As you yell your commands to your Squirtle, he stares blindly about, aiming himself at your voice. Nodding tiredly to a tree several feet to your right, Tankard revolves yet again, hopefully in the direction of his opponent.

The by-now-hated Volbeat flaps its wings quickly, rasping them together. The rasping, combine with the buzzing issuing from the Volbeat's throat, produce an almost supernaturally loud sound.

Sinking gratefully but painfully into his shell for a moment, Tankard summons his energy to form a shield around him, deadening the sound to a lower, tolerable level. The Volbeat, peeved by his lack of damage to the Squirtle, is otherwise happy at the lack of imeadiate pain to himself.

What he doesn't know is that Mirror Coat isn't just blocking the attack. The move is actually drawing upon the force of the attack, combining it with Tankard's energy. The rippling shield fires out a huge beam of pure energy, blasting through the arrogant bug.

Tankard wearily sticks his head out from his shell, and sees, to his surprise, his opponent laying face-down in the leaves, quite still. Smiling in a tired but happy sort of way, Tankard wearily steps over to you and curls up by your feet.

Upon closer inspection, the Volbeat appears to be quite unconcious, bruised all over.

Your Squirtle has 7% health left and 34% energy. +3 exp, if I'm not mistaken.

Well. It looks like the decision was made for me - I won't be catching the volbeat after all. It's for the best, really. I put the pokeball away, lowering my hand now that I no longer fear going blind.

"Nice job," I say, recalling Tankard. He's nearly fainted, so recovery would take way too long. I turn back to where I came from and start walking back to ASB Central, intending to get my pokemon healed. Any pokemon on the way can be taken care of by Kusha.

You pull out your Pokédex and, pointing it at the Meowth, you hear a metallic click and a whir.

"This Meowth is a female, level three. Its ability is Pickup."

You slowly move the screen from the cat Pokémon to the somewhat more distant Ralts.

"This Ralts is male, level six. Its ability is Synchronize."

If the Ralts hasn't seen me yet, I'll go behind a building near it where it can't see me first. I'll release Daphne the Nidoran f and have her use Supersonic and then Pursuit.

Grass Queen

You pull out your Pokéball to recall Simeon. The monkey, staring curiously and intently at the forest, looks rather reluctant to leave. Nevertheless, he complies when the red light absorbs it.

After releasing your Chikorita, who looks around for a few moments before returning her attention to you, you gather your items and head through the forest.

It's rather tough going, though, pushing branches away and pulling your shoelaces from thorny bushes. Gaia is having a bit worse of a time, being so small, and is forced to climb up onto your shoulder. With your Pokémon in tow, you trek closer to the source of the roar.

You find a small clearing, little more than a large patch of treeless grass, and your attention is imeadiately drawn to the towering Typhlosion, which is spurting flames from both its back and its mouth, stting fire to the bushes and trees behind it.

As you shrink back slightly, you notice a young boy, roughly thirteen, cowering in fear at the total outrage of the fire Pokémon. Surrounding the boy are an unconcious Tyrogue and Sentret, clearly burned and singed. The Typhlosion, intent on attacking the boy, doesn't notice you as of yet.

The boy, on the other hand, sees you instantly and screams for help, flailing his arms wildly.

Okay, I'll signal the boy to be quiet. Then, I'll have Gaia sneak up on it, before she uses Grasswhistle until the Typhlosion falls asleep.

If it falls asleep, I'll run over to the boy, and tell him to hurry and get out of the forest. I'll leave, with the boy, before the Typhlosion wakes up.

GrassWhistle ~ GrassWhistle

((Also, if a Tyrouge evolves, does it just evovle into a random evolution, or is there a fixed method?))

Kratos Aurion

You walk back into the heart of the city, and as you walk past a corner, you see the average build of a human, but it is static, and the name 'greategret' hovers overhead the figure.

You continue further in until you find the street with the Pokemon Centre.

Right. Adonis and I walk into the Center and, if there isn't a line for the PC terminal, head for the PC. Now, let's see... I'll override my Ekans with my Arbok, which is free and will put him at level 22 (bah no experience); then I'll also pay to bring in my red Salamence, Scarlet Fever, my Houndour, Kratos Aurion, who has 2 exp and comes in at level 11, and my Meowth, Schrödinger, who has 1 exp and comes in at level 6. So:

[Adonis] Arbok (M) <Shed Skin> lv22, 0 exp
[Scarlet Fever] Salamence (F) <Intimidate> lv50, 0 exp
[Kratos Aurion] Houndour (M) <Flash Fire> lv11, 2 exp
[Schrödinger] Meowth (F) <Technician> lv6, 1 exp

Which comes to $55, unless I'm much mistaken.

If there is a line, we'll just get on the end and wait.

You step towards the Pokémon Center, looking both ways before crossing the street. Such a good little Pokémon Trainer.

As you approach the Center, the pink-glazed glass doors open automatically. Walking inside, it takes your eyes a moment to adjust to the decor; Flourescent pink seems to be the main color scheme, with a splash of creme here and there.

Once your eyes stop throbbing, you head over to an empty computer terminal. The Nurse Joy, who had been looking rather hopeful as you entered, saw this and turned back to her magazine with a sigh.

Feeling a little bit of illogical guilt, you nevertheless seat yourself on one of the bright-pink desk chairs and bring up the Pokémon Transfer Program, key in your trainer code, and place Adonis's Pokéball into the printer-like machine next to the computer. With a few beeps and whirr, a plastic cover closes over the Pokéball.

After waiting a few moments, you turn expectantly to the machine as it stops whirring.

A metallic voice, similar to that of a Pokédex's, says cheerfully,"Pokémon Data Transfer Completed!"

With a few more clicks and a press of the ENTER key, the whirring begins again. After about a minute, in which you are forced to pick up a magazine about Pokémon fashions, a 'ding' issues from the transfer machine. You reach in and pull out a Pokéball. A few seconds later, the same thing happens. The process is repeated once more before the machine shuts down.

Making sure to exit out of the program, you gather your things up again.

You have gained your Salamence, Meowth, and Houndour, and your Ekans has been updated to its current ASB form.

After your Pokédex stops talking, you skulk slowly over to the Ralts, ducking behind trashcans and parked cars. Ducking behind a wall, you pull out a Pokéball.

In a burst of light that you frantically attempt to cover up behind a plastic bin, your Nidoran appears, sniffing the air. You bend down and whisper your instructions to her.

Peering around the corner, you see the Ralts, apparently oblivious to you, kicking a small can around and giggling. You motion to your Nidoran, who quickly dashes out from behind her cover and lets out a high-pitched, squeaking noise.

Although it succeeds in giving you a slight headache, the Ralts appears to be quite unaffected, still kicking the can around.

Nidoran, slightly discouraged at her failure, nevertheless readies herself for her next attack. Backing up a few steps, she runs towards the Ralts, intent on making a dent in him.

Her teeth surrounded by a miasma of dark energy, your Nidoran nears her opponent. At the last second, the Ralts turns towards her. Looking as surprised as a Ralts can, he tries to dodge. Nidoran jumps, sinking her dark-shrouded teeth into the gownish torso of the Psychic-type. As the Ralts attempts to escape her bite, Nidoran finally lets go, falling at the feet of Ralts.

The Ralts, angered by the attack, waves his arms around, leaving behind swirling orbs of golden, sparkling light. Your Pokémon stares at them, completely losing interest in the Ralts. The psychic smiles smugly, planning his next move.

You lift your finger to your mouth, looking at the boy. He immeadiately shuts up, clamping a hand over his mouth as a precaution.

You whisper instructions to your Chikorita, who looks rather reluctant to approach the giant, flaming rodent. With a little bit of prompting, however, she pulls the leaf from her head (which imeadiately grows back) and trots slowly towards the fully-evolved Fire-type starter.

Once she's in place, Gaia raises the leaf to her mouth and blows softly.

Unluckily, the Typhlosion chooses that exact moment to let out the loudest roar yet, completely drowning out the Grasswhistle.

Your Chikorita retreats into the bushes, fear in her eyes. The Typhlosion points his muzzle towards the sky, and lets loose a huge column of fire, heating the surrounding area quickly.

As the Typhlosion shoots fire into the air, your Pokémon inches back towards the monstrous Fire-type and raises the leaf to her mouth again. She blows almost immeadiatly, trying to use her attack before the Typhlosion roars again.

A sweet, slightly rasping melody floats from the Chikorita, and as it reaches her opponent's ears, its eyes droop, and it hits the ground with a BAMM!

Gaia, clearly relieved, hurries back to you. You run over to the boy, who is pulling out a couple of Pokéballs. He returns his Pokémon to their Pokéballs, and you grab his arm, pulling him along as you run out of the forest.

I believe that I will buy the Champion pack, just to splurge on something. *I apologize for the lack of updates...school, computer trouble, and such...*

With my champion pack, I will purchase

F. Cyndaquil [Tiffany]

M. Mudkip [Roland]

After waiting for what seems to be ages, you are finally called in to collect your Pokemon. You enter the room, and the lab assistant looks at you with a bored expression. Instead of waiting for you to walk over to her, the assistant simply throws the Pokeballs for you to catch.

"Don't forget your item waiver. You need that to pick up your items from the Pokemart." She said in a dull voice, pointing out a small waiver on the desk next to you. "Have a good day." She says, after you have checked your Pokemon, called them back, and have opened the door.

You have obtained: a Male Mudkip at Level 5, a Female Cyndaquil at Level 5, and an Item Waiver.

As you head for the edge of town, the buildings thin out, and a few abandoned lots begin cropping up. As you pass by an alleyway, you cough, eyes suddenly burning from a horrible stench wafting out of the alley. Glancing over with watering eyes, you notice a purple blob of slime. It has just knocked over a trash can, and is currently eating the garbage inside. The Grimer is joined by yet another blob of foul smelling sludge, eating from the toppled trash can.

Grass King

The boy, regaining some of the color in his face, nods, panting quietly, not wanting to wake the rodent you've left back in the clearing.

"Yah...yah, I'm alright..." He wipes some sweat off of his forehead. "Whew..." he gasps, and looks at the two Pokeballs he's holding. "...Err...Thanks for the save." He says, and glances up at the sun. "...I'd better head back to the Pokemon center...would you mind walking with me?" He asked, indicating to the two Pokeballs he was holding.

With that, you are off. The forest around you is quiet, a majority of the local wildlife scared away by the Typhlosion. However, a flash of blue above you indicates movement, and your Pokedex reveals the culprit.
"The Pachirisu is level 3. It's ability is Pickup." It chimes.

Animorph

I'll proceed down the street, smiling at people I pass, with a skip in my step and a shine in my eye. Upon my arrival at the Pokemart, I saunter over to the counter and wait to be noticed by the cashiers.

I'll ignore the Pachirisu, and continue back to the Pokemon Centre with the trainer. I'll continue to scan any Pokemon I see. On the way, I'll ask the trainer what his name is.

As you enter the Pokemart, you can't see any other customers. You walk over to the counter, where two cashiers are talking. As you approach the counter, the both turn to you, and give bored smiles.

"How can I help you?" the one on the right asks.

"I came to exchange this item waver for supplies." I reply, placing the waver on the table. "One Champion pack, if you'd please."

"By the way...my name is Joshua." THe boy says before you can question him on his identity. "Josh Noble." He says, and shakes your hand. With that, the journey back to the Pokemon Center continues.

Along the way, a small, high pitched noise greets you from the tree's above. A swablu sit's on a branch, curiously regarding the two of you, as it tilts back and forth to get a good look at the two of you. You also see a quick flash of pink within the bushes, and the Pokedex reveals all.

"The Swablu is Level 3. The Skitty is level 4."

As one of the cashiers walks into a storage room behind the counter, the other picks up your item waiver and examines it. After a few minutes, the first cashier returns, and places your items on the counter.

"Thanks. Please do call in again." The cashier says, as you put away your items, before leaving the store.

You have received: Five Pokéballs, Two great balls, Three potions, One Full Heal, One Revive

As you shout your orders to Nidoran, she blinks hard and manages to understand what you say. Nodding sleepily, she turns back to her opponent, trying to ignore the pretty-pretty lights.

Closing her eyes, Nidoran attempts to calm down and focus. Lights still dance through her eyelids, but Nidoran manages to prevent their influence for a moment.

Unluckily, the Ralts has an idea. As soon as your Pokémon shuts her eyes, he bends down and sneaks over into the shade of an awning, sneaking through the shadows. Ralts has soon made his way to behind Nidoran, his right fist glowing with a translucent glowing energy. Rapping his knuckles hard against your Nidoran's back, Ralts leaps back before she can realize what has happened.

The attack has managed to crumble your Pokémon's already fragile concentration, and as she whirls around to find the source of the attack, her eyes catch the sparkling, golden, pretty-pretty lights.

Transfixed, she stares at the dazzling lightshow, wobbling from side to side. But somehow, Nidoran musters up the will to remember your command. Tearing her gaze from the beautiful orbs of light, your Pokémon opens her mouth and lets out a higher-than-humanly-possible screech. It barely registers in your range of hearing, but the Ralts can clearly comprehend the noise. Sticking his skinny arms under his helmet, presumably to cover up whatever orafice a Ralts uses to hear, your opponent, wobbling a bit, nevertheless sends out a wave of psychic energy, which forms a glowing, insane-looking face, which leers at your Pokémon, who squeals and immediately stops her attack.

The Supersonic appears to have hit its mark, however, as both Nidoran and her enemy stumble around quite drunkedly, the Ralts notably less so.

Grass Emperor

Joshua sighs quietly, tapping his foot in almost comical impatience. You, on the other hand, grab one of your Pokéballs and press the button, releasing your wooly Electric-type. With a bleat and a nibble on some grass, Coulomb turns to you for orders. As you point to the puffy cloud-bird and give your commands, he turns to the Swablu and bleats again.

Shutting his eyes tight, not seeing the curious Swablu stare at him, Coulomb summons the electricity inherently stored in his wooly body, bringing it to the surface for his upcoming attack.

Crackling with static energy, your Mareep opens his eyes to see his oblivious opponent twittering at a dandelion. Smiling a bit, Coulomb lets loose a volley of blue lightning, which combines with the stored electricity from before. Together, this forms a painfully powerful attack that heads straight towards the Swablu.

The attack reaches the bird, knocking it into the air. As it lands, unable to stop its fall, the Swablu twitters weakly for a moment but quickly jumps back up.

Much to the surprise of Coulomb, the little bird isn't scowling good-naturedly, but positively bursting with rage and pain. Screaming a high-pitched but threatening warble, the Swablu charges at the larger Mareep and pecks his face and legs with a rock-hard beak.

As the enraged bird continues to strike Coulomb, he turns to you with a begging look on his face, waiting for orders.

As you pull out a Pokéball and enlarge it to around the size of an apple, you glance at Tankard, curled up at your feet. Pressing the button on the center of the orb, you watch as the dozing Pokémon is sucked back into the safety of his ball.

Compressing the Pokéball and placing it back on your belt, you check to make sure you have all of your things and set of south, towards ASB Central.

As you pull your way through thorned bushes and low-hanging branches, you glance around you, keeping alert for any Pokémon that might give you trouble. A Paras scuttles by, but it doesn't seem to even notice you, much less challenge you.

You soon make it to the edge of the forest, and, batting away a cluster of leaves, step out into the relative flatness of the surrounding area. You find a dirt path and head towards the line of large buildings to the south.

As you walk, the trees become smaller and more sparse, and the road turns from dirt to gravel to asphalt. Before you know it, you've reached ASB Central. Quickly recognizing the way to the Pokémon Center, you walk for a few minutes, careful not to walk into the occasional fellow citygoer. You soon reach the Pokémon Center and walk through the automatic glass doors.

As always, the room is stunningly pink, but you can still make out that the bored-looking Nurse Joy at the counter is becoming increasingly excited as you approach her desk. As you lift Tankard's Pokéball and attempt to say what is needed, she reaches out and snatches the pokéball, placing it in the healing machine before you can understand what happened. When the usual cheery tune rings out from the machine, the nurse dances a little.

She looks at you sheepishly and says, "Sorry, I don't get to hear that song much..." She hands you Tankard.

Tankard has been fully healed.

Good thing she likes the tune, then, since I forgot to get my pineco healed. I do that, and ask the nurse where the river is. Then I'll go register my pineco at the PC without storing her.

After that I'll head to the river.

Prettzel

It was a fine day in ASB Central, the sky virtually cloudless and the air warm and still. The great city was unnaturally silent, though, skyscrapers built to house hundreds of offices sitting largely empty and the streets devoid of more than a few travelers. This far out from the city center, towards the southern tip of the place, the emptiness was a bit less apparent, but with only the soft sounds of pokémon moving about to break the silence, it was a bit eerie.

Before you was a small building adjoining a modest paddock in which flying-type pokémon of all sorts wandered or rested. Altaria and pidgeot roosted on long bars that had been set up for that purpose, and a charizard was giving itself a good cleaning, blowing flame along its scaly body to burn off dirt. All the pokémon in the yard wore harnesses, and a couple of human trainers wandered between them, loading mail and packages onto some, grooming or feeding others.

The booth, which was open to the street and housed one bored-looking teenage attendant, had a large sign posted next to the ticket window that read:

"Outer Reaches Transportation

Round-Trip Tickets

Plains and Beach Outposts: $3
Shore and Mountain Outposts: $5
Lonely Outpost: $10

(( Many apologies for the delay. ))

(( Tyrogue's evolution is random. ))

Looking back down at the swablu assaulting his legs, Coulomb begins building up charge for another thunderbolt. The swablu is far too enraged to pay any attention, unfortunately for it; while Coulomb seems only mildly annoyed by the bird's incessant pecking, the bolt of blue lightning that rips free of his fur and blasts the swablu back several feet is obviously more damaging. As the bird lies smoking and twitching on the ground, you ready your pokéball, take aim, and throw--and the swablu disappears in a flash of red light as it is drawn inside the capture device.

The ball shakes and wobbles for a couple of seconds before falling still. Coulomb lets out a small bleat, then trots over to nudge the pokéball with his nose. Although a bit ragged around the legs from the swablu's peck, he still looks quite energetic.

You have lost one pokéball and gained a lv. 5 female swablu. Coulomb has gained +2 EXP.

Kusarigamaitachi

The nurse was quite surprised when you handed her another pokéball, but she accepted it without complaint. As she turned to place it in the healer, she replied, "Oh, the river? That's a bit to the west of here. If you go back to the center of the city and follow the main street west, you'll eventually come to the path that runs that way."

The healing machine played its jingle once more, and the nurse smiled as she withdrew your pineco's pokéball. "Here you go," she said as she handed Pineco back to you. "Not that I mind, but in the future you should know that most people get all of their pokémon healed at once."

She watched as you went over to the PC and began messing with your account settings, figuring out how to register your new Pineco, then sighed and picked up the magazine she'd previously been reading and flipped to a new page. After a bit of poking around, you found the directions for registering a new pokémon to your team;

From there, your path was clear--leave the Center and travel southwest to the river. ASB Central was as quiet as ever and no one got in your way, naturally, but it looked like the forest was going to be another matter. The sidewalk you'd been following trailed off into a scuffed dirt track that ran straight into a wall of dense trees. At least this time you had some sort of path to follow. As you sized up the terrain before you, you caught sight of a gulpin oozing through the sparse grass in the area between you and the start of the forest; other than that, the place appeared quite deserted.

Pineco has been restored to top form.

Myself

Evan slouched along the sidewalk, passionately despising the warm weather and sunny day. His sweatshirt was stifling and already starting to stick to him--not, of course, that he'd be taking it off under any circumstances. If anything was going to change in this scenario, it was going to be the weather, not him.

If there was one thing he was grateful for, however, it was that so few people were about. He hated interacting with them in any case, and if there was no one around while he got to know his new pokémon, so much the better. It was this that was on his mind when a particularly foul smell intruded on his musings. Coming to a halt, he peered in direction of the scent, grimacing with disgust. So far as he knew, there was only one thing that would put out a stench that foul in a city like this; and indeed, there they were, two grimer scrabbling the garbage.

For a moment, Evan stood where he was, just watching. Grimer weren't bad; the smell was a bit of a turn-off, but it could be an advantage if used properly. One way or another, this looked like the perfect opportunity to test out his new pokémon--or one of them, at least. Reaching into one of his pants pockets, he pulled out a minimized pokéball and flicked it to the pavement. "Let's go, Slugma."

One burst of light later, the slugma turned back and gave him a lazy look. "Yeah, hello to you, too," Evan said to it, deciding immediately that he didn't like its attitude. "Get over there and use... use, damn, uh..." Rummaging in his pockets again, Evan came up with his pokédex and turned it on the slugma. "Heat wave, yeah. Attack those grimer." He pointed into the alley without much interest, then glanced around to see if there were any other people in the vicinity.

She watched as you went over to the PC and began messing with your account settings, figuring out how to register your new Pineco, then sighed and picked up the magazine she'd previously been reading and flipped to a new page. After a bit of poking around, you found the directions for registering a new pokémon to your team;

Hmph... more trees in my way. Well, I can tolerate them since I've got something past them that I want to get to. I ignore the gulpin and keep walking - I like gulpin, but they're not really worth it, and I don't have the same advantages I'd expect from the river.

Grass King

OKay, I'll return Coulomb, before heading back to the Pokemon Centre with Josh. I'll just ignore any more Pokemon I see in the Forest/Grassland. If I see a non-Psychic/Normal type within the city, then I'll scan it.

Kindly refrain from associating me with that place, mmm?

All-righty then! I'll approach the nurse, unnerving as it is that she's expresssed disappointment about my Pokémon's lack of injury, and ask which way I need to head out of town if I want to head for the Plains Outpost, and whether she knows approximately how long it would take to fly there.
