The entire battlefield at first seems to be your regular, crystal-clear lake; though quite deep in the centre, one can see right to the bottom. The dirt seems, mostly, inclined to remain at the bottom unless someone intentionally stirs it up, and even then it will quickly settle when left to its own devices. As sunlight reaches to the bottom, plants have no problem growing in patches underneath the surface, although the environment might not be entirely appropriate for the seaweed that grows there. Indeed, the lake seems like a normal one, if perhaps purified by Suicune on a regular basis. That is, until you take a closer look and wonder - are those boulders... floating?

As it turns out, the surface of the lake is very solid. Pokémon, no matter how heavy, can easily walk on its surface, and the surface (but only the surface) even shakes with the effect of an earthquake when the appropriate attacks are used. It is this surface that the boulders must be resting on. It would also seem to explain the smooth surface of the lake, although the surface you walk on isn't the lake's actual surface; instead, it appears to be about two inches underwater.

However, pokémon inclined to swimming may do so, and the lake will seem like normal, though insanely pure, water to them. Anyone can easily switch between "lake" and "ground", though how it works is unknown. A swimmer, for example, can put its hands on the surface of the water and push down, to help pull it onto the surface, and from then on it can walk or run. If it wants to swim again, it can leap or slip or dive into the water as it pleases. Pokémon will not automatically float to the surface and suddenly find something underneath them, however, nor will the invisible surface suddenly disappear should they wish to go underwater. It requires actual movement to do this, although it doesn't take a full action unless the pokémon is low (under 20%) on either energy or health. Startled, flinching, sleeping, or fully confused pokemon can find themselves falling into the water if they move while in this state, so pokemon can be pulled into the water.

Any impurities above the two-inch-deep surface of the water will remain there, but any others will sink to the bottom very quickly, to be absorbed by the tall, purple, seaweed-like plants.

The lake appears to be surrounded by beautiful beaches of multicoloured sand, and beyond that, lush green grasses that eventually lead to a forest on one side, and a distant village on hills on the other.

(Kusari, who did you mean by my 'main options'?)

I'll send out:

[Aktzin]Chinchou(M)
Ability: Volt Absorb

Okay Aktzin, start off with Ice Beam. Then use Confuse Ray to confuse her. Finish off with a Mist to cover the area around you, and go underwater afterward.

Ice Beam ~ Confuse Ray ~ Mist (Go underwater)

Your waters, of course. Sandy and Chiot might be able to walk on the lake with no fear, but you wouldn't actually send them out, would you?

And excellent! I'd hoped you'd send your chinchou out first.

We're faster, Ouro, so create a medium-sized substitute (15%) to take the Ice Beam and Confuse Ray, barring crits. If he does score a crit and destroys your sub, make another one for 10% to absorb the Confuse Ray. Otherwise, Dragon Pulse.

Third action, if you attack before the mist is generated, Dragon Pulse him from the surface of the water. Go underwater after attacking. Otherwise, slip underwater and let him come underwater too before blasting him with another Dragon Pulse - a mist will hardly protect him there.

Both Pokémon are released with bright flashes of light, landing gently onto the crystalline lake. Ouroboros stretches, glancing beneath her with curiosity: what a strange arena… Equally transfixed, Aktzin’s antennae twitch as the chinchou struggles to maintain his balance atop the lake.

Apparently satisfied that she isn’t going to fall into the water at any moment, Ouroboros turns her attention to the battle. She dips her tail into the lake, picking up droplets of water and lifting them up above her; they fall onto the surface, spreading out in front of her. She lowers her head and blows onto the droplets and they begin to grow rapidly, spreading out across the surface beside Ouroboros and solidifying together. Finally they – it – stops growing, when it appears to be the same exact size as Ouroboros herself, and quickly shapes itself into her image. Within seconds, a twin dragonair lies beside her, ready to protect her at any cost.

Aktzin blinks at this display, unimpressed. Sure it was fancy, but he could do just the same if he wanted to. Instead his antennae move together and grow icy-cold, sucking the moisture from around him and freezing it. He grins as he releases an ice-cold beam at the dragonair, fully expecting one to protect the other; and indeed, the substitute curls in front of Ouroboros, taking the hit head-on. The ice spreads across the dummy dragonair’s face, sheet-thin but powerful; the substitute shakes its head, breaking the layer of ice off, but it has little strength left.

Ouroboros doesn’t seem very perturbed by this fact; she glances at the substitute once before focusing on the chincou. Bright green, fiery energy spreads across her body, and she releases it in a blast towards the chinchou, bouncing him several feet backwards. He steadies himself, blinking in shock at the attack.

He still felt rather good, though, definitely up for a good fight. His twin antennae glowed bright – though it was a bit harder than usual to see in the sunlight – and easily caught Ouroboros’s attention. Unfortunately, it lacked the desired effect; her substitute shoved Ouroboros aside, blocking her line of sight and preventing her from even glancing at the chinchou. Annoyed, Aktzin allowed his antennae to revert to their normal brightness, wishing a horrible death on the substitute.

Perplexed by her substitute’s behaviour, Ouroboros gather more draconic energy, releasing it towards the chinchou. The green-tinted fire smacked into his small body, leaving nasty burn marks where they hit. Aktzin scowled in annoyance; he shouldn’t be hanging out above water, anyway.

That’ll be fixed soon, though. He closes his eyes and summons a deep mist, beckoning out to the clouds. Oddly enough, the mist obeys him, closing in on the battling Pokémon and the arena. Aktzin opens his eyes to find that he can hardly see Ouroboros anymore – only her orbs are somewhat visible. Satisfied, he dives under the surface, deeply relieved as the cool water relieves his burns.

Well technically I told you to go underwater after attacking, but it hardly makes a difference now. Just slip underwater and Swagger, unless he uses Protect/Detect or blocks it some other way, in which case Agility. Follow up with Dragon Pulse twice. If he uses Protect/Detect/other guaranteed-block, Dragon Dance, and if your substitute is broken, make another for 15% health.

Swagger / Agility ~ Dragon Pulse / Dragon Dance / Substitute 15% ~ Dragon Pulse / Dragon Dance / Substitute 15%

If he goes up to the surface, remain underwater and attack from there, blasting him from below. That way your accuracy won't be affected by the mist. I, uh, forgot to clarify that the surface never affects any attack coming from below (though I didn't need to say surface any more in that description), though it should probably be fairly obvious - if not, though, still benefits us since it should just shake the surface and cause something like an earthquake, right.

Okay Aktzin, start off by using Protect. Next use whirlpool to inflict a bit of damage. Then use Hidden Power.

Nodding gently at her commands, Ouroboros dips her head under the surface, pushing further until she slips in. She swims calmly, waiting for her substitute to join her – which it soon does, dropping into the water with a quiet splash. The two dragonair swim in place, watching their opponent.

Aktzin blinks his large eyes, preparing himself. A semi-transparent barrier forms around him, rippling in the water. Though it doesn’t seem to be protecting him from anything, it doesn’t require much upkeep, so Aktzin simply watches his opponent from inside the Protect shield.

Satisfied, Ouroboros kicks her tail into action, swimming around the chinchou at alarming speeds. She twists and bends, her long body showing incredible maneuverability; she reaches such speeds that Aktzin finds it hard to keep track of her. Eventually she slows down, stopping just beside her waiting substitute and turning to face the dizzied chinchou with pride.

But she isn’t done yet. Just as Aktzin loses control over his Protect shield, she glows the same fiery green as before; despite being underwater, the energy is unhindered, not being actual fire. With a malicious glint in her eye, she launches the dragon pulse forwards; it hits Aktzin as it had before, scorching him just as badly as it had above water, if not worse. The chinchou winces in pain – it does, really, seem to be worse this time. Perhaps it hit a weak spot? Or was it this bad before?

Aktzin whimpers slightly, flapping his tiny fins to stay in place – and to coax the water to do his bidding. Despite the lake’s resolute calmness, it comes to life, flowing in waves around the dragonair’s substitute and clutching at her. The dummy seems ignorant of the water’s tug; she wasn’t moving anyhow, and it doesn’t hurt her much, if at all.

Ouroboros ignores the state of her substitute, instead recharging her draconic energy and releasing it at the chinchou. Aktzin is relieved to find it hurting less than it did last time, though it’s far from painless. He’s becoming quite scorched at this point, something no water-type would enjoy.

Rubbing his burnt sides in pain, Aktzin begins to glow white, forming bright shining orbs around him. The orbs are small but plentiful; the surround the chinchou, awaiting his command. And he gives it, twitching an antennae forwards, sending all of the orbs charging at the dragonair substitute. Being trapped in the whirlpool, it has no chance of escaping as the multitude of bright orbs smack into its body; it takes only a few moments before the dummy breaks, liquefying back into the whirlpool that was attacking it. Ouroboros glances at her dying substitute; it’s no big deal, really, though she would have preferred it lasting a while longer. She’ll just make another.

Ouroboros’s eyes glint with satisfaction. Clearly the battle is going her way, and both Pokémon know it. Despite this, she explains to the chinchou how she’s the better battler, winking at him and showing off her precious orbs – completely unharmed from the battle, of course. She swims around him with dexterous speed, moving away just as he gets so enraged he can’t stop himself from lashing out. But of course he misses – the damned dragonair is too fast for him.

Aktzin hisses, his mind burning with rage. How dare a lousy dragon mock him like that? Just because he isn’t doing so great so far, doesn’t mean she can act so… so… cocky! His eyes twitch in anger, but he manages to control himself. The best way to get revenge would be an attack, and he knows just which one to use.

Calling forth the icy energy he holds within him, the water around both Pokémon begins to grow numbingly cold. Ouroboros shivers, but her orders of dodging are rather useless, since the water rushing towards her before she can go anywhere. Though unfrozen, the lake certainly feels icy; perhaps it isn’t as powerful as it would have been on the surface of the lake, but Ouroboros finds little comfort in this.

She is comforted, however, when the wave blows right past her. It seems as if Aktzin had little control over it, and was unable to direct it accurately; Ouroboros sighs with relief as the lake rapidly warms up.

She warms herself even further when she powers up another dragon pulse, surrounding herself with fiery energy. The attack hits Aktzin as always, leaving another nasty scorch mark on his already charred body; the chinchou hisses in pain and anger, glaring at Ouroboros. Despite his pain, his rage keeps him motivated.

Ouroboros shivers as the lake begins to cool again. Aktzin grins menacingly (or as menacingly as a blue-and-yellow fish can), sending forth another wave of viciously cold water. Unfortunately for the dragonair, this one hits its mark, knocking into her and sucking the breath out of her. It’s even more powerful than she’d expected, and she’s shoved deep into the lake by its force, unable to fight back. She soon regains enough energy to pull through, swimming out of the current and looking back at it as it splashes onto the surface and dies down. She sighs and shivers, turning to look at Aktzin. Perhaps she shouldn’t have angered him.

No time for regrets now. As before, she fired off another dragon pulse, bringing Aktzin ever closer to his breaking point. The chinchou was finding it difficult to maintain himself in the water despite its calmness; he flapped his fins, glaring weakly at Ouroboros, clearly unhappy.

But there was nothing he could do. His anger had finally take its hold on him; his mind wasn’t working properly. He saw multiple Ouroboros swimming before him, all mocking him, and the water around him changed hues from blue to orange and back again. He screamed in anger and dashed towards one of the infuriation dragonair, phasing through it. After hitting that one, he continued on to the next one, and the next, finally tiring after hitting four of them. Ouroboros watched, clearly amused; even if he focused on the actual dragonair, she could easily dodge such an unfocused attack. He was just wasting his time.

Ouroboros watches Aktzin for a moment, waiting to see what he does. The chinchou seems to be doing something, alright, but it definitely isn’t protect – he’s swimming around in circles, letting out an occasional scream, but definitely not protecting. The poor chinchou seems too hopelessly confused to do much of anything, really.

Satisfied with this, Ouroboros charges up another dragon pulse, aiming at the moving Aktzin carefully. She waits only moments before releasing the attack, and again it hits, stunning Aktzin out of his confused state for the moment. The turns to stare warily at Ouroboros; he barely has the strength to do even that. Both Pokémon know it will soon be over.

Unfortunately for Aktzin, his vision blurs once again, preventing him from using this one last opportunity to attack. He screams in anger and charges at what he thinks is Ouroboros, fading right through her and continuing onwards; he continues to attack figments of his imagination, his rage keeping him going.

Ouroboros watches in amusement as she charges what she hopes will be the last dragon pulse for this battle. She’s really growing tired of them. She waits for Aktzin to slow down before unleashing the attack; fiery energy rushes forward onto the chinchou, burning his weak body until it can’t fight any longer. His wide eyes close as he floats to the surface of the lake as if dead; Ouroboros watches with pride, only now realizing just how tired she is.

Okay, well done Aktzin, you wore her down!

Now I'll send out:
[Tadpole] Poliwag (F)
Ability: Water Absorb
Held Item: King's Rock

Attacks:

Okay Tadpole, start off by using Belly Drum, to up your attack power. Then, if she uses a Dragon-Type attack, Mimic it, and then use it as long as you can. Otherwise, use Hypnosis. Finish up with Waterfall. If you get Paralyzed, Burned or Poisoned, use Facade. Remember, if you Mimic a Dragon-Type attack, just attack with that for the rest of the round.

Belly Drum ~ Mimic(Dragon-Type attack)/Hypnosis/Facade ~ Mimic(Dragon-Type attack)/Waterfall/Facade

Since it wasn't otherwise specified, she'll probably be sent out on top of the water. If so, this is how the round shall go:

Chill, first of all. We want to get it in uninterrupted, so during belly drum is a good time. If you fall asleep, continue chilling throughout the round, but that shouldn't be necessary.

Because of the way her orders are stated, she'll probably be waiting to see if you'll be using a dragon-type move. So, after returning to the surface, do so. Use a Dragon Rage to waste that mimic and two of her actions. The draconic fire one, preferably, despite there being liquid around you. Not only will it pretty much guarantee she can't absorb it for whatever reason, but it's probably less distracting than the swirly-water one, and she should be forced to use it.

Tempting though it may be to begin our assault, we'll just make her belly drum useless with a Haze - but make sure you're mostly immersed in the water before using it, with just your mouth above the water to spew it out. This way you don't lose your attack drop, since haze shouldn't go under the water. Pull yourself fully under the water immediately after using Haze.

Chill ~ Dragon Rage / Chill ~ Haze / Chill

If for some reason she wasn't sent out on top of the water, remain underwater rather than swimming to the top. Just chill while she hurts herself, followed by a draconic-fire Dragon Rage for the same reason as before. Again, if you fall asleep, just keep chilling.

However this time you won't be refraining from attacking her in the name of strategy or anything foolish like that - fry her with Thunderbolt. If you happen to faint, your replacement will hardly fear physical assaults - and really, you don't have to, either.

Chill ~ Dragon Rage / Chill ~ Thunderbolt / Chill

And if there's any doubt about having too many commands to remember, the final command summary comes to this:

Chill ~ Dragon Rage / Chill ~ Haze / Thunderbolt / Chill

Arena: Jesus Lake

Ouroboros only glances at the new Pokémon that’s released above the water, not interested in her opponent for now. Though she can see what it is – the water is so clear that she would be able to see a Pokémon miles away – it isn’t enough to hold her interest, not when she’s so tired and given the chance to rest. Instead she closes her eyes and sighs, releasing a few bubbles into the otherwise calm water.

Tadpole kicks the surface with her foot, testing it out and finding it to be incredibly fascinating. Despite this, she knows she has work to do, and turns her attention to something else. Her expression becomes focused, determined, her tail whipping around to slap her big stomach with a smack once, twice, three times until a large red welt appears on her stomach-swirl. Though it clearly hurts – proven by her wincing even when she stops hitting herself – she now bares a more serious expression, staring down at Ouroboros with a calm determination.

Noticing that she’s being paid attention to, Ouroboros opens her eyes and gently slips above the surface. She glances around; it’s a bit different than before, a little hazy, but the clouds are so thin they’re hardly noticeable, so she ignores them and turns to face Tadpole. She charges more draconic energy, but keeps it inside her this time, bringing it forth more like a fire attack than even the dragon pulse she’d been using so often – spitting it out like a flamethrower. Tadpole reacts immediately, reading every movement her opponent makes even as the fiery attack engulfs her gentle body; she notices the way Ouroboros had created the attack and released it and knows exactly how to recreate it.

So when the fire dies down, Tadpole is eager to test her mimicry skills out. She opens her little mouth and spits out a burst of green flames, not as strong as Ouroboros’s but still quite impressive. The fire seems impervious to the lake and it surrounds Ouroboros, causing her to wince despite herself; it isn’t very strong, but it’s not exactly pleasant either.

Ouroboros quickly shakes the attack off, eager to get this over with and get back under water. She calls forth a different power now; it takes more concentration for her to focus the attack despite how simple it is, but when she does, she emits the haze from wherever her mouth is quite proudly. It spreads quickly, filling the arena with thick, moist clouds – and ridding Tadpole of the stat-boosts she worked so hard to achieve. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do the same for Ouroboros, who ducked underwater the moment she finished her attack.

Luckily, despite the haze, Tadpole can still see through the water quite clearly, so she knows just where Ouroboros is. She grins as she spits out another dragonrage, catching the dragonair by surprise. Ouroboros turns to face her attacker in annoyance; the attack is so weak that she’s more startled than anything. Tadpole grins, pleased to have annoyed the Pokémon who had annoyed her.

Notes
- Since it wasn’t specified, Tadpole was released on the surface of the lake.
- Tadpole uses more energy than normal when using dragon rage since it’s mimic’d.
- Kusari attacks first.

Excellent.

Chill if at any point you can't follow your orders or if you can but it's guaranteed to fail to achieve the desired effect. Most likely problems where you have to chill are sleep and Protect.

Our main attack is obviously Thunderbolt and rather unfortunately for the sake of everyone involved we'll be abusing it. Substitute first, though - 15% as usual. It is then that the electricity abuse shall begin. If she uses double team, Shock Wave to get rid of it in place of thunderbolt.

Do this all from underwater, of course - you won't be touching that haze if you can help it!

Substitute / Chill ~ Thunderbolt / Shock Wave / Chill ~ Thunderbolt / Shock Wave / Chill

Okay, duck underwater, and use Mind Reader. Next use Hypnosis. Follow up by using Defense Curl, if, for some reason, she is awake, and a close range Ice Beam, is she is asleep.

Knows dragon rage.

Ouroboros twirls her tail slowly, creating bubbles in the water as it picks up speed. Her head turns to face her tail and she spots one bubble in particular, grabbing it with her eyes; the bubble pulls apart from the rest, floating in front of Ouroboros’s horn. She pulls the top of the bubble upward, stretching it into a long, linear shape; it grows even without her coaxing, filling out and becoming lifelike before her eyes. With a simple touch from her horn, it sparks to like, swimming beside her until it dies protecting her.

Tadpole dips her foot underwater, testing it, before diving in completely. She swims remarkably fast for such a limbless thing, flying circles around the calmer dragonair. Soon she calms down as well, floating in place with her huge tailfin on overdrive and staring at the two dragonair rather disarmingly. Though as always, Ouroboros remains calm and collected, perhaps a bit amused at the poliwag’s show of immaturity. What she doesn’t know is that Tadpole has now locked onto her location, no matter where she moves or what she does – there’s no escaping.

But what she doesn’t know can’t hurt her, right? Ouroboros orbs turn a bright yellow as she sparks, bursting into strings of snaking light. The lightning runs across from her to Tadpole, latching on and exploding in an array of lights; the poliwag shrieks in pain, writhing as the water feeds the electricity even more. Both Pokémon realize it’s hit a weak spot, and even Ouroboros feels slightly glad as the thunderbolt runs out – she feels a bit bad for picking on such a little Pokémon.

Tadpole shakes herself, trying to get back into shape before her attack. She still has Ouroboros on target, though it’s mixed up with another one – the substitute. She can hit the real one, she knows what it is, she just knows that the substitute will block it. So what’s the point? She sighs and stares at Ouroboros, deep psychic energy flowing between the two Pokémon, but as expected the substitute quickly gets in the way. Tadpole continues with the attack but it clearly has no effect – the substitute stares back unhindered.

Ouroboros glows bright again, recalling the electricity from before; it comes willingly, eager, snaking across her snakelike body and arching towards Tadpole with frenzied excitement. Though it isn’t as strong as before, the thunderbolt does quite enough damage – it leaves her struggling to move. She twitches, kicking her tail into motion and thankful that she can at least move now; but she’s worried about later.

Tadpole sighs before curling herself up into a ball, wrapping her overlarge tail around herself and falling slowly to the lake’s bottom. She wishes desperately that Ouroboros had fallen asleep, but… what can you do.
