• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Open Metal Wing: Liquid (1 spot left!)

John was dissapointed with the response. To him, a team to work with was a valuable thing. Still, he persevered with his arguments, although he wasn't sure if it would be worth having someone like this on such a team.

"You don't need to trust us fully, at least not yet. But whether you like it or not, we will have to do what our 'captors' want us to. Therefore it makes sense that we stay together and watch each other. We all have our weaknesses, but does it make sense to push away those who could cover those weaknesses? And would you rather be attecked from behind, or do you think it would make more sense to heve someone to watch your back?"

Kailani was not in a good mood at all.

Then again, he had reason to. He'd awoken to find himself imprisoned in who knew where, along with five people who he'd never met in his life. Then he was told that he would have to work with these strange beings.

Not to mention, he thought, that they could be considered potential threats.

Still, he would not submit to these strangers. He could accomplish what he needed without getting help from others.

They should expect me not to help them, he thought, And that gives them perfect reason not to help me.

Alex bit his lip harder this time. Why the hell did they pick him to lead? Already it started up arguments and confusion.

"Uh, please, there's no need to argue. If that's his choice, then let it be. We're not ones to say..." He wasn't sure if it was a leader-like thing to say, but hopefully it would calm everyone down somehow.

Kailani heard Alex's comment. "Good," he said, "I'm glad that you accept my choosing to work alone. Now All I have is one more question: When do we start patroling this 'city'?"

And it had better be soon, he thought. I grow weary of all this talking.

John new going furthur was pointless; he had explained his case and if this guy wouldn't accept it now furthur words would do no more good. Besides which, too much and the authority of the leader would be undermined. He resigned himself to the fact that here was a person who may not accept the group. He would just hope that the others weren't the same as this one, otherwise whatever they were expected to do would probably fail.

He did have a point about covering more ground, but we can cover a lot of ground in one or two groups, and we'd also cover each other. Still, no point dwelling on what can't be changed.

He turned to alex.

"Well, you're the leader, so you decide what happens next."

Great. Alex looked around at the others, and then at the room. "Uh, intercom guy? Where are we supposed to go?"

There wasn't any answer. A test? Error in vocabulary to express feelings? What? Now his own thought were confusing him.

"I think this is a test," he announced to the others. "We have to find the way out on our own." He looked around more carefully, not sure what to do. Command them around? Wait for them to do something. "Try searching the walls, and, uh, I'll check out the computers."

Following along with what he said, Alex moved to the two wall that were lined with computers.

John scanned around, and, seeing no obvious door, set off to examine the wall opposite where he had been chained.

There has to be a door here somewhere, and it has to be fairly large, because they got us in here unconsious. Oh...ha, now that guy has to help. We have a common goal, so there's no point in him searching the same areas as others have, by his own ideas.

He methodically scanned every inch of the wall, looking for a crack or anything that would indicate a door.

Byron was amused with everyone searching for a way out. He made himself visible, and began to search among the other five.
He never found anything remarkable, just chains hanging on the walls.
"Hey, Alex," he spoke. "You have wings, right? Can you fly to the ceiling?"

Alex was startled for a moment when Byron turned visible. After hearing what he said, he looked up at the roof. "Uh, I'll try. Thanks." He spread his wings out to a full span of sixteen feet and bent down low to the ground. His legs lunged him into the air, and his wings started to flap. It came naturally to him to hover in the air just below the ceiling. There, his vision saw a small button, so small it would have been invisible to the people on the floor. Cautiously, he hovered near the button and pressed it. An intercom turned on.

"Well, looks like you passed your test," said a voice, different from the man before. "Kudos for listing to your team for suggestions. In a moment, the north wall will open for you. Fly out, and once you set up a camp in the forest, we'll contact you again."

As promised, one of the walls started to shift down, until it fully revealed the sky, and a lush forest.

John continued to search the wall until he heard the voice over the intercom. He turned to see Alex hovering just below the ceiling. The wall behind John suddenly began to decend, revealing a forest.

Haven't seen one of those in a while. Well not a real one.

He turned back to Alex.

"So, boss, we go out, right?"

"Good," Kailani said, "We're out."

He walked to the forest.

"If we cross paths again, I hope it's on better circumstances," he said, with as much sarcasm in his vocie as he could.

Hey, it worked, Byron thought. What to do now?
He leaned against a tree to watch the others converse.
It smells so... good, so... free... out here.
Byron grew frustrated as Kailani began to leave. He didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but he wanted to say something, at least. He decided not to do so, for it would most likely result in a big argument; he also knew that everyone had bigger fish to fry.

John stepped out and took several deep breathes.

This air seems different somehow, less heavy...It's fresh, so we are outdoors.

He listened to Kailani's speech, and watched him walk away.

I just hope that next time we meet the rest of us have better circumstances than you. Maybe then you'll see...but right now we have our own issues.

John looked back at the building they had just left for a moment, then ignored it and turned towards the forest.

Grondaia giggled and moved into the forest as well, transforming into a half-tree. Her skin turned tan like the trunk and her hair turned into long, green leaves, and although no one saw it due to her shoes, her toes had suddenly become rootlike with several little roots coming off them, and she moved a lot slower.

"H-hey. Hold it," Alex said to Kailani, as he flew out of the metal room they had been affixed in. "Until we cross paths again? If you go out there alone, you'll die. We-we- we don't even know what's out here or not. I don't care if you don't want to work with us, but stay if you want to survive."

He landed down in directly where the wall had fallen, and surveyed the forest. "And it doesn't look like there's a place for one person to go alone without a group."

John was half-suprised when Alex attempted to stop Kailani. He had looked at the forest himself and had to agree with alex about the size.

Those people also wanted us to set up camp together, and they probably don't intend for one of us to go off on our own.

He looed around and saw that the girl from earlier now had a darker skin tone and fore some strange reason her hair had turned into leaves. He also saw a kid with brown hair who was observing from the other side of the group.

Byron busted out laughing when Alex talked to Kailani.
"Heh, that's funny," he said. He kept observing the other five.

Minutes later, a chill ran down Byron's back. "Hey, everyone," he spoke with his voice cracking of fear. "There's something headed our way."

Kailani grunted, turning intangible as he did so.

"Fine, I'll come. But don't expect me to save any of your hides, and stay out of my way."

He then heard somethign coming his way. He called shadow energy to his hand. "Finally, some action," he said, grinning.

Alex look above the tree line, jumping up into the sky and flying up. As he did so, a large burst of flame shot forth narrowly missing him and clipping a small part of his wing. Immediately he lunged down, landing rather poorly on the ground.

Flying above them, a large redish orange dragon flew over, hungry for prey. The Charizard roared, spotting the six humans below.

Finally, something...
Byron began reading the Charizard to see its plan of action. He visual projected some buckets of water splashing it to distract the Charizard for a second.
He dashed around the back of the Charizard and kicked its tail. The Charizard became mad, and focused its attention on Byron. Byron started to run circles around the Charizard, jumping at approximately the right time to avoid being burnt to a crisp. Byron quickly grew bored, so he decided to probe Charizard's mind. He did so forcefully, enough to cause a headache.
Charizard quickly learned this game of outpredicting the foe, so he decided to breathe fire slightly ahead of Byron. Again, as Byron was more experienced, he knew when to stop, but he still had a few marks from the flames on his clothing.
Acting quickly, Charizard kicked a rock in Byron's path without thinking about it.
Byron tripped over the rock, and looked up into a pair of vengeful eyes.
