This cave has very minimal lighting, and proves to be difficult to see, except for nocturnal/dark/feline/fire pokemon. Despite this, there are no natural obstacles, and ranged attacks have no obstructions. The cave also has a couple small pools of water, and is quite damp.

Other:
Darkness: 50% chance of ranged attack missing unless attacker is above mentioned exception. 10% chance of melee attack missing.
Damp atmosphere: All combatants have dampened skin/fur/whatever and take 2% less fire damage, and 2% more electric.
Water Pools: Weaker water attacks can be used. Stronger attacks requiring more water cannot be used.

Chikorita, eh?

Then Onikami, hit the floor.

I don't know what we're in store for, so Howl to make yourself better than you already are, then follow with Yawn to force the little plant thing to sleep, though if it protects, use howl again, last but not least, if Yawn was your last action, fire fang now, if not, Yawn.

Howl ~ Yawn/Howl ~ Ice Fang/Yawn

(This is allowed, right?)

Use Safeguard, for it protects us from status conditions and makes us happy.

Then use Swords Dance, because we like that one too.

Then I would like you to use Fury Cutter, but if Onikami isn't close to you at the beginning of the action use Flash instead.

Safeguard ~ Swords Dance ~ Fury Cutter/Flash

...Yeah we'll stick with this.

Not sure if I'm allowed to do this but, Kratos you have one day.

Edit: Until the end of the day, then I'm going to the emergency refs.

Yes, Eon Spirit, you are allowed to give the ref reminders. However, the DQ time has not yet arrived. All DQ times start from the last relevant post made in the thread, in this case Athasan's post four days ago. I still have time to complete my work. In addition, it usually takes me the full week to get around to completing all of my reffings, so more often than not (unless I have a lot of free time and am in the mood to get them done early) you'll probably only be seeing me with the next round around the 6-day mark. Just for future reference about the pace I work at.

Anyway, what I really wanted to post about was this: you ordered Fire Fang earlier in your commands but then Ice Fang in your summary. Which is it?

ICe, my brain stalled in the long thing, whereas I was sure in short response...sorry for the confusion, and impatience...

Round One: Begin

Eerie drips and plops echo around the cave as water droplets fall from stalactites and into pools hidden by the darkness and low visibility. Kahen shudders with nervousness and cold. This place is creepy, very creepy, and it makes her feel uncomfortable. Hoping that it will go some way toward making her feel a bit more at ease, the Chikorita summons a thin barrier of pale, golden energy, wrapping the gossamer barrier around her. It does precious little to cast more light in the cave and does not stave off the cold, but its presence does soothe her nerves just a little bit.

Onikami's red eyes, more accustomed to the dark than Kahen's, settle on the golden, glowing Chikorita after taking a quick look around the open, empty cavern. His opponent looks nervous--good. The Poochyena throws his head back and gives voice to a long, loud howl that echoes around the cave. Kahen shrieks when she hears the noise and tries to cower behind her gauzy shield, covering her ears with her hooves. Onikami sneers, enjoying his foe's fear. It's only going downhill from here, toots.

Kahen and her safeguard back away a few paces from where she hopes the sound was coming from--the reverberations make it very difficult to tell, and a dark gray Poochyena is so hard to see in this light--and takes a deep breath to calm herself down. Deep breathing on its own isn't enough to help her relax, however. The Chikorita shuffles her feet in a tentative little dance, trying to distract herself and push the frightening howling out of her mind. After a few seconds she starts to feel better and picks up the pace, dancing more frenetically and erratically as her confidence grows. Her leaf cuts wild arcs through the air, her hooves clatter loudly each time she lands, the nervous look on her face gives way to one of energy and confidence. Kahen comes to a rest at last, panting slightly and glaring a challenge in Onikami's general direction.

Onikami snorts. Well. So much for intimidation. But it doesn't bother him too much--all the confidence in the world won't save her if she's sleeping like an overfed Snorlax. He stretches luxuriously on the cold floor, exposing his tongue and all of his teeth in an exaggerated yawn. He blinks sleepily for effect and then turns to Kahen, expecting to see her yawning as well. But she isn't. She's giving a derisive snort of her own. Tired? Her? With all this adrenaline rushing through her? As if, man, as if.

Before Onikami has a chance to rethink his strategy the cave is suddenly flooded with retina-searing white light. The Poochyena's eyes, so accustomed to the dim lighting, sting horribly as the overpowering light flashes repeatedly on and off. The flashing stops and the temporarily illuminated cave is dark once again, but the damage is done: Onikami can hardly see. His narrowed, watering eyes can barely make out a fuzzy, light greenish shape where Kahen should probably be, but that's it; he can't see the look of smug satisfaction on her face, can't see her mouthing Did you enjoy the light show? All he knows is that that bloody light is all his opponent's fault, regardless of whatever her reaction might be. Furious, he staggers forward, snarling and baring his fangs. Kahen is so busy congratulating herself on her clever trick that she doesn't pay much attention to the dark-type steadily advancing on her and fails to notice the details that come into sharper focus as he draws nearer--the glinting of sharp, white teeth, the faint, icy blue mist he exhales with every breath. By the time she does notice it's too late--Onikami's fangs, chilled to painfully cold sub-zero temperatures, are already sinking into the side of her face before she can move out of the way. The Chikorita struggles for a few seconds but then stops, thinking better of it; pulling back might just cause the flesh to tear even more, making any injuries worse. All Kahen can do is sit there and take it as her foe gnaws away at the skin under her eye and wait for him to let go.

Onikami releases her and backs off at last, still growling vehemently. Kahen winces and paws at her face; a little bit of blood comes away on her hoof. That really hurt...

-Athasan attacks first next round.

Hmmm... Okay.

The plan of attack for this round is one Leech Seed, followed by a Toxic and a Fury Cutter. However, use Natural Gift instead of the previously mentioned moves if Onikami isn't nearby.

Leech Seed/Natural Gift ~ Toxic/Natural Gift ~ Fury Cutter/Natural Gift

Well, that was productive...shame your eyes were damaged, we'll have to work with that...

Lets see...well, we need you at the top of your game, so how about Odor Sleuth to get past that little accuracy bout. We don't need to get close yet, so use Howl again, then to finish it up, use Ice fang.

Round Two: Begin

Taking advantage of the close quarters before her opponent backs into complete darkness again, Kahen twirls her leaf and flings a small seed over at the Poochyena. The projectile sails wide of its mark, however, clattering against the floor where Kahen had been sure Onikami was standing. Glad that the... whatever it was didn't strike him, Onikami sits back and takes a deep breath, inhaling sharply through his nostrils. His little red nose flares as his sniffs the air vigorously, getting a good bead on Kahen's scent so that he doesn't make a similar mistake; now that he's got another way to figure out her location, he can shut his burning eyes and give them a rest while they recover.

Kahen blushes and curses her luck--what an embarrassing miss!--and takes a few steps forward. With his eyes closed as they are Onikami cannot see the purple liquid dribbling from the Chikorita's mouth, and so he is caught completely off-guard when his opponent spits the liquid all over his face with a disgusting, wretching noise. Onikami's eyes snap open with fright as he feels the slimy, sticky mess ooze slowly down his snout, sizzling as it eats into his skin. He staggers back and lets out a howl, this one much more pained and panicky than the last; it does do a little bit to calm him down, but simply howling doesn't make the pain around his nose go away. He would probably feel a little better if he took another glance at Kahen and saw the gossamer barrier fading out of existence, but this goes unnoticed.

Emboldened by her success, Kahen bounds forward with her leaf whirling through the air. It slashes into Onikami's tender face without warning, opening a thin but painful cut that runs down the length of the hyena's snout and allows the toxic venom to seep into his bloodstream even faster. Onikami howls again and lunges forward, doing his best to focus on Kahen's scent and not on the fact that his face feels as though it is on fire. His superchilled fangs dig into the Chikorita again, this time burying themselves deep under her left eye.

-Leech Seed missed.

Well we get back at the accuracy for a small period of time, but niow poison, can't fix that, sorry boy. Though that does bring up an idea, fight fire with fire, or in this case, poison with poison, use poison fang once, if your near her by round two, and it looks as if she's going to attack, use payback, otherwise, poison fang again. Finish it up with Ice Fang, let that chill settle in.

Poison Fang ~ Payback/Poison Fang ~ Ice Fang

We're going to use Fury Cutter in the most creative ways possible! Well, okay, maybe we're not going to use it very creatively, but we are going to use it all round. But if you miss with it on some action or another, start using Razor Leaf after that.

Round Three: Begin

Kahen continues whirling her leaf around, slicing through the air and then through Onikami's tender face. The Poochyena yelps and stumbles backward but recovers quickly, snapping at the flailing leaf with fangs oozing with clear poison. The poison fails to take and simply slides off of the slick-skinned leaf, but Kahen grimaces with pain all the same.

With the right side of her leaf now sporting a lovely set of painful fangmarks, Kahen swings the left edge into her opponent's face instead. Onikami is a bit more prepared this time; even as he flinches from the deeper cut he ducks under the leaf's second swing and barrels into Kahen before she can back out of range of his blurred vision, knocking her further from the center of the cave with impressive force. Kahen staggers under her adversary's weight and falls, the sore side of her face striking the cold, stony ground. She whimpers as she stands up; the Poochyena's face is badly torn up by now, but she really doesn't feel so good herself.

Tears of pain and frustration well up in Kahen's red eyes as she lets fly with her most vicious slash yet, this one opening an ugly gash across Onikami's black muzzle. The Poochyena's sharp squeals echo around the cave, and it takes him a good while to collect himself. Now whimpering quite loudly himself and completely forgetting about trying to track Kahen by her scent, Onikami lunges again with icy-cold fangs bared. He only manages to grab a leg this time instead of the already open facial wound he'd intended to exacerbate, but in the end it elicits an agonized moan from the Chikorita anyway.

Round Four: Begin

More piercing whistling fills the cave as Kahen's leaf sails through the air and into Onikami's face, opening an even deeper gash. Onikami is on her before she has a chance to back away, flailing and snapping and pummeling for all he's worth. Kahen sinks to the ground under the force of the blows and tries to shield her face and chest with her leaf, but to no avail; the dark-type batters mercilessly away at his foe, his eyes finally clearing and locked on her. The only way he can ignore his own pain is to make sure that Kahen is hurting just as badly.

At last Kahen is able to scrabble away from Onikami's furious assault and give herself room for another wild, desperate slash. This one misses her opponent's face but manages to slice into the side of Onikami's neck before whizzing past. Onikami staggers to the side, eyes watering something awful; he does his best to blink away the tears before baring his fangs and stumbling forward, clear venom dripping from his mouth; he is not terribly successful, however, and his final lunge carries him wide of his mark and leaves him chomping down on dark, empty air.

Emboldened by her opponent's blunder, Kahen takes another mighty swing at the snarling Poochyena leering at her from the shadows. The tattered, bloodied edge of her leaf slices cleanly into the latticework of cuts across Onikami's face, opening up the deepest wound yet. It proves to be too much pain and blood loss for Onikami to handle--his vision, which mere moments ago had been restored to its former clarity, blurs and fades to black as he sinks to the cave floor, unconscious. Kahen sighs with relief and backs away, tired and worried but triumphant.
