• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

I'm no expert on this, but, items please!

But I can tell you these things for facts:
You DON'T want four water-type moves on Miltoic
You DON'T want a Butterfree with three powder moves (but that's mostly me)
Ancient Power is probably NOT the best rock-type move for your Mamoswine
Poison is a terrible offenive-type (or so I've been told)
You probably DON'T want two fighting-type pokemon

as far as ratings go...

Lucario: 5. I've seen better Lucarios, with better movesets. He is more of a physical attacker, if memory serves.

Latias: 5. I'm not sure what psycho shift does, but you definately don't want fly here. It's a two-turn attack that your opponent can use to get out a better match, or try to Blizzard you.

Mamoswine: He doesn't need two Ice-type attacks. Give it a boosting move, or something like that. Overall, 6-7.

Milotic: Your Milotic wants a more diverse moveset. If it doesn't have swift swim, get rid of Rain dance, definately. You can keep Surf, and Ice beam is usually recommended. 3.

Butterfree: 4. Your Butterfree is better off with Psychic, and Aerial Ace, or something of the sort. Poisonpowder is good, but Stun Spore has little use.

Blaziken: 5. If he can learn Stone Edge, you definitely want it to have it. I would think that Blast Burn is not recommended mostly because 1. you have to recharge, and 2. sure its powerful, but isn't Blaziken more of a physical attacker?

Overall rating: 4. This team has good potential, I think, but it quite isn't there yet. Maybe, and this is just me, but some of the pokemon could be changed, like instead of Lucario, i would have a Gallade here, just because he can learn Psycho Cut, and is both fighting and psychic-type, so he has more diversities. Once again, I want to see the items. I'm gonna go away now before I say something completely stupid, because I am just beginning to understand what I'm talking about here. ALSO!: natures. state them.

Given that I'm not a competitive battler for the most part I can't rate the team itself too well, but I have to respond to Zack's comments anyhow:

Lucario: 5. I've seen better Lucarios, with better movesets. He is more of a physical attacker, if memory serves.

... Lucario's special attack is 115, vs 110 attack. You can use it as either.

Latias: 5. I'm not sure what psycho shift does, but you definately don't want fly here. It's a two-turn attack that your opponent can use to get out a better match, or try to Blizzard you.

Psycho Shift transfers the user's status effect onto the target and is a terrible move. Also yes, Fly sucks, but what is the Blizzard comment there for? Very few people use Blizzard unless they're using the Hail/Blizzard combo, and since most things that use that are Ice-types, Latias would be pretty foolish to stay in in the first place.

Butterfree: 4. Your Butterfree is better off with Psychic, and Aerial Ace, or something of the sort. Poisonpowder is good, but Stun Spore has little use.

... what? Poison is terrible in competitive play. Paralysis is terrific. Also Butterfree's attack sucks; Aerial Ace is no good.

Blaziken: 5. If he can learn Stone Edge, you definitely want it to have it. I would think that Blast Burn is not recommended mostly because 1. you have to recharge, and 2. sure its powerful, but isn't Blaziken more of a physical attacker?

Blaziken's attack is 120, while its special attack is 110. Like Lucario, it can go either way, but it is better off with physical moves because physical Fighting moves are generally better than special ones.

Numerical ratings are useless. I should also point out now that this doesn't belong in the competitive battling forum, since it's an in-game team.

Well, I did say that I'm no expert...

Sorry if I have a tendency to keep picking on stuff you say, but if you're not really an expert, I suggest that you don't post here a whole lot until you know what you're talking about, else you'll just get shot down by others. If you want to become an expert in the competitive battling field I suggest you check out other threads here as well as Smogon.

Please rate this pokemon from HGSS:

Gallade
Ability: Steadfast
Moveset:
Stone Edge
Leaf Blade
X-Scissor
Pyscho Cut

...? What is the point of that post? Are you trying to get your own pokemon critiqued? that is not the point of this thread. If you have a competitive team you want help with, start your won thread, please.
