Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill

The anti-Britishness coming from the US at the moment is massively uncalled for, and has turned my vague fondness of Obama into a rather strong dislike of him. He singlehandedly wiped several million pounds off of British pension funds through his comments, to start with, and seems to be too combative against everything in general. In particular, his use of the phrase "British Petroleum" the other day just signalled further anti-British rhetoric, when if you look more closely, the accident occurred in American waters in an American branch of the company, run by Americans.

I'm sorry, but what? What "anti-Britishness?" Yes, people are absolutely furious with BP over this, and rightly so, but angry with Britain? I've seen absolutely nothing of the sort, and this all has nothing to do with Obama. Any comments involving using the company's goddamn name did not "signal further anti-British rhetoric." You guys are losing money because people fucking hate this company, and it happens to be based over there, not because we think this to be all your fault. People are going FUCK YOU BP, not FUCK YOU BRITAIN, where the hell did you get the idea that it was the other way around?

It is no longer legally called "British Petroleum". The White House has been calling it "British Petroleum" in most of its official documents.

BREAKING NEWS!!! BP says the oil leak is, infact, plugged. they are going to let pressure build in a cap, and then go test for integrity and leaks.

Oh no they're using an outdated name.

Seriously, what is your point here, exactly? Calling it by it British Petroleum hasn't exactly gotten the whole country out for your heads. I realize you'd like to distance yourselves from the company as much as possible but you were never really seen as having a whole lot of involvement in it in the first place.

And I'd still like to see an example of this so-called anti-Britishness, because I'm genuinely calling bullshit on it.

so? I haven't heard of anyone anywhere saying that this is the UK's fault or hating them. I think the issue that most people are actually angry at and annoyed about is how much damage it's made (and is going to make) to the ecosystems there. :|

and what is it legally called now? because if it's just 'BP' then this point is rather moot because everyone knows it stands for British Petroleum anyway.
