Out of curiosity, is there some reason I can't see an edit notice on the bottom of it like I can for my posts?

If you make an edit within a minute or two of the original post it won't display the notice by default.
 
Really? Is that a recent feature? I don't remember it doing that in the past. In any case, that's interesting.
 
Negrek: Don't know... I'm pretty sure I remember it behaving that way at least shortly before the wipe, if not earlier than that.
