• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Open Dragon Cave - Grand Tourney

"Come oooooonnnn, Flareth." Jax complained, ramming into her owner.

"Don't do that." Flareth yelled, "I think you bruised my spine."

Scroll shook her head at Bernkastel, doing a graceful mid-air flip and giggling right after.

'I wanna see the other dragons! Dragons...!'

"Well, I guess I should introduce myself." wispered 'Dark' as she whent back inside, and stood, leaning on the door, waiting to be noticed.

Bernkastel chucked.
"I suppose I should have guessed as much. Well, there are some humans nearby if you're curious. Any particular species you want to meet?" she asked the hatchling.

Human:
Name: Hippus Lindenbuhrg
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: Though he often has a lot to say, he uses few words. He always is polite, and speaks quite. When he gets Riled however, he starts to speaks faster, uses gestures and often loses his sense of tact.

Bio: Hippus is in appearance, a fine example of a human being; he is attractive, smart, mildly wealthy, honest, and humble. But that is only the outside. Inside he is slowly dying as his body's insides are slowly deteriorating. When he was seventeen, he contracted a somewhat uncommon bacterial infection, something that was heard of every now and then, and not much of something to cause a ruckus about. However, he was the first human to ever contract it, normally it was a draconian ailment that was actually beneficial to its regular hosts.

But because of the simple fact that the anatomy of his body wasn't designed as a dragon's, the bacterial was slowly poisoning him, slowly spreading through out his body and changing the nature of his organs one by one. Although much of the alterations that the bacterial makes to organs is beneficial, the effects it has on the nervous system are not. The Human nervous system is drastically different from a dragons, and every time another organ is altered, it becomes less responsive to the brains signals, which are not as powerful in terms of strength of signal, as a dragons.

Eventually, it will either kill him when it reaches a truely vital organ like his lungs or heart, dying in a period of unresponsive~ness, or when it spreads to his brain. The doctor only told his father, Lavitz. The doctor told him there was no cure he could think of, except for maybe the workings of the best medical dragonologists. However, such a thing would cost far more than his father could afford.

In his panic, he made a desperate agreement with a dragon trainer by the name of Sholtz. The agreement was very simple, and promised Sholtz a profit regardless of the out come.

Shotlz would give Hippus a dragon to train and compete with in the grand tourney, a whole year before the event. If Hippus won, then he would walk away with the money and press to hopefully get in contact with the best doctors of draconic medicine. Shotlz would profit as well from the press, which would no doubt bring scores of customers.

If Hippus lost however, then everything that Lavitz had; his Home, his heirlooms, his land, and even his freedom would go to Shotlz, and hence be little more then a servant.

Dragons:
#1 - Ara
#2- N/A
#3- N/A
Other:

Dragon:
Name: Ara
Species: Rusaltian Fey
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Owner: Hippus
Powers: Illusion, Geomancy, Deflection, Dispersal, Telepathy

Appearance: Unlike other dragons, Rusaltian Fey are stay around the same size for their entire lives, and there personalities remain youthful and mischievous even at old ages. As large as a winged hatchling(slightly longer), they are known for their butterfly like wings, and their honey tinged odor. Their body structure is also unique, being long and slender yet at the same time having a definitive chest plate unlike more serpentine dragons. This is the picture I got the idea from

Personality: Like other of his kind Ara is extremely mischievous and perceptive, two traits that easily lead to pranks and jokes. Underneath his jolly demeanor though is a much more worried individual.

Bio: Pure Rusaltian Fey dragons are extremely rare, after being nearly hunted to death for their many useful organs which can be used to create powerful medicines of youth. When Ara was found as an Egg by veteran dragon rancher Shotlz, the old man contemplated using the egg to extend his own tired life. However in the end the man's compassion for dragons got the best of him, and he decided to raise the dragon instead.

It was hard for Sholtz to find a suitable buyer though. Although he recieved very large offers for Ara, those interested were never actually wanting a dragon, instead only wanting the valuable insides of the beast. Eventually Sholtz became more and more bitter towards humanity, who only seemed to be interested in their direct benefit, and without compassion towards dragons.

There was one suitable person Sholtz found though, as he neared the end of his career. A person who reeked of desperation, and a need for a dragon, and an old friend. Not at all like the others, Lavitz pleaded with Sholtz to lend him a dragon so that he might give his son a chance to live. At first Sholtz was insulted, believing his old time friend was after what all the other offers were looking to buy. However, as Lavitz explained, Sholtz's attitude softened. He had found in the desperation of his friend someone who would treat Ara with respect and humbleness.

But the years of bitterness had also taken its toll on Sholtz, and even with his heart raised, he was not completely convinced that the man's intents were as they seemed. So he made the man a deal for his very freedom, something that only a truly desperate person would do. When Lavitz accepted, it surprised Sholtz some, because he now knew without a doubt Ara had found a home.

Ara quickly bonded with the soft spoken Hippus, who was able to appreciate some of the more vogue jokes and pranks of his. The two grew quite close extremely fast, even surprising Shotlz. Ara's bond with him though was not just of friendship, but also of worry. He felt the fear that very quietly whispered from the way Hippus held himself. Ara could even taste it in the boy's thoughts, a slight tinge of fear. It wasn't the normal kind of fear though, like one might fear something that might happen. It was the fear of someone who had already accepted that something had happened, who silently stood awaiting the repercussions.

It scared Ara, who had grown attached to the boy. Every night he would search Hippus' dreams, but the secret of his fear was locked far to tightly in his mind, an impenetrable black box that existed in every fantasy he had in his sleep.

Other: Telepathy only works with closely bonded Humans and Dragons.

Moony-chan shakes her head and chuckles a bit at her dragons, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Are we going to stand here and chit chat, or are we going to meet the other Dragon Tamers?"

With that, she walks past them towards the smell of food and the ound of dragons already eatting in the building.

"...we better there soon before the place is cleaned out of food"
