Format: 2v2 Single Battle
DQ Time: 7 days
Damage Cap: None
Banned / Restrictions: OHKOs. Direct healing moves restricted to 3 per Pokémon (does not include Chilling).

Arena: Sky Canopy

The Sky Canopy is a circular platform big enough to house even the largest of Pokémon; it is made of moss-covered stone. The platform is balancing on a tall pillar, which stands in the center of an even larger lake. The lake is off-limits for the battle, however - all fighting will take place on the platform. The Canopy is unnaturally sturdy considering its old and withered state, and can endure even an Earthquake attack without breaking apart.

The view from the Canopy is breathtaking; beyond the lake just below the platform, one can behold lush forests, endless plains, deserts and mountains and ancient buildings - the Sky Canopy happens to be situated very high up in the air, hence the name. A fall from the platform will guarantee a knock-out, even though you would land in water.

Rumor has it that the Sky Canopy once housed a certain colossus...

This looks like a job for the Beast! Mr. Male Aerodactyl, go!

He has a signature move, by the way. It wasn't in my profile at the time, though. Do I still get to use it? If not, that's fine. Just asking. Just asking...

Hurrrm.

Well, seeing as it was approved before I posted the battle, you can probably get away with it. I'm going to say it's fine; Walker can argue if he likes.

I'm fine with him being able to use it :V

I see your big scary venomous dino, and raise you a starfish:

[Luminous] Staryu (X) <Natural Cure> (shush staryu can too fight on land D:<)

Alright little... whatever gender you prefer, let's start things out with a good Water Pulse shall we? In fact let's keep trying that until The Beast is good and confused, eh? When you're sure he's confused, switch to Bubblebeam for the rest of the round. If at any point he's Protecting, Harden.

Water Pulse/Harden ~ Water Pulse/BubbleBeam/Harden ~ Water Pulse/BubbleBeam/Harden

I see! Clever choice. But the Beast has faced many a more competent foe in his days! He has slain Mogul Khan, the Axe! He has slain Razor, the Lightning Revenant! He has slain Kel'thuzad, the Lich! Do you think your pathetic starfish stands a chance against the ferocious Beast?

Quite calm - after all, the worst the Aerodactyl can do is knock it out.

The Beast wastes no time on formalities: the instant both he and his opponent have received their orders, he leaps into the air and lunges towards Luminous, gaping maw oozing with biotoxins alien to his kind. He swoops, snatches the starfish up in his jaws with an ominous crunching noise, and rises up again in one smooth, practiced motion, Luminous clamped firmly in his jaws.
The Staryu, despite an initial wave of sick dread, seems less hurt than alarmed by its sudden change of position, but quickly manages to pull itself together and fire a Water Pulse into the only available target: The Beast's throat. As the choking rush of water hits his gullet, The Beast retches, staggered by its force. His first cough is enough to propel Luminous out of his mouth and towards the stone below.

The Staryu realizes, much to its chagrin, that what had seemed like a good idea might have been a little hasty. Its captor hadn't been flying high, but the height is quite enough for Luminous. The spinning fall is making it dizzy... and as it notes that, it wonders why. It's done plenty of corkscrews and loops in the water; this should be no diff... oh. Poison. It winces, as much as a starfish can wince, decides that it will cross that bridge when it comes to it, and braces itself for its imminent impact with the ground - which should come along in, oh, a few seconds. Except that it doesn't. The Beast has by now quite recovered from his abrupt refreshment, and having been instructed to keep hold of Luminous, he plucks it out of the air, snapping down hard with teeth dripping with dark energy.
Before the starfish can fire another Water Pulse down The Beast's throat - he's low enough now for hitting the ground not to matter - the Aerodactyl is shifting it about in his mouth, carefully aligning the clear red jewel away from him. Luminous tries to twist around before The Beast climbs higher, but it's in vain: his jaws are firmly clamped down. Despairing of how to get at the dactyl, it settles for focusing on the defensive plates in its skin, willing them to knit together ever more strongly. It certainly wouldn't mind being a little tougher...

The Beast levels out into a glide, arcing back towards his side of the arena. While in level flight, he tosses Luminous into the air, preparing to snap it down in another Bite—
—to be met by a blast of water to the back. Startled by the clout and quickly beginning to feel the clamminess of the water seeping into his rocky hide, he drops several feet, but he is not going to let his captive go again. Furiously, he darts up, dark energy renewed, and crunches sharply on the Staryu, clamping his jaws down as firmly as he can. Luminous hanging half out of his mouth, he heads toward the fringe of the great pillar, landing on the very brim. He leers at Luminous as it is left dangling over the edge, and the starfish takes a moment to ignore everything that is happening.

Notes
- Luminous couldn't hit The Beast on the second action, so he Hardened even though The Beast wasn't Protecting.
- Lots of gray-area reffing that I don't want to bother explaining blah blah blah.
- MD attacks first next round.

...wait how the hell did Luminous get Paralyzed? There was no mention of anything that could have stunned him. O.o

Signature Attribute: Poisonous Salivary Glands

The Beast is an unusual Aerodactyl whose salivary glands produce a stinging venom, which does not only deal damage but also slows the sufferer. This poison is injected into his victims through his fangs, allowing him to poison any opponent he bites or otherwise attacks with his teeth. However, he is unable to imbue his fangs with elemental energy in the manner of other Aerodactyl.

Effects: The Beast can use Poison Fang, but not Fire Fang, Thunder Fang or Ice Fang. If an enemy is poisoned as a result of Poison Fang, they are also mildly paralyzed. Any biting attack that is not Poison Fang still has a 10% chance to poison targets (regular poison) if successful.
Didn't mention it because it didn't come up. E probably doesn't realize it yet.

GET UP ON THE HYDRA'S BACK

(Teleport onto The Beast's back (try to stay on as long as you can please), stun it with Thunder Wave, then use Water Pulse... or if that doesn't work, just replace Thunder Wave with Water Pulse)

The Beast calmly gnaws on his captured foe, dark energy leaking from his overlarge fangs. The bite attack lacks its’ normal force, since The Beast isn’t actually biting – he’s simply chewing – and so there’s no actual impact; but the dark energy and the grinding of teeth do their own damage.

As far as Luminous is concerned, the attack is doing quite enough harm. The staryu concentrates for a moment, trying to ignore the dark energy leaking from the massive jaws, and –

It disappears.

The Beast’s jaws snap shut, biting his own tongue. He screams in shock and pain, taking a few steps backwards as he immediately stops his bite attack – and is even more startled as the staryu reappears on his back.

Luminous lands face-up on the behemoth’s back, awkwardly balancing between the wings and the back-spike. Having no legs or arms to speak of, the staryu has a rather difficult time staying in place, especially when the aerodactyl begins to flail its wings in annoyance.

And even worse, when The Beast rises off the platform and into the air.

The aerodactyl swerves at mach speed, screeching his anger quite loudly. The staryu remains wedged between his opponents’ massive wings, being rather large itself, but it can feel itself slipping. The Beast attempts to twist his head and bite onto the staryu, but gives up rather quickly, knowing it would be impossible while the damned Pokémon is still on his back.

Luminous, knowing it has only a short while before it falls off, begins to spark with bright electricity. The Beast can feel the energy even before it’s released and flails even more wildly, causing Luminous to hurry its’ attack. The sparks rush, enveloping the staryu in a sheet of electricity, before spreading out and covering the even larger aerodactyl. The Beast freezes midair for a moment, his muscles convulsing, but manages to regain his flight.

By now incredibly pissed off, The Beast turns all the way upside down – quite a feat, if he may say so himself – and flaps as powerfully as he can. He only manages to stay that way for a few seconds, but it’s enough to dislodge the annoying staryu, who falls several feet before landing onto the platform. The force of the impact knocks whatever breath the staryu had right out of it, while The Beast lands somewhat clumsily beside his opponent, his muscles twitching.

Breathing somewhat heavily after that impressive show of aerobatics, The Beast jumps forwards and latches onto Luminous with his massive jaw, dark energy leaking out of his fangs once more. This time the impact was quite strong, and following the fall to the platform, it was quite enough to stun the staryu out of its’ wits. While The Beast keeps its’ hold on his prey, munching down to show his anger, Luminous finds itself too startled too attack at all – or even to think.

Notes
- The Beast’s first Bite didn’t do as much damage, since he was already holding onto Luminous and didn’t really bite it.
- The Beast wasn’t fully paralyzed on any of the actions.
- The Beast used some energy while flailing around to get Luminous off.
- Luminous flinched on the third action.
- Since it didn’t say, I’m assuming that Luminous took 2% damage from poison on the last round.
- Walker attacks first.

If at any point you're in The Beast's mouth, shove a Toxic down his throat, see how he likes that. If he's poisoned or you're not in his mouth, fire off a Water Pulse at him. If he Protects, chill. On the last action, rid yourself of those nasty statuses via Natural Cure.

The Beast glares angrily at Ruse as his eye twitches. He really wishes he could bring out the damned sun just so he could make the stupid staryu sweat. But no, he has to be paralyzed. Of course. Because some sort of crazy god hates him and is punishing him for something, so now he just has to stand her and stare like a bloody idiot. Damn you staryu, when I can move, I’m going to crush you into a star-shaped corpse.

Ruse slowly rises, levitating inches off the platform. It takes a few moments to recover its’ senses before releasing a blast of freezing cold water at the paralyzed behemoth. Since the aerodactyl can’t move, the water pulse easily hits, soaking The Beast through its’ stony exterior.

The Beast grumbles while he flaps his wings. Perhaps the cold water was enough to restore his movement; whatever it was, he didn’t care, so long as he could move. He wasted no time rushing at the staryu, slashing at it with his claws and wings and biting down with his enormous jaw; his attack was so fast and startling that Ruse had no response but to take it. Despite the aerodactyl’s furiously repeated strikes, he somehow missed the staryu’s ruby center – a fact Ruse was extremely grateful for. But when The Beast backed away from the aching staryu, he felt tremendously calmer, as if the attack had taken away all his anger.

Once again, Ruse slowly lifts itself off the platform, wincing at the many scratches and bite marks left upon its hard body. It would enjoy its revenge. Another burst of water was released from the staryu’s uppermost point, hitting the aerodactyl in the chest. The water was accompanied by supersonic waves, so high-pitched that The Beast hadn’t managed to hear them before; but now, he did, and they distracted him from noticing anything else. He thought how beautiful they sounded, not even noticing that the water was no longer hitting him. So pretty.

Ruse gave a mental sigh as it let itself drop gently to the platform. The poison and paralysis that plagued it were, truly, more tiring than any of the attacks it performed. It concentrated on healing itself, and could already feel the paralysis lifting – it had been a mild case to begin with. The poison, however, was rather harder to take care of. Usually Ruse could spend as long as it needed to heal its status’ afflictions, but now it only have several minutes. Not nearly enough time. The poison remained within the staryu’s odd blood system, if a bit weaker.

- Natural Cure generally takes a whole round, so Ruse only managed to heal its mild paralysis and prevent the toxic from worsening this round.
- The Beast was paralyzed on the first action and so couldn't use Sunny Day.
- Water Pulse confused The Beast on the second action.
- Music Dragon attacks first.

Hrrm! I never knew Sunny Day required dancing. I guess you learn something new every day, huh, my Beast?

Ah. Just so you know, when I specify "action ~ (nothing) ~ action", it literally means I want the Beast to do something on his first action, nothing on the second, then something on the third. In other words, I'd have preferred for the Beast to attack on the same action that Luminous used Natural Cure. Wasn't really relevant in this particular case, but, you know, keep it mind. Perhaps I should be clearer on that point next time.

Hrrm. Well, a quick Rest sure would do nicely right about now, but I don't like how open to attack that leaves us! I think we need a little protection first...

Rock Tomb (around self) ~ Rest ~ Rest (if not already Resting) / Chill

Ahh, mixed up Rain Dance and Sunny Day - that's what I get for reffing when half asleep. >>; I'll edit that.

Yeah, if you wanted him to attack on the third action rather than the second, it would've been helpful if you'd clarified that. Since I just assumed you were being weird, like you generally are. If it's really important I can edit, but uh. ._.;

Ho-hoh! A rock tomb shell, eh? We won't stand for this, not will we? Start off by using Recover, we won't be taking any damage this round, so there's no reason not to. Next, wait for The Beast to start resting (I assume you should be able to tell by the snoring- I hear he's made quite a nasty habit of it) and then move the rocks so that you have a hole wide enough to hit him with a Bubblebeam through (see if you can make the shell's structure shift around for some damage, but focus on making a hole to attack through). If he doesn't Rest on the second action, chill and move the hole making over to the next action. On the final action, Bubblebeam The Beast through the hole, unless you failed to make the hole the previous action.

Recover ~ Psychic (after The Beast rests) / chill ~ Bubblebeam / Psychic (after The Beast rests)
