• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Marquee tags?

They're somewhat distracting for me. When I see one I have a tendency to sit there and watch the entire thing, even if what it's saying isn't particularly interesting.

When I'm pressed for space in my signature, for example, I put the text in marquee tags.

Also, I used to have this awesome signature where I made little sprites of cars and used the marquee tag to make them look like they're moving. I can see why people don't like them, though.

Why in the world was this revived with a discussion about the Marquee of Doom? This thread is about the possibility of marquee BBCodes to save space in signatures; Ryubane mentioned the Marquee of Doom as an off-hand joke about why marquees are annoying, what with that being its stated purpose. There is no need for people to come to its defense (for the record, at least half of the people who e-mail me about the marquee also thought it was entertaining, so no, you're not alone) or start discussing whether or not it truly is a marquee.
