Arena: A field in Holon
A flat, almost completely so, green, thriving field in a supposedly fictional region. Encircling where the battlers will be are odd glowing stones, of a hue of every colour imaginable. Strangely, there are only seventeen stones, though these shift colour every now and then.
There is a legend in Holon, about Pokemon that are not the types they should be, like Psychic Vileplumes or Electric Pidgeots. For a while, this has been only a legend, until such Pokemon where actually found. In Holon, this field is a national park, though small, so destruction is frowned upon, though for whatever reason, Trainers may come to battle, or watch battles here every once in a while.
Not a very smart idea, on the government's part.
Every round, there is an 80% chance of the battling Pokemon spontaneously changing types. Their weaknesses, resistances, and STAB are not the only things that change, however, the Pokemon is coated in an aura of the colour of the type they have changed into, red for Fire, for example, that has a 20% chance of doing 1% damage of whatever type the aura is on contact. These changes fade at the end of each round, though the next round there is still an 80% of a type change. What type the Pokemon changes into is up to the referee.
On the side, there is a small pond for aquatic Pokemon, about twenty feet square and seven meters deep.
Based on the TCG.
With hardly a moment’s hesitation, Involuntary Twitch fastened Sarae’s Pokeball back onto her belt and took another one. There was a burst of white light as Twitch threw the red-and-white sphere, and Phanel the Kadabra materialized from the Pokeball. He stretched his arms before looking around the arena with a clinical interest. Meanwhile, Ed’s face had broken out in a ridiculous grin when he heard his trainer promise an imminent evolution.

For the umpteenth time this battle, the seventeen stones started mixing up their colours in flashes of light and dark. Phanel, new to the arena, watched them curiously for a few seconds before turning away, his head spinning. After several more moments half of the stones turned a pale sky blue, while the other half took on a colour that actually made them look like normal rocks. Ed and Phanel started glowing sky blue and grayish-brown, respectively. A few seconds after that, Ed inexplicably rose up about a foot in the air, albeit still on his side. The piranha thrashed for a few seconds before realizing the strange force wouldn’t let go anytime soon.
After the battling Pokemons’ types were changed, Phanel was the first to move. He crossed his spoons in front of his face and squeezed his eyes shut in concentration. Immediately, there was a shimmer in the air around the Kadabra, which quickly solidified into a translucent golden dome. Phanel’s eyes remained closed even when the Reflect stopped flickering, though, as though making sure it didn’t collapse on itself when he divided his concentration. Ed took advantage of this pause and started coughing and hacking horribly. Once again he located harmful toxins spread out through his body and forced them into his mouth, pulling a face at the taste of the sludge. He twisted around and attempted to get a good angle at which to spit the Toxic at Phanel, but gave up after a few seconds. Floating was hard on a fish. Instead he remained levitating on his side and wildly spat the attack at his opponent, praying that it would hit. By pure luck it sailed through the air, wobbly but true, and hit Phanel square in the forehead. The Kadabra grunted in surprise and pain and tried to wipe away the purple liquid, but the fast-acting toxins had already seeped through his skin and into his flesh. Ed grinned triumphantly, but suddenly jerked violently to the side; Phanel's extraordinary psychic powers had subconciously balanced out the two battlers' physical state, causing the Carvanha to experience the discomfort of his own toxins
Deciding that he could do nothing about the Toxic, Phanel shook out his arms and cupped his spoons together. Several seconds later, the faint pop and crackle of electricity could be heard; with a smirk, the Kadabra let his spoons snap back and release the potent ball of electricity that had formed inside the small hollow formed by his cutlery. The little hissing orb stayed like that for a split second more before violently exploding outward, sweeping the entire arena and flooding all nearby Pokemon with a burning sensation. Two foraging Pidgey, a Rattata, and not to mention Ed himself all shrieked in unison as the fizzling streamers wrapped around them before flicking off and dissipating. Despite the fact that he was a Water-type no longer, Ed felt the same pain he would’ve felt if he hadn’t switched types. Trying to push the pain out of his mind, he lowered her internal body temperature until it was just a hair above freezing. Then, twisting around so his large mouth pointed at Phanel, he opened his jaws in a terrifying display of gleaming white teeth and exhaled a mighty breath. Because Ed’s body temperature was so low, the exhalation blew over Phanel in a flurry of snowflakes and ice crystals and actually left a thin coat of ice on a few parts of his body. The Kadabra shivered, suddenly feeling less mobile and nimble.
Even with the speed decrease from the Icy Wind, though, Phanel was still faster than Ed by a long shot. Once again, he cupped his spoons together and drew static from the atmosphere, forming it into an erratic ball. Once he was satisfied, he jerked his arms back and let the electricity burst outwards in a wave of pulsating energy. Ed bit back a yell when the attack flooded him with electrical power, causing his muscles to spasm until the wave had passed.
As the electricity slowly left Ed’s body, it was replaced by a dark rage. No matter what type the glowing stones changed him, his opponents always managed to target his weakness! Not to mention he didn’t appreciate getting his body flooded with electricity. He was a fish, damnit, a fish! You just don’t electrocute fish! Angrily he wreathed his body with a bitter, shadowy aura, which writhed and reached out towards Phanel, almost giddy with the prospect of revenge. In the blink of an eye, Ed had thrashed his way through the air towards his opponent and was now gnashing ferociously at any limb he could get at with his teeth. The golden dome around Phanel was difficult to pass through, thus making the attack significantly less powerful, but no less vicious. The dark energy surrounding the fish was aiding in the cruel, unrelenting assault, lashing at Phanel at every chance it got, the blows made powerful by Ed’s wrath. Eventually the piranha was too tired to keep up the onslaught, but the damage was considerable: Phanel was now wide-eyed and backing away slightly, cringing from his new cuts and bruises.
