Arena: The Plains Where Nothing Happens

In this arena, nothing really goes on. Peaceful and trapped in time, many have seen this place to be a fairly easy place for a relaxed battle between two friends. Since nothing happens in this plain, all damage to the terrain reverts to its unchanged form at the end of the round. Some would think this arena would be boring in the eyes of more hard-core battlers, but it is a nice change of pace for others.

Plus, it’s a easy Arena for refs looking for cash.

I'm going to use Roy this time. Gotta get this guy evolved at some point~

Roy huh? Well, I think I'll send out Shkan!

[Shkan] Cubone (M) - Rock Head

Let's get things rolling in our favour. Open with Sandstorm to whittle away at his health. Even if he uses Sunny Day, it gives us a free smack at him and won't hurt you as Sandstorm will him. Follow that up with an Earthquake to inflict some nice damage on him. After that move, it'll probably be best to conserve your energy a little. Use Screech so the next bout of attacks hit harder - but if he hits you in that last turn, use Iron Defense to protect yourself from his blows instead.

Sandstorm ~ Earthquake ~ Screech/Iron Defense

Alright hun, that's see what you got.

First action, I want you to use DynamicPunch, hope for the added status effect luv. Second, to deal with that nasty Earthquake, I want you to use Protect. Last action, since they have no plans on doing anything, you shouldn't either. Use Swords Dance on the last action to get you ready for the next round.

You can do this sweetie~ Show your Wife that you can fight in a real battle, least you return in shame to Ming's smirking.

--PREBATTLE--

In this serene and beautiful arena, two friends have gathered for a friendly match. One of the girls takes a Pokeball from her belt and smiles to her opponent, before releasing her Pokemon; a small reptile materialized, his blazing tail wagging happily behind him. Unusually for his species, Roy the Charmander has black scales, though his hands and belly are white.

The other girl smiles and withdraws a Pokeball form her fluffy scarf, sending out a Cubone. The little ground-type adjusted his large skull-helmet and readies his bone, determined to have a good battle.

At a wave of the Ref's flag and yelled orders, the battle begins!

--ROUND ONE BEGIN--

Roy moves first, balling a little fist and making a determined face, his fangs showing as fighting energy gathers around his fist. After a moment, he gives a cry and charges Shkan, who yelps and sidesteps. Roy crashes into the ground face-first at the miss, grumpy and a little dirty. He jumps to his feet quickly.

Shkan doesn't bother to wait for him to stand though, and whumps his bone on the ground twice, channelling the ancient earthly energy that flows through his body, asking the earth Mother for a Sandstorm. She obliges, and loose dirt, small rocks, and all manner of small objects from the ground start to whirl around the field.

Roy coughs and covers his eyes at the whirling mess, watching Shkan carefully for signs of attack. The Cubone takes the Charmander's motionless as a sign that he's open, and slams his bone into the ground much harder than before, which sends out a powerful ripple of seismic activity. Roy manages to toss up hios protective energy bubble just in time, though is thrown around inside at the violent shaking, even if he's protected from damage.

When the Earthquake ends, Roy stumbles to his feet, aggravated and dusty. The rocks and sand that keep whacking him in his handsome face aren't helping his mood at all, and he started to preform an ancient battle dance, spinning and dipping, all the while pumping himself up mentally.

Shkan regards him curiously, wringing his bone in his paws. The fire type is most interesting to him, and looks like a fun foe. He waits until Roy has stopped his dance, and waddles a bit closer. Roy glares nastily at him..until the Cubone opens his mouth and lets out an ear-splitting screech, making the other reptile cover his ears and howl.

When the round ends, Roy is angry and his ears hurt, while Shkan is giggling and quite pleased.

Not the best round there, hm...

Roy! Time to make some deals with the spirits as well. Use Ancient Power to bury the cubone under the rubble. If he stays under the rubble, use Sunny Day. If he comes back out somehow, cough up Toxic on him. Finally, I want you to use Frustration since I'm sure you are quite ticked off by him right now.

Ancient Power ~ Sunny Day/Toxic ~ Frustration

A good start there...

It looks like your slower speed could be useful here Skhan~ After Anicentpower hits, use Dig to free yourself and, since he's looking for you above ground, avoid a nasty spew of Toxic gunk to your face. When you surface, give him a little smack on the arse to wake him up. Lastly, use Detect to protect yourself from that Frustration, cos that will probably hurt given his bad mood.

---ROUND TWO BEGIN---

Roy gives a growl once the round begins, the ringing in his ears still rather painful. Shutting his eyes, he calls upon the spirits of the ancient ones, clasping his claws together as if in prayer, trying his best to ignore the flying sad and pebbles. Soon, many large boulders tear free of the ground, glowing with rainbow colours. Shkan watches warily, bone raised, but doesn't move...he needs to have the attack cover him if this is going to work...

The rocks fly through the air at Roy's direction, burying the little Cubone once the colours fade. Shkan squeals as he is pressed to the ground, but his skull helmet protects him a bit, and he immediately begins his escape, using the bone club as a shovel to burrow under the ground. Once he figures he's underneath where Roy was standing, he waits.

Aboveground, Roy eyes the pile of rocks warily. They don't really move much, which he takes as a sign that he's disabled his foe for now. He shuts his eyes and, ignoring the sandstorm as best he can despite the pain, begins a chant. Almost right away,, the sun starts to get brighter, harsher, warmer. The sandstorm dies down, and Roy feels much more comfortable and a bit less grumpy at the warmth.

Shkan is clueless to this in his burrow, and starts his dig upward. He breaks the surface about a foot behind Roy, and frowns. But not all is lost; he charges the Charmander, bone raised, and smacks him about the head a few times while still infused with the earthy energy of his charge above ground. Roy yowls and tries to get away from the immensely painful beating, his good mood disappearing right away.

The black Charmander glares at the snickering form of the Cubone, murder blazing in his eyes. He cracks his knuckles and charges, snarling and claws flailing, but Shkan knows just what to do...

A split second later, the wind is knocked out of Roy and he finds himself pinned to the ground under Shkan, hands pinned over his head with the Cubone's club, effectively stopping his attack. The Charmander thrashes and growls, but cannot free himself to continue his assault.

Unseen by the battlers, the field around them shifts and reforms back into it's original state, the pile of rocks and tunnel disappearing.

Having fun Shkan...?

Well, since you're nice and close to him, rock his world - no, not like that, this is a kids game - try to be quick and use Earthquake to hit for some nice, solid damage. He'll probably be looking to hurt you, through status effects or outright damage. If he goes for an outright physical attack, use Counter. Otherwise, use Iron Defence to give yourself a boost. After that...if you're feeling a bit under the weather because of some status condition, like poison, use Facade to share it with him. Or if you're alright and you didn't use Iron Defence before, then use it now! Or if neither of those apply...just whack him with your club.

Earthquake ~ Counter/Iron Defence ~ Facade/Iron Defence/Bone Club

This looks bumpy hun...this round is going to hurt.

Since Earthquake is on the menu, lets use counter to send the force right back. Then, hopefully, you'll be free from him. I want you to create a Substitute to take the beating for you, give it about 20 percent. As a finisher, I want you to use Toxic to give them a status.

Here's hoping.
