Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

I need fifth gen help

Chief Zackrai

pingpong wixard
So, I've been trying to make a fifth gen team, but I'm lost for the last two pokemon. Here's what I have:

478.png

Timid w/Cursed Body @Choice Scarf
4 Hp, 252 SAtt, 252 Spe
-Destiny Bond
-Spikes
-Ice Beam
-Trick

Hopefully I'll trick my scarf to a Stealth Rock user and temporarily cripple it. Maybe set up some spikes eventually.

620.png

Jolly/Adamant w/Regenerator @Life Orb
4 Hp, 252 Att, 252 Spe
-Drain Punch
-U-turn
-Stone Edge
-Fake-Out

I'm trying to make a reusable Life Orb sweeper. U-Turn for the quick heal, and Brick Break for general sweeping. DERP, suggestions for where to put Hidden Power (Ice).

217.png

Jolly w/Quick Feet @Toxic Orb
4 Hp, 252 Att, 252 Spe
-Protect
-Facade
-Crunch
-Close Combat/Cross Chop

I Protect the first turn, so I get poisoned for free, and then hopefully get to outrun and sweep. I changed from Ground to Fighting because I figured that anything that can be dealt with with Ground can just as easily be dealt with with Fighting. Usually.

308.png

Jolly/Adamant w/Pure Power @Choice Band
-Drain Punch
-Psycho Cut
-Bullet Punch
-Ice Punch

The last one I have chosen for the time being, I use this in my fighting mono, and he does pretty excellent, one-hitting most pokemon.

So, as you can see I'm lacking both bulky pokemon and special sweepers, so suggestions for that. Thanks in advance, and I am open to change with the existing pokemon.

You need things to take hits.

Like, err... walls. Yeah, that would be helpful, as pretty much all of your team is pretty frail and is beaten solidly by any scarfed dragon playing with Outrage. Namely Haxorus.

Also you definitely want Drain Punch on your Medicham.

Mienshao desperately needs Hi Jump Kick. Brick Break just has so much less power, and Mienshao is frail enough so that missing a KO might be fatal. The 50% recoil on miss isn't so bad - you just have to be wary of ghosts. Also not sure what you're going for with Poison Jab there - terrible attacking type, you're better off using HP Ice or Fake Out.

Granbull is completely outclassed by Ursaring with that set you're using, except maybe it can take physical hits a /bit/ better with Intimidate. I still highly recommend Ursaring though.

Lord of the Fireflies is correct - Drain Punch is great in this generation. Also, get rid of Fire Punch - you'll hit the steel types with Drain Punch, anyway. Instead, consider Trick, or Bullet Punch if you want some priority.

For a wall, try Blissey or Umbreon.
For a special attacker, CHANDELURE. A Choice Specs one, maybe.

More later, maybe.

isn't HP a special attack, always? just curious here

I... didn't even realize Ursaring gets quick feet.

I think I'll take Bullet Punch here- I tend to like really slow pokemon for no reason

Yeah, it is. But Ice is an excellent coverage type, and Mienshao has a respectable 95 base special attack. You will have to change the nature though. If you don't want that, go with Fake Out. Actually, Drain Punch is also an option if you want that, though priority is always nice.

If you need a special sweeper, you could definitely go Starmie. Thunderbolt, Psychic, Ice Beam, Surf, Grass Knot, it has a lot of things to play with. Plus Recover, if you like, though with sweeping you hopefully won't be taking a lot of hits. Starmie's pretty fast.

Personally I like Hydro pump in favor of Surf, Thunder instead of Tbolt, Psychic stays in place and instead of GK/Ice Beam I use Blizzard.

Much more damage, much more risk! It usually pays off though.

I've done Starmie before. Much happier with Jolteon.

The fact that it is wasn't the issue; in fact I have been wanting to try Mienshao as a Mixed sweeper for a while now, so. And I /think/ Fake Out is what I meant to put, but Poison Jab had recently caught my attention for no real reason.

Latios is nice for a special sweeper. If you want a special attacker and bulky Pokemon at the same time, try Reuniclus.

...Isn't he and Uber?

And actually something that came to mind for a bulky special sweeper was Porygon2 with eviolite.

Something like this:

233.png

Quiet w/Analytic @Eviolite
252 Hp 252 SAtt 4 Def
-Tri-Attack
-Recover
-Ice Beam
-Thunderbolt/other

Analytic is an interesting ability; and with him I can get a bulky(ish) sweeper that has access to the coveted Boltbeam coverage that Starmie brandishes with such swagger, and I get Tri-attack, which is always nice if you're a Normal sweeper.

For Porygon2, you can consider Trace to turn him into a utility counter of sorts. Send it in on Jolteon to trace Volt Absorb, neuter Gyarados with its own Intimidate, etc. The power boost from Analytic is nice, but Download can give you an even bigger boost if you send it in on a specially weak Pokemon. Higher risk, but higher return.

The moveset is great, though.

Or even straight-out Thunder Wave instead of Tri Attack. In fact, you can put Toxic there too, if you want support options. Too lazy to look up anything else xP

Considering you have all those slow Pokémon, Discharge on Pory is preferable due to higher paralysis rate.

...Slow? Froslass has base 110 speed, and Mienshao has base 105 speed. I'll give you Ursaring, but that's the point of Quick Feet, and Medicham is faster than Heatran, unscarfed. I'm not entirely disagreeing with you; paralysis is great unless they throw Trick Room at you, but I don't necessarily get what you're trying to get at.

Ursaring, even with Quick Feet, is outpaced by a shitton of Pokémon. Also, 80 base speed is kinda low for an offensive Pokémon (Heatran is slow btw), so paralyzing things like Latios and Thunderbro and others would be helpful.

It would easily worth the 15 base power at least.

Ursaring can actually outpace base 105s after the quick feet boost. Unfortunately, Mienshao also has 105 base speed, so you'll have trouble with Pokemon like Terakion, Infernape, Latios, Thundurus, Azelf... The list goes on. Froslass may be able to take a few of those on, but it's quite frail and probably won't be lasting long.

I haven't really gotten into the 5th Gen Competitive scene, is Slaking still viable? I know I used one in 4th Gen and it was fantastic. A lot faster than you'd expect.

Or, if you want to go the slow route, I had a lead Slowbro that basically spammed Special moves. It pissed a lot of peopel off because they weren't expecting it. Plus nobody remembers that it can use Flamethrower.

For a fat rock beast Terakion is stupidly fast >:T

What if I grabbed a scarf abuser? Like Flygon or Lucario? Teach them Dragon Pulse because it hits just about everything neutral, including most of the pokemon you just mentioned. If I chose Flygon I could go:

330.png

Modest/Timid w/Levitate @Choice Scarf
4 Hp 252 SAtt 252 Spe
-Dragon Pulse
-Earth Power
-Flamethrower
-Hiden Power (Grass)

Um, standard special Flygon stuff, I guess. HP Grass because I always like to have grass-type moves for reasons like Swampoert, Rhyperior, Donphan, etc.

448.png

Timid w/Inner Focus @Choice Scarf
4 Hp 252 SAtt 252 Spe
-Dragon Pulse
-Vacuum Wave
-Aura Sphere
-Hidden Power (Fire/Grass)

Yes, I know, its another Fighting Type, but he does have Toxic Spikes immunity. He's also slightly faster than Flygon.
