• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Asber Exploration Agency

Chuurro

You point the Pokédex at the Paras, attempting to find a speaker. For a moment, the machine whirrs and then says something. Compared to the silence around you, the sudden sound seems quite loud. Before the machine gets to its second word, you attempt to cancel the scan. As you try to tap the 'cancel' button, your hand brushes some sort of dial, which immediately quiets the Pokédex. The Paras stare at you for a moment, but then begins to scrabble at the ground with his front claws.
You attempt the scan again, and your Pokédex quietly intones:

Paras, level two, male. Ability: Dry Skin.

Grass Czar

Gripping tightly to the harness, you gather the courage to look around as the charizard flaps its wings mightily in the chily air. Hmm, was it just a little bit warmer than before? Risking a glance backwards, you see that Titan's tail flame has flared up.

Below you, a blur of distant trees rushes past. Closer to you, a flock of spearow with a fearow in the front wheel above you. As you stare up at them, the fearow notices the charizard. Justifiably frightened, the bird lets out a caw. Before it wheels away, something warm and yellowish-white plops onto your shoulder.

Disgusted, but too busy hanging on for dear life to wipe the excretement off, you look down again. By now, you've dipped significantly lower, but you're still at least several hundred meters above the now-thinning trees. You can see the ocean in the distance.

After several more minutes, you're quite near to the beach. For obvious reasons, Titan is wary of his proximity to the water, and plops down quite a distance away from the actual shore. You jump off and almost immediately see a small, crwling crabby in the sand a few meters away. You can see the Outpost, too, to your left and maybe several dozen meters away. Although you can't see all of the details, it seems to be constructed mostly of bricks and wood.

Hrn, Dry Skin isn't my thing. I'll leave the Paras alone, and continue on, making sure to give the Stunky a wide berth. I'll quickscan any new pokemon I see.

Stupid bird...

Okay, so I will stroke Titan, before thanking him, and telling him he can go. Then I'll head to the outpost, and scan any Pokemon I can see, apart from the Krabby.

Negrek
The two Grimer recoil when the air around them begins to ripple with heat. However, you are not entirely unaffected. The combination of sewage and heat is not a pretty one. Your eyes begin to water, and, above, an open window produces several shouts and retching sounds before somebody shuts it.

The grimers, on the other hand, respond with what appears to be a ball of their own bodies, tossing both at your stunned Slugma....This could get bad. In the mean time, you bring your shirt collar up to your nose in order to ward off the aweful stench.

Me
I'll take due consideration on any job offerings, and take a closer look on that reward for the lost Meowth. Afterwards, I'll head off to whatever area the Meowth is assumed to be lost in, scanning Pokemon as I go along.

Yeerk Scum (a.k.a Animorph)

You lean closer to the cork-covered board, succeding in dodging the comparitavely large amount of people in the area. Shielding your eyes from the sun, which has just come out from behind a cloud, you read the bulletin about the lost Meowth.

Pleas help me find Meowth! I was walking one day,
and when I opened the door on my house, Meowth ranned out!
I live near the Pokemart, please find Meowth! I love her lots!

Taking a moment to memorize the information, you head towards the Pokémart. The farther away you get from the Holo-Domes, the lower the number of people around you gets. Soon, you're almost the only one around. After walking for a few minutes, you reach the Pokémart. A Spearow and a Pidgey are fighting over an overripe-looking Cheri berry on the roof. A quick scan reveals that they're both level two and male.

You glance around, but to no avail. There isn't a Meowth in sight. You do notice several alleys, though. It seems that this Meowth won't be waltzing herself right into your arms.

Atos-kray Aurion-ay

You pull out Fever's ball. She, being an intelligent Pokémon, knows what this means. Giving a sigh, which sounds more like a roar to you, she resignedly allows you to absorb her back into the ball.

You pull out two other Pokéballs and press the buttons on the front. In twin bursts of white light, a Meowth and Houndour materialize next to each other. They glance around curiously, but then snap to attention, looking at you for guidance.

At your command, the Pokémon trot along beside you as you head towards the water. It's quite a ways away, and the sun is shining. Maybe you should have gotten closer on Scarlet Fever. Nevertheless, you continue walking, the smudge of an outpost growing larger with every dozen yards or so. Kratos is panting slightly, although he's holding up very well in the heat, being a Fire-type. Shrödinger is also doing quite well, maybe feeling the heat a bit more than the Houndour.

The Outpost has grown on the horizon, but it looks like you're only halfway there. There's a little Sunkern hopping away from were you landed.

I'll quick-scan the Sunkern; if its level is 20 or lower, I'll have Schrödinger hit it with Fake Out and then Taunt, and have Kratos use Ember on his foreleg to activate Flash Fire before attacking Sunkern with Flamethrower. If it's above level 20 then we'll leave it alone and keep walking toward the outpost. Either way, if I see any new Pokémon then I'll quick-scan them as well.

Prettzel

You continue on, being careful to avoid the Stunky. You then hear a faint chattering sound, and move a bush to find another Paras scuttling along. Nearby are a Pichu that is looking up at the fruit on a nearby tree longfully, and a Nincada. You lift your pokedex. "Paras, level 3. Pichu, level 2. Nincada, level 4."

Kratos Aurion

The pokédex informs you that the sunkern is female and level six. At your command, Schrödinger takes off through the long grass, headed back towards your landing site at top speed. Kratos stays by your side, though, merely giving you a critical look. Ember he can manage, but flamethrower? That's a bit out of his league. Off in the distance, Schrödinger springs out of the grass and leaps at the sunkern, which lets out a squeak and falls over. Schrödinger backs away from the whimpering plant and looks over his shoulder for some sign of his backup, but none seems forthcoming. He only has a little time before the sunkern recovers from the fake out, so he gets started with his taunt. The meowth lays on his best insults, making rude gestures and otherwse doing his best to get the little grass type worked up. The sunkern doesn't disappoint, face contorting into an almost comical expression of rage and the sprout rising out of its head glowing a brilliant green. A similar aura appears around Schrödinger before flowing over to the sunkern, pulling away some of his health.

At this distance, it's a little hard to tell, but both pokémon look no more than a little ruffled. Kratos, of course, is fine.

Grass King

Titan lets out a quiet rumble as your hand runs over his scales, but he doesn't linger. The charizard takes a couple of running steps before spreading his wings and heaving himself into the air. Titan rapidly disappears into the distance, his tail flame eclipsed by the bright sky.

Meanwhile, the krabby scuttles into the surf; the only other pokémon you notice nearby are a couple of wingull, circling overhead and eyeing the krabby with interest (female level one and male level five).

Myself

Evan narrowed watering eyes, sorely tempted to step back a ways in order to avoid the unpleasantly pungent heat, but far too proud to do so. This battle would be over soon enough, one way or another--and if the slugma knew what was good for it, it would be in Evan's favor.

"Use yawn on one of them," he commanded, voice slightly muffled behind his shirt. "Then heat wave again."

Okay, I'll ignore the Wingull, and send out Coulomb, my Mareep.

I'll then have him dip his tail in the water, and use Charge, since his lightbulb lights up the more energy that is charged.

((Schrödinger is female. Yes, yes, I know, Erwin was a dude and that probably makes it confusing, but my Meowth is not.))

Aaaanyway, crap. Um. So after graciously accepting an apology from me for forgetting about Flamethrower, Kratos will go ahead and give Schrödinger the backup she needs with two Fire Fangs. Schrödinger will try a Hypnosis; if it works then she'll use Assist (the fire fang, you must channel it), and if it doesn't then she'll use Hypnosis again.

Kratos: Fire Fang ~ Fire Fang
Schrödinger: Hypnosis ~ Assist/Hypnosis

Okay, I'll send out Hookbill and Spookter against that pichu. Spookter will use Will-o-Wisp on the first action. Next action, he'll use Hypnosis, but if Fire Spin is too thick, I'll have him go with Psywave. If both Fire Spin and Will-o-wisp missed, he'll use Will-o-Wisp again. Hookbill will use Fire Spin first action; if it worked, he'll use Night Slash, but if it didn't he'll repeat Fire Spin.

Hookbill: Fire Spin ~ Night Slash/Fire Spin
Spookter: Will-o-Wisp ~ Hypnosis/Psywave/Will-o-Wisp
