Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Lucas vs. Whirlpool

That did not quite go as planned. Nevertheless, I'm confident that we can KO them. Reversal once to break that sub, then Last Resort twice!

Reversal ~ Last Resort ~ Last Resort

Funny story. By Altered Origin's calculator (which I'm pretty sure Lord of the Fireflies uses, looking at his totals), you'll energyfaint with that last Last Resort.

So, why bother?

Round V Start

Lillipup stares angrily at her sleeping opponent. Even if asleep, she knows she doesn’t have enough energy left to take her down, especially with her dumb puppet in front of her. What she can do, though, is leave the field with a bang. She concentrates, the hurls her herself to the dummy – she knows it will get in the way, so why bother – and powerfully crashes into it, making explode with force, propelling mud all over the place. Mink, meanwhile, keeps sleeping as if it was the most natural thing to do in those kinds of situations.

The terrier dog now has nothing between herself and her opponent, and knows it. She gathers all the determination she can, and runs to Mink. At the last moment, she jumps, then lands heavily on her sleeping target. She doesn’t stop there, though. She continues kicking and biting and tackling the poor Mink until herself falls on the ground, panting. The Minccino had instinctly curled up in a ball, but had not wakened up.

Lillipup is not far from falling into unconsciousness; however she bravely gets up, and, for a final time, rushes to Mink with all her might. It is a direct hit, and Mink is sent rolling. Lillipup, carried on by her momentum, follows her. They finally stop, and the wind blows away the cloud of dust they are hidden in, revealing their little bruised bodies, tight against each other in a last hug.

Mink slowly wakes up, and realizing she had won, gets up on her shaky legs. She difficultly picks up Lillipup’s floppy body, and carries it over to Lucas. The trainer smiles and takes over, lifting up the small creature. Mink smiles in return, then joyously frolics back to her own trainer.

- Mink’s paralysis lightened at the end of the round, leaving her with an actual base speed of 56.

Uh, Sing and then Tail Slap + Wake-Up Slap. I'm pretty sure the combo will work, but if the Tirtouga Protects the first action, use Sunny Day and just continue.

Sing/Sunny Day ~ Tail Slap + Wake-Up Slap

Even though Sing is pretty much a crapshoot of hitting or not, we still need to Protect against it - We can't really take a wake-up slap-boosted, skill linked tail slap. Secondly, mitigate that Sunny Day with Rain Dance. Finally, take advantage of that boost with Brine.

Pre-Round

With pure might and without hesitation, Lucas powerfully throws his next Poké Ball into the stream in the middle of the plain. With a small “plop”, it sinks deep in it, and for several seconds, nothing happens. The referee gazes suspiciously at Lucas, who just stays there in his throwing position. But before Lord of the Fireflies has the time to ask what is actually happening, the water illuminates and an ancient sea turtle comes out slowly, stretching her muscles in preparation of the upcoming revenge.

Round VI Start

Mink takes a huge breath, as if she was about to sing a soothing melody, however as soon as Tirtouga summons the infamous green shield of energy, she changes her strategy and begins to chant to the skies instead. The deep and echoing sound reverberates through the entire area, and suddenly, the clouds disappear and the sun begins the shine brighter than ever before. Tirtouga tries to hold on, but soon she is unable to maintain the energy shield and it evaporates in mid-air, leaving her exposed to the dehydrating rays.

The Minccino cheerfully peeps. Her little body, even if severely wounded, still packs quite a punch from the Work Ups she did before, and she knows she has to abuse it before leaving the field. Now she can’t just slap her target; she has to hit it. Overcoming her light paralysis, she runs to the sea turtle, jumping over the little stream to land on her back. The Tirtouga fearfully hides in her thick shell, and Mink starts to batter the natural protector repetitively. Five times, she slams her tail powerfully on the turtle’s back, before jumping back to land, exhausted.

Tirtouga slowly comes out of her shell, dizzy from the attack. Without taking the time to restore, though, she starts giggling and swimming in circles in a frenetic dance, accompanying her performance with a low chant. Soon, gray clouds cover the entire sky, and a downpour hits the field in a split second. She then enchains with a final attack, gathering water around her in a small whirlpool. She does not stop there, though, and summons a large volume of salt from the bottom of the stream and the oceanic air around her, adding it to the mix. Finally, the salty water explodes in a geyser and crashes down to the already tired Mink, drenching her open wounds in the painfully salty cataract. Mink squeaks in pain as the combined effect of the salt and the poison makes her shiver dreadfully.

Protect – 4% energy
Sunny Day – 6% energy
Wake-Up Tail Slap – 19% damage, 13% energy
Rain Dance – 6% energy
Brine – 20% damage, 9% energy

Notes:

- Funny story. I calculated Wake-Up Tail Slap this way. First, I divided Wake-Up Slap’s power in 5 because it would be equally distributed throughout the five hits, then add it to Tail Slap’s base power, giving it a final 37, which, rounded down, gives a base damage of 3%. Since I calculated it as a fighting-type attack, it receives no boost from STAB or Moon Stone. Tirtouga’s ability only multiplies the damage by 1.3 instead of 1.5 if super-effective, so the damage was 3.9%, which rounded down also give 3% damage! So in the end, it hit five times (no critical hit, again) then I added 4% in damage because of the attack boosts.

- There is a second small hole in the ground from Mink’s substitute.

Round VII Start

Tirtouga, although angry she couldn’t take Mink down with a single attack, knows it would be easier this time, seeing how pitifully weak the rodent was getting. Without waiting for any reaction from her opponent, she hides all her limbs in her stiff shell, and from the holes suddenly comes out a torrent of water, propelling her to Mink. The Minccino, meanwhile, had set up a blueish aura that now surrounds her, and when Tirtouga finally reaches her target, the impact is seemingly cushioned and Mink still standing, weaker then ever.

The Minccino once again tries to set up the aura that previously saved her life, however this time… it doesn’t work. Even if she tries with all her possible might, the protective shield won’t appear. She whines, and gives a lazy look at the vague direction of her foe… only to be met by a watery bomb. The hit sends Mink rolling several meters farther, and as she connects with the ground in a low “thud”, she is already unaware of what is happening.

The red beam envelops Mink as Whirlpool returns her to her Poké Ball, already thinking about what is to do next.

Hey, Endure changed in Gen V so it still has a flat 50% chance after the first turn. :/

But the entire point of that was to make her waste ~6% energy, so it's okay. Uh, I don't think I've ever sent out Whirr before, so you're up.

Shift Gear (x2) for some actual speed (and attack) and then Gear Grind (i'm totally not obsessed with multi-hit moves). If she makes herself unhittable (Protect, Dive, Sub, etc.) on the Gear Grind, Shift Gear again. Oh, and if she uses Shell Smash, use Shift Gear once (unless you already did) and Gear Grind until the end of the round.

Pre-Round

After several minutes or pensive grunting and grumbling, Whirlpool finally chooses his next soldier. With overly exaggerated moves, he throws his Heavy Ball (Why a heavy ball? Nobody knows) in the middle of the field, just in front of the lazy stream where Tirtouga is playfully bathing. Out comes a weird sight. Two Pokémons, two gearwheels that look stuck to each other by some strong magnetic force. As soon as the Klink realizes it had been sent out, it starts rotating frenetically, gathering the energy necessary for it to (hopefully) win that fight.

Round VIII Start

As soon as the referee waves his flag (what else does the referee actually have to do besides waving his flag? I mean, do they really need a formation to do that?), Whirr begins to grind its gear together at very high speed, so fast actually that its faces disappear in the mass of spinning metal. After that, erm… exercise, the teeth of Whirr’s gears are noticeably sharper, and the Klink itself seems more agitated and twitchy than before. Tirtouga, noticing her enemy is considerably more dangerous, decides to act defensively, because, you know, defense is the best offense! (Or something like that). She concentrates, and in a matter of seconds, her already stiff shell grow more compact as tiny iron particles gather to protect the invisible pores in it, not only giving Tirtouga’s armor an additional protection but also an incredibly cool shiny aspect.

Unaware of its opponent’s new bulkiness, Whirr keeps on rotating and grinding like a madgear, further raising its sharpness. Tirtouga herself, mimicking her foe’s blind concentration once again fills the pore of her shell with iron. The result is shinier than ever before, but the sea turtle grows afraid the additional weight could sink her (D:).

Finally, Whirr decides it is the time to attack. Its new powered up body should be able to pierce through that shabby shell, shouldn’t it? It propels itself to Tirtouga, and traps the edge of her shell inside its two cog-wheels. Before the reptile has the chance to struggle, it starts spinning furiously biting through the stiff armor. When it stops, however, it notices that instead of breaking through it, the shell had blunted its magnificent silvery teeth! Whirr whirrs in rage, and as her sole reaction, Tirtouga once again dances clumsily in the water, regenerating the heavy downpour that had started to weaken.

Round IX Start

Soon, Whirr realizes that it has to adapt its fighting style to its opponent, or else it would never be able to break through that armor. Physical attacks won’t do, but unfortunately for its opponent, it has many special tricks up its sleeve. Whirr begins to rasp its gear against each other jerkily, producing a skin-creeping shrieking sound. The battlers and the referee instinctively put their hands on their ears, trying to protect themselves from the attack; however Tirtouga, constrained by her large shell, can’t afford that luxury. Although the sound isn’t exactly damaging, it leaves Tirtouga with a very uneasy mental state and a shivering body. The sea turtle, however, is far from being knocked out, and she retaliates by spraying a large jet of boiling water on Whirr. The water makes a furious “pssshhhh!” sound upon contact with the Klink’s cold body, and the gear Pokémon is left with an uneasy clammy sensation, however its body resists to the possible permanent effect of the attack.

Suddenly, as if some wires connected in Whirr’s processors (or something, I don’t know shit about computers), it decides to go on the offensive. He begins to charge electricity, grinding more rapidly as it gathers it, then releases a large shockwave that soon bathes the arena. Tirtouga is swamped by the attack, and multiple electric currents pass through her vulnerable body, leaving her weak and twitching but otherwise fine. Once again, she sprays a powerful jet of hot water at the Klink. This time, however, the steaming water penetrates the gear Pokémon’s wires, and causes some of them a short circuit. Many sparkles explode all over Whirr’s body, and soon it is covered with visibly painful dark marks.

The Klink is far from being knocked out, though, and again it releases an aura of electricity in all directions, striking Tirtouga and zapping her unprotected flesh, but once again failing to damage her nervous system. After several seconds of restoration under the surface of the stream, the prototurtle Pokémon sprouts out of the water like a geyser, then crashes on the ground with all her possible might, creating a shockwave that rushes to Whirr. First, the attack didn’t affect him due to its electromagnetism keeping it afloat, and it kept on going this way because Klink is apparently immune to Earthquake.

Hey guys, I forgot that Tirtouga had solid rock, so the damage from the discharges is not right. I will edit, then if whirlpool wants to reorder i'll let him do.

EDIT: ok done, actually the damage is only lowered by 1% per discharge, so Whirlpool I guess you'll want to keep your commands as they are.
