Help me build my weather machine my evil minions!
Many centuries ago, a harsh war was fought between the empires of the world. Greeks, Romans, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Persians and Phoenicians all were locked in a bloody battle that seemed to have no end. Finally, there was a stop to the fighting. A portal emerged in the middle of the battlefield and twelve young men and women stepped out. They each carried a stone in their hands.
You must stop this madness, or the world will fall to ruin. These stones, we hope they will be able to subdue the thoughts of war and bring peace to this once tranquil world. But, we need watchers of the stone to ensure their safety.
Slowly, one man and woman from each empire slowly came up and took a stone with them. They held it tight, for fear of the consequences of losing it.
All that now possess a stone must carry a great burden with them. But do not fear, for the stones have powers which will help you to protect it. We must now go back, to our world. May peace be with all
The empires went on to forget their differences and create treaties. They traded together and prospered with one another along side. But then, one day a new Emperor of Rome came to power, Manius Plinius Silvanus, and he set out to take over the other lands. The empires weren't prepared for such betrayal, and soon fell to the mighty Roman Empire. After a few hundred years, though, the Gauls came to Rome and destroyed the city, and the empire along with it. But what had become of all the keepers of the stones? No one knows. There are rumors about them throwing the stones in the sea before committing suicide, some about them going into hiding, breeding and raising their children to guard the stone.
Now it is 2012, the year the Mayans predicted the world would end. Many fanatics are scaring people into submission. The world economy has collapsed. Government has been corrupted. Militaries are ruthless and will kill civilians without a second thought. It is time for the keepers of the stone to emerge and save the world from an Apocalypse only it created.
You are either one of the keepers, or a part of the corrupted government. The keepers will have a stone to guard, and each will have special powers you can use. The people in the government will have armies and all modern technology at their disposal (to an extent). There is one position for world dictator, but he already has a name. He is Remus Romulus Silvanus, the direct descendant of Manius.
Each keeper of each stone is eligible to be a leader. Each stone corresponds to a certain month. The leader role is rotated every month based on what stone you have. See Stones section for stone/month correspondences.
Rules:
-No excessive swearing. People, let's be mature (Not like that...)
-No Mary-Sues. At all. You will be given one warning about Mary-Sueing, then it's bye bye for your character
-No godmodding
-If you are about to start a series of reactions that end up changing the story a lot, please ask me if it's okay before doing so

Garnet- Allows for guidance. Can show someone how to do something or show them through a maze (January)
Amethyst- Allows for soberness. Can detoxify someone and has a calming effect on the people around it (February)
Aquamarine- Allows for friendships. Can make people friendlier and helps ships out to sea (March)
Diamond- Allows for strength. Can increase someone's strength up to threefold at one time (April)
Emerald- Allows for premonitions. Can show events in the future and increase eyesight (May)
Pearl- Allows for humbleness. Can decrease power of other stones in it's vicinity and make a person more obedient (June)
Ruby- Allows for protection. Can show the wearer danger and pales in the presence of poison (July)
Peridot- Allows for intensification. Can intensify powers of stones in it's vicinity and boost someone's confidence (August)
Sapphire- Allows for true sight. Can show someone evil or impure people or places by dimming (September)
Opal- Allows for undetection. Can make someone invisible and allows someone to see through illusions (October)
Topaz- Allows for coolness. Can cool temperatures in vicinity and allows the wearer to be resistant to cold (November)
Turquoise- Allows for luck. Can increase good events in someone's life and decrease bad (December)
Reservation Policy: I will reserve anyone who asks for a reservation for a week, unless said person asks for an extension due to a conflict.
