• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Magic is a peculiar thing.

The common folk doesn't understand how magic works, and being that magic is reserved for the higher ranks of society this is not very surprising. Though in reality magic is a very simplistic concept and even a commoner could gain access to it were they to understand the basics.

Magic is extending yourself beyond your reach.

Right, that is a very cryptic way to put it. To express it in a clearer way, everyone has a self. The self is not your physical body, but all things that make up an individual. It's effectively a person's soul, in a sense. The art of magic is about manipulating your self to interact with the world beyond your body. When a mage is levitating something, he is actually lifting it into the air, but without touching it.

That's a bit clearer, isn't it?

Of course, this does not explain how a mage can create things from thin air, bend the elements to his will or heal the sick with his touch, now does it? This is where magic becomes complicated. The aforementioned magic, called "Outer Magic" by it's practitioners, can only be done via the creation and manipulation of a "Façade."

A Façade is a supernatural but physical manifestation of one's self. Creating one takes years of preparation and practice, but once it has been created, it can be summoned on a whim. A Façade can only be seen by others who have created one themselves, and are the source of Outer Magic.

On the other hand, the kind of Outer Magic one can use is also limited by the Façade, and changing your Façade would actually require you changing as a person, as it is a manifestation of your self.
But of course, you were fully aware of all this already. Because you're a magical prodigy. The elite of the elite who could summon your Façade at an implausibly young age. Which is why you were sent Royal Magic University, where the best go to become even better.

RIGHT!
Let's make a few things clear.
  • This RP is HEAVILY inspired by the Persona franchise. I was interested in making an RP based on it but I doubt there's enough interest, so I created something similar but not based on already existing ground.
  • This takes place in a Fantasy setting with a mild Magitek theme. As long as you have basic knowledge of fantasy you should be fine in the setting.
  • I am a harsh DM. I can easily decline you if I think you if I think your Façade is bland, or something petty like that.
  • On the topic of Façades, I want you to be creative here. And I mean creative for real. This is something that is heavily based on Persona again, and Persona was absolutely crazy when it came to designs. For reference, just look at what the franchise did with Prometheus, The Shinto God of Thunder, The Messiah and even Caesar himself! Just keep it humanoid and fitting the personality of your character. Within these limits, you can go BATSHIT

With that said, CHARACTER FORM

Name: (Keep it fantasy-esque)
Gender:
Age: (13-21)

Appearance: (You're human, you can work from there. Clothing should fit the fantasy theme, of course.)

Personality: (This is important, you know)

Façade: (I don't think I can stress this enough: BE CREATIVE! There are two small limitations, it must be humanoid, as in anthropomorphic, as in human-shaped. And it must actually work in the context of your character. Otherwise, go wild)

Other: (Anything else?)

Alright, let's hope this goes anywhere

Re: Façades [OPEN]

This is badass okay. I'm interested, though I probably won't be able to write a form 'til Friday so reserve me for now.

Re: Façades [OPEN]

Name: Celia Demitor
Gender: Female
Age: 17

Appearance: Celia wears her shoulder-length blonde hair up in a pony tail along with her red robes that cover her blue tunic with grey, cloth-bound fur pants along with her black, fingerless gloves and leather boots.

Personality: Celia is a calm girl that lives to smell the roses, even though she's a little afraid of getting pricked by the thorns. But is very concentrated when she needs to be.

Façade: Celia's façade appears as a green aura that loosk like a wise sage that appears to be dressed in a cloak with a hood over half his face. This façade was made in Celia's imagination when she thought of what the best Mage looked like, but there was never really a face for said mage. But this sage of a façade is intelligent and very wise. This is also part of Celia's "best mage" ideal.

Other: Nope.

Re: Façades [OPEN]

Name: Korona Burrow
Gender: Male
Age: 14

Appearance: A tall, brown haired teenager with hazel eyes. His hair is short but messy. He wears brown fur boots, brown leggings, and a light blue fur tunic that hangs down to his thighs, held in place by a belt made of (surprise) brown fur. He also has a hooded cape made of feathers, that hangs from his shoulders to his waist.*

Personality: Quiet and shy, with a dark outlook on life and politics. Korona is a skilled magician but generally cannot be bothered to do much. Wherever he goes, disaster follows, and for this reason he didn't want to go to the Royal Magic University

Façade: A huge suit of intricate but blocky black armour, complete with war axe. Inscribed on every surface of the armour, and the blade of the axe, are hundreds of runes, mostly relating to disaster, death and doom.

Other: For what Korona wears, think Fur Armour from Skyrim. But blue.

Re: Façades [OPEN]

Right I probably be taking care of this shouldn't I?

Windyragon reserved.

Magnemite and Anomaly 54 accepted, though this is the very minimum I expect to see.

Re: Façades [OPEN]

Name: Zaferin 'Zaffy' Sassayhin
Gender: M
Age: 18

Appearance: Zaffy is shorter than average, standing at a meager 5' 9", and only weighs about 155 lbs. His build is agile, but in no way muscular, thus being lanky and not very sturdy.

Zaffy keeps his naturally jet black hair somewhat long and messy, and it usually reaches just beyond the back of his neck. His golden eyes are often glazed over, usually due to daydreaming, and he wears a small obsidian earring in his left ear. Zaffy wears an outfit similar to this, with the exception of the hood, and the blue is an ashen grey. Zaffy also has a jagged birthmark upon his left shoulderblade. Zaffy is also sufficiently tanned.

Personality: Zaffy is lax, and often loses concentration on his studies, falling into daydreaming about ideas of what he could do if he had some sort of power. Zaffy is quite intelligent and can find himself outsmarting his peers often enough. Zaffy is a kind soul, and finds little need to harm others, just simply disable or pacify anyone who would threaten his wellbeing.

Façade: Zaffy's Facade is an oversized and powerfully built man with a thick, dark grey beard and four burly arms. The Facade also possesses three foot mammoth tusks emerging from his upper lips, near the base of the jaw. In each of the hands are a seperate object, the upper left; a warhammer, the upper right; a shield, the lower left a staff, and the lower right; an orb. The man is dressed in a full suit of (Daedric) armour, with the exception of a helmet.

Other: -N/A-
