round six
Ganteiana wastes no time putting her new found vigour to good use, as she takes off at a sprint, winding around in a wide circle. Her talons click loudly against the tiled floor as she runs, her head bobbing up and down in time to her movement. Since the rest of her commands are dull, the Torchic makes the most of this fun one that involves a bit of effort.
Jim looks up as Ganteiana dissolves into a fiery blur, and blinks rapidly in surprise as two more fiery blurs abruptly split off from the leader. When the clones appear, the three Torchics begins to slow down, before gradually stopping altogether and standing in a row, looking at Jim expectantly.
Despite his hurt feelings, Jim gives a small smile; two more to admire is great. On the other hand, he’s still really smarting from his previous scorching and he’s having trouble doing any admiring. Ganteiana probably wouldn’t mind if he took a quick rest, any person in a good relationship would agree…
His mind still whirring with half-hearted excuses, Jim slowly slides down onto the floor in a limp heap, his scaly tail curled around him. As he slips into the healing trance, his troubled thoughts fade, and his body begins to glow with a light blue ethereal aura. The angry red burn on his chest is quickly cooled and soothed by the gentle blue glow, gradually fading away and leaving the white skin unmarked.
Ganteiana is frozen for a moment in complete surprise as she stares at the sleeping Jim. Annoyance quickly begins to set in however; as she wonders if he got so bored with her that he dozed off.
Fluffing up her feathers and chirping indignantly, the three Ganteianas stomp over to the peaceful Sandshrew and look down on him sternly. Ganteiana’s temper rises further as Jim utters an unusually loud snore before muttering something incomprehensible. She responds by giving him a sharp poke with her talons, hoping to get his attention. Her clones mimic her frustration, though their poking is insubstantial.
When Jim continues to stir, Ganteiana thinks she might be getting through, but when the Sandshrew abruptly leaps to his feet, she is sent reeling back from the sudden move.
A little embarrassed, Ganteiana tries to play it cool; quickly righting herself as she turns towards him. But apparently Jim wouldn’t have seen anything anyway; his eyes are still closed, like he’s sleep-walking. Ganteiana looks at him, now a little puzzled and uneasy. Jim’s movements are jerky and erratic as he continues mumbling garbled strings of words, all while waving his arms about. A fine, almost transparent, mint green mist slowly materializes as he gestures, cloaking his body in a ghostly film. The effect is vaguely hypnotic, along with the blue aura, Jim is starting to resemble some sort of bizarre Christmas decoration. His weird job done, Jim slowly sinks down again, curling up on the floor and looking generally peaceful. All the while, the trance does its work, as the blue aura seeps into his skin, washing away the painful burns and scratches on his battle-worn armour.
Ganteiana doesn’t feel any less confused upon seeing this, and her feeling of unease remains. She’s about to give Jim another poke when she remembers she’s got some commands to follow; she was a bit distracted for a moment there, time for a breather.
Still eyeing Jim questionably, Ganteiana sets herself down on the floor, relaxing her muscles and stretching out her legs.
She isn’t left to her own devices for long though, as Jim begins to mutter in his sleep again; staggering upright as he is apparently urged on by his subconsciousness. The Sandshrew takes a few uncertain and shaky steps forward before raising his fist and pulling it back.
Ganteiana is understandably alarmed when the sleepwalker trudges over to her like a zombie, looking ready to punch. Nevertheless, she remains where she is, hoping he’s not
really going to do anything he might regret…
Not so. Jim abruptly lashes out with his fist, delivering a swift punch that rips through the clone he targeted. Even as he punches out a second and third time, the clone is already ripped out of existence.
Needless to say, Ganteiana isn’t sure what to make of this. Although she is a bit relieved that he didn’t strike her, maybe he knew which was just a clone? Still, he was putting his own health before hers, that’s just rude.
Even as Jim flops down again, he begins to stir almost immediately. Muttering sleepily, Jim sluggishly stands upright, stretching out his limbs. While the healing trance has left him physically healthier, he is ironically left a lot more drained from the effort of the trance and the subconscious attacking. In fact, just standing is making him feel light-headed, and his gaze is unfocused and bleary.
