blazheirio889 vs Alraunne (Ref: Negrek)

Allow yourself to get hit by Grass Knot, and Chill during that action. Then, Mimic her Super Fang, so you guys can more or less get even. I assume you'll be close enough to pull it off, since Mei had to be close enough to pull that first one off in the first place. If not, though, give me a Heat Wave. Finally, she should be using Sweet Kiss - I want you to fend her off with Overheat. Hopefully all that heat will drive her off! Remember your Substitute! I don't think I have to remind yoou that you could end up like that lava doll - torn off at the chest. You can't fall for her tricks! If you're ever paralyzed, relax your muscles; hopefully it'll alleviate the paralysis faster.

- Stung, but more annoyed than anything.

Blinking through the afterimages that cloud her sight after taking the natural gift to the face, Mei takes a moment to recover before beginning her next attack. Khao wavers where he stands, twitching now and again, then topples forward on his face--once more, paralysis has gotten the better of him. Though trying to loosen up and relax, rather than fighting the horrible constricted feeling, does seem to help the cyndaquil a bit, it's ultimately not enough to grant him control over his body before Mei gets a chance to strike.

Planting her forepaws on the ground, Mei grimaces as she taps into her limited control over life energy and sends a pulse of power into the grass around her. It ripples fitfully, and several clumps around Khao sway and bend as their blades grow exponentially, wrapping themselves around the cyndaquil and binding him tightly to the ground.

With Khao trussed up and unable to defend himself, it's the perfect time to strike with a powerful attack. Mei lets power flow into her incisors once again until they start to glow with energy, burning to the touch and almost painful with the concentration of power forced into them. Mei darts forward, and this time there is nothing to block her from reaching Khao--her teeth sink deep into his shoulder, and the cyndaquil shrieks and tries to twist away as Mei's teeth rip a deep gash down his side, the power in them driving the wound even deeper than it would be otherwise. Despite the pain, Khao does his best to try and analyze the attack and understand how it is performed--if he's to have any hope of retaliating, he needs to be able to perform it himself.

When Mei retreats, Khao is left lying in the bloody tatters of the grass knot attack, most of its tendrils having been sliced through by Mei's teeth in the process of the super fang. The cyndaquil whimpers and slowly gets to his feet, ripping off the remainder of the grass and trying to get his thoughts in order despite the pain radiating from the huge wound in his side. He hasn't got any real teeth of his own with which to duplicate the attack, but with intense concentration, the cyndaquil manages to bend his energy into a concentrated shape, growing fangs made up of nothing more than light and heat from his jaw. Mei has only moments to be surprised by Khao's vampiric transformation before the cyndaquil lunges, slowed by pain and paralysis but full of determination. Mei gets a taste of her own medicine as Khao latches onto her chest, chewing out a deep wound across the front of her body with his temporary teeth. These vanish as soon as the attack is completed, leaving Khao to work his jaw a bit to chase away the last of the funny feeling that accompanies having them. The novelty of using the super fang is almost enough, for the moment, to stave off the weariness that is its cost.

Head swimming with pain, Mei is a little quavery as she gets up on her tiptoes and kisses Khao on the cheek; nevertheless, the cyndaquil is suffering from relatively similar problems isn't in the clearest mindset to resist the sweet kiss attack. Startled by the unexpected show of affection, the cyndaquil reels. He tries to concentrate on his trainer's warnings and remind himself that Mei is the one responsible for his awful injuries but can't help but be distracted as he tries to figure out why she would go and kiss him like that, of all thinks. Fire bubbles up in his gut and his back flares and fizzles, but inattention causes the building overheat attack to go out of control and backfire painfully, leaving Khao coughing smoke while Mei looks on with grim satisfaction. Both pokémon, wrapped up in their own concerns, barely perk up as high-pitched screeches begin to emanate from the trees hemming in their battlefield.

Final Notes
- Relaxing helped to alleviate Khao's paralysis slightly, but not enough that he dropped below "severe" in this round.
- blazheirio889 attacks first next round.

Where did Khao's special attack drop go? Unless I missed something...

Well then. Energy is of utmost concern at the moment. Chill on the first round and all rounds after if you feel too stiff/confused to attack. And then... hm. Flame Wheel and Natural Gift. If she Protects/you can't reach her, Chill. However, if it's raining, Sunny Day.

Chill ~ Flame Wheel/Chill/Sunny Day ~ Natural Gift/Chill/Sunny Day

It does, yes. Khao hurt himself in confusion on the last action, though, so the attack never got executed in full (or much at all, really) and as a result he didn't suffer a stat reduction.

Go ahead and Chill whenever the Cyndaquil happens to be chilling, since you probably won't get a chance to later.

- Holding her paws over the gash in her chest.

Both pokémon, weary and weakened by the last round, are glad to have some time off to rest. The harsh calls from the forest are of no concern to Mei, and she gratefully settles down to chill, still holding her paws over the stinging wound in her chest. Khao would like to rest easy, too, but his body seems to have other plans. His coughs turn to gagging chokes as the muscles in his throat seize up, and the cyndaquil less lies down than he does topple forward, limbs frozen in place and face contorted in horror. He doesn't really need to move around to chill, of course, but this isn't the most relaxing situation he could dream up.

Fortunately, his limbs gradually loosen up while he rests. Eventually, Khao is able to pick himself back up, testing his limbs and tentatively flaring the fire on his back. The rest has done a little to relieve his confusion, too, but his coordination still isn't what it could be--and when Mei abruptly tackles him from the side, knocking him back onto his rump, the cyndaquil is even more perplexed; he could have sworn she was lying down just a second ago.

The pachirisu's quick attack does more than knock the cyndaquil down again, though. Another stab of pain awakens Khao's most primal instincs, the drive for self-preservation lending him dangerous new strength. The cyndaquil's back flames roar higher, and before Mei's startled eyes a red aura starts to flicker around the little fire type. The flames swirl back around, surrounding Khao entirely, and the newly powered-up cyndaquil curls up and rolls right into Mei, bowling her over and leaving her to roll around on the ground herself, beating out the fire in her fur.

Even blaze can't save Khao from the fickle attention of his paralysis, though; no sooner have the flames around his body gone out than he finds himself unable to move again, forced to do his best to relax and wait for his limbs to start obeying him again. A rather singed Mei just curls up where she lies, eager to take advantage of any respite in order to beat back her fatigue. The two pokémon's vacations are about to get short, though. A great cloud of large shapes bursts out of the woods, keening cries preceding them as they swoop down at the pokémon who have infringed upon their territory.

Mei sits bolt upright, shielding her eyes with a paw. Her heart starts to hammer as she recognizes the shrieking pokémon descending on her as staraptor--exactly the kind of pokémon to eat little rodenty pokémon like Khao and herself. There's too many for her to hope to make a stand, even with her electricity; cursing her battle injuries, the pachirisu turns tail and flees as the staraptor descend. Khao's strangled squeal from behind her, and the anxious yells from the trainers that indicate that the humans aren't being spared, either, only spur her on. The sound of wings behind her lets the pachirisu know when to dart to the side, and a big bird goes sailing past, already letting out a cry of disappointment. But another attack follows the first, and Mei stumbles, sliding to a halt in the grass. She's on her feet again in a moment, but a dark shadow has already fallen over her; a big male staraptor blocks her path, the air around him humming with power and vicious intent fairly rolling off him.

Mei cowers as spinning orbs gather in the air around the bird, glittering in the sunlight, and with a flick of his wings the staraptor sends the wheeling balls of energy shooting at Mei, slamming her back into the grass. The Mei whimpers and covers her face with her tail, all courage gone, and waits for the next blow to come.

All that happens, though, is that the staraptor lets out an angry shriek and takes off, wheeling around towards the forest and flying off with an aerodactyl hot on his heels. As Mei glances up, she catches sight of the same pokémon chasing away a staraptor that had apparently been pecking at Khao. By this point, the whole flock is on the retreat, the referee's aerodactyl sweeping along behind them to make sure they don't change their minds about turning around and coming back.

Get back onto the ice, Mei! Try a Rain Dance, too. Maybe dance towards the ice or something so you can dance and get on the ice at the same time? If it's still raining after you've Rain Danced, try to use Thunder. If it is no longer raining by the time you're onto the ice, Charge Beam. If he tries to Protect or do anything else that would avert him from taking damage, use Fake Tears.

Alright, Khao, let's throw caution to the winds and end this. Blaze is activated; sweet. Very sweet. Quick Attack + Flare Blitz - you should have enough energy to pull it off, and it should knock Mei out. If you feel too confused/paralyzed to attack, just Chill, and shuffle the combo to your next action. However, if it's the 3rd action and you haven't been able to pull the combo off, uhm... Well, Flare Blitz by itself should be just enough to push Mei over the edge. Just don't want to take any chances with that Thunder.

- Rather traumatized. Now a few meters away from Khao.

Upon being dropped, Khao clutches at the earth, whimepering as the sounds of the staraptor and aerodactyl fade away into the distance. He's bruised, paralyzed, and at this point wants no more than to rest in his pokéball, where he can recover from his stomach-churning disorientation and will be in no danger of getting eaten by a giant bird.

It's the home stretch now, though. He can't just give up and wait for Mei to knock him out--he needs to take the battle to her. The fluxing red aura around his body represents the extra power lent to him by desperation; it's now or never if he wants to bring his victory home. Rising shakily to his feet, Khao calls up all the power he can muster, fire roaring up from his back and eddying around his body in a thick curtain. In the blink of an eye he's off, carving a flaming swatch through the long grass as he goes.

Mei has only just overcome her own terror and started to think about attacking when Khao comes hurtling out of the grass like a tiny meteor; stumbling backwards, she trips and falls--a fall that turns out to be a godsend for her, as rather than striking her head-on, he rushes into her side, spinning her around but not doing as much damage as he would have with a full-on hit. Even so, the power of the attack is tremendous; fire flares up around Mei, burning her fur, and the powerful blow to her side knocks the breath from her body. Both Mei and Khao, reeling from his own reckless attack, collapse in the grass, smoking and shocked.

Mei forces herself back to her paws again, vision swimming with black specks but determined not to go down yet. She can still fight--but can she also dance? Her steps seem clumsy and wearied as she starts edging her way back towards the ice. As she gets more into it, though, the rain dance starts to take on a life of its own, catching her up in its steps and lending new strength to her limbs. As Mei steps off the ground and out onto the ice again, not slipping in the least as she moves out onto the lake, ominous clouds billow in the sky overhead and a cold breeze sets the rushes on the edge of the pond to thrashing.

Khao lets out an unhappy whine as raindrops splatter the ground around him; his blaze aura vaporizes any that would otherwise fall on him before they can land, but he nevertheless feels the dampening of his firepower as a veritable downpour starts. And, with doleful storm clouds now encircling the arena, Mei can easily direct a lightning strike to anywhere in the arena, and that's exactly what she plans to do. The hair on Khao's back bristles as he catches a hint of ozone on the air around him; that can't be good. And indeed, a couple of seconds later, huge bolt of lightning roars down out of the clouds to strike him, temporarily blinding him with light and heat and only serving to worsen the paralysis clutching at his muscles.

Now Khao is more or less on par with Mei; the incredible thunder attack leaves him trembling with pain, his whole body burning from the intense electrical charge and his morale severely weakened. Worse, he's not sure what to do now; his combo was successful, but Mei's still fighting. At a loss for what else to do, Khao curls up in the grass and tries to chill, hoping to stave off his fatigue and maybe some of the pain shooting up and down his spine.

Mei wobbles a bit, drained from the use of such a powerful attack and still struggling to stay conscious despite her injuries. Unlike Khao, though, she's heartened by the idea that this just might be the last attack she needs to finish her opponent off. Charge popping and snapping through her fur, she unleashes a haphazard blast of electricity that sweeps out in all directions, jagged fingers raking through the grass in an ever-expanding ring. What portion of the shock wave attack manages to strike Khao is all it takes to tip the cyndaquil into unconsciousness; though he struggles to keep his eyes open despite the indignity of another electrical assault, his body has had enough and he quickly slides into darkness.

Victorious!

The end-of-battle formalities are a bit briefer than they might be under ordinary circumstances, but the trainers, rumpled and shaken by the recent staraptor attack, are in no mood to linger in the killer birds' territory. Mei and the comatose Khao are recalled and the three humans meet out in the center of the field. A handshake and a couple of quick words are exchanged between the battlers, and then it's time for the referee to dole out some cash: $16 to the victorious Alraunne, $6 for blazheirio889, and $10 for herself. With that, it's time to be away, the referee taking to the sky on her aerodactyl and the two trainers hurrying off through the forest--both looking nervous and being sure to leave from the opposite side of the arena than the one the staraptor came from.

Boo and Khao get one EXP each, while Retsurai gets two and Mei, three. Good battle.
