Open My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

Dinru nudged the muffin towards the dragon. It looked really unusual, but it was also totally adorable. "Go on, eat up little one."

Starlight stared up at the muffin, and her silvery mist seemed to swirl around it, intensifying a little bit. The mist would feel rather warm and tingly to the touch, like little batteries discharging. Then suddenly, without warning, she snatched it away from Dinru with her jaws, nearly biting the pony's hooves but fortunately not causing any harm. She bit at it a little bit, using her tongue to pull it deeper into her mouth, then finally closed her jaws around it and swallowed, again not really chewing, though it didn't seem like she needed to. The young dragon began to walk and rub against Dinru's side and hind legs like a kitten, making a gentle shrill of a 'chirr' sound. Her skin would feel soft and leathery, as well as unusually warm.

She studied the menu carefully, trying to decide what to get. Maybe a chocolate cupcake? "I think I'll get a chocolate cupcake," she said. "I'm going to go order."

Walking over to Pinkie Pie, she meekly poked her and asked,"Hey, uh, you're kind of busy, but can I get a chocolate cupcake?"

She nodded in subtle thanks of the door holding gesture, walking inside... crowded was somewhat of an understatement. All of these... ponies... argh. She had seen many of them around, but had never really spoken to much. Like that pink one... who was all energetic and happy. It did smell nice though. Her stomach growled hopefully.

"I'll just have what you're having," she mumbled after a quick study of the menu. Ordering was always a bit of a... tense event in places like these. It was the one moment where she was forced to confront someone, even if it was trivial... gosh, she hoped she wouldn't screw up the words of her order. Chocolate cupcake, chocolate cupcake...

Pinkie looked at the darling little dragon, and squeaked in delight, "It's so cute!"

She then turned to yet another pink pony with glasses and said, "Sure! One choco cupcake, coming right up!" She fetched on out of the display case, though sadly it wasn't warm anymore, and handed it to the other pony. She smiled cheesily at her, some cupcake crumbs in between her teeth. Then she passed another chocolate cupcake to the other pony who had asked for one.

Dinru was glad that the dragon enjoyed it's treat and was starting to think it was absolutely the most adorable thing ever. "That's a good little dwagon~" she said in the most saccharine voice one could imagine. "Do you want me to gedju anoder one? Woudju like dat? Huh widdow dwagon?" She thought to pat it's head, but she opted not to in case it was fragile.

The silver dragon began to coo as she was praised for her apparent cuteness. She looked up at Dinru, staring up at her as the pony seemed to baby her, and began to chirp happily and excitedly. It seemed pretty clear by now that she didn't understand how to talk yet, but whether or not she understood others' speech was a different question.

Dinru's heart simply melted at the dragon's happy chirps. Interpreting them as a "yes", she walked over to Pinkie Pie. "Hey, when you're done with that order can I have three more muffins?"

"Sure!' Pinkie Pie pulled out another muffin, a blueberry one. She handed it to the black pony, before looking over at Lili.

"I think we need to make more baked goods," she whispered, and the other pink pony nodded her head in agreement.

Star quickly followed Dinru back over to Pinkie, sitting up before her. She wagged her tail happily and stared up at the muffin intensely, seeming to drool a bit. The glow from the silvery mist around her seemed to intensify, burning more brightly and thickly.

Dinru exchanged her money for the muffin and gave it to the glowing dragon. "Aawwww, lookit how cute you are. You deserve anoder fummin widdew dwagin, yess you doo." Dinru's heart had pretty much melted by then. She just wanted to take the little thing home with her, it was so adorable! Even if it was a little strange.

The silver dragon gave a thrilled chirp and laid down before Dinru and Pinkie, holding onto the muffin between her forepaws. She lowered her head to pick it up with her jaws, then raised her snout up in the air, tilting her head back to help pull the muffin to her throat. She'd control the position of the muffin by biting it a few times, then finally swallowed. This time, however, instead of eagerly asking for more, the dragon rolled over onto her side, resting up against the two ponies' hooves, then turned her head to look up at them, resting her forepaws on her tummy. She made a soft, content cooing sound.

"Aww! It's so flippin' adorable!!" Pinkie shrieked in excitement. If Fluttershy was here, she'd die from cuteness overload. Then again, she couldn't blame her.

Lili, however, wondered where the little dragon had come from. It seemed to be a completely different dragon from Ember and Spike. Maybe it was part sea serpent? No, sea serpents were more... er... dramatic. Maybe it was some weird hybrid of both dragon and... and... um, well, something else.

"Huh? Oh, well... alright," Ember replied, following Chrome's glance at the trash can. She had a feeling that he didn't like his muffin for some reason... Ember followed Chrome out of the bakery, jogging alone to keep up with him. "Twilight, huh? Yeah, if anypony would know what's in that book, it'd be Twilight."

Chrome walked down the main street towards Twilight Sparkles' house, all the while painfully aware of the gurgling in his own stomach. His inattentiveness caused him to stumble and trip over a rouge tree branch growing in the path, and he tumbled to the ground.

The impact caused the strange book to fly out of the open saddlebag and land, open, on the ground. Immediately the pages began flipping of their own accord, stopping in what seemed like the exact center of the book. It began glowing with an eerie, harsh, green light, unlike the warm green glow cast by Chrome's horn. The light seemed to make chrome nauseous just to look at. The grass around it seemed to brown and wilt, and then the book let out an enormous bang and black smoke began billowing out of it faster than any natural smoke rises. The smoke was inlaid with what seemed like shimmering green threads. It spewed out of the book and into the sky, slowly blotting out the bright sunlight that was shining through the spring sky, allowing only a sickly green aurora to be cast over the landscape. Then, with a sound like a gunshot, the book snapped shut and the smoke stopped pouring out. It began drifting towards Ponyville.

"Crap."

"Aaa! Chrome, are you okay?" Ember hopped over the tree branch that caused Chrome to trip and tried to help him up. "You gotta watch where you're--"

She stopped when she saw the book had tumbled out of Chrome's pack, opened itself and was turning its own pages. The little dragon watched in horror as dark smoke plumed from its pages and rose into the sky. "What is that!?" Ember exclaimed, shaking Chrome's shoulder violently. "It looks like it's headed for Ponyville...! We have to go find Twilight now and find out what in Equestria that is!"

As if feeling something was nearby, Starlight suddenly jumped up from her laying position and growled outside. Without any further warning the young dragon bolted outside, starting to glow more brightly. Stopping out with a clear view of the town square, the silver dragon took a defensive stance, growling and snarling at a black cloud that was beginning to spread toward them. Her own aura seemed to become similar in appearance to the black cloud, only it was a light gray, glowing brightly.

She accepted the cupcake, noting how everyone seemed to fawn over that odd dragon... come to think of it, she hadn't really see much like it before. But unlike the rest, she didn't really see what was so cute about it. In fact, she felt a bit... annoyed. She supposed though it took attention off of her, and that was-

Wait a minute. Where was it going?

Hmm... follow it? That was some odd behavior, from an odd creature, no doubt. Suspicious... part of her told her that she really probably shouldn't and it wasn't any of her business. But then... curiosity struck and put all of those notions out of the door. She looked at Snowflake for a moment, and then without another word, (she didn't really know what to say in this situation anyway) she followed the dragon.

"...Holy sprackets. What in Equestria...?" The sight that caught her eyes, some odd smoke that caused her to drop her untouched cupcake in shock. And that suspicious thing was... glowing. She wasn't sure what to make of it. Whatever it was though, it didn't seem particularly good.

Pinkie Pie closed her eyes and smiled at the tiny dragon, bending her head down to nuzzle its belly. But it ran away from her, out of the bakery, and she said, "Oh, oh no! Don't run away little dragon!" She started after it, galloping behind it. She noticed it glowing, and she blinked in surprise.

Star stopped in the middle of the town square, and Pinkie fell into place next to it.

"What's wrong?" she asked, before raising her head to see what the hatchling was looking at. She gasped. She had seen this before. Once, when she was with all of her closest friends, they went to stop another dragon from polluting Equestria's air with smoke. But this was different. It seemed as if the smoke was... alive?

Lili watched Pinkie leave, shaking her head after her. She had customers to take care of, not go run around leaving her and the Cakes to take care of business. She took a step outside and blinked in surprise.

"What in the name of Princess Celestia?!"

Bruce strode into the town square, looking back and forth. He had noticed the black smoke, and had followed it here. Coincidentally, his daughter lived here in Ponyville, too. He was on a break from his duties to the Princesses, and he had chosen this time to spend with his daughter. He noticed other ponies coming out of their houses, staring up at the clouds in wonder. What was going on?

He walked over to the nearest pony, who was staring up at the sky next to a dragon.

"Excuse me, Miss, but do you know what's going on?"

Pinkie looked over to him.

"Unfortunately, no. I... I don't know. Maybe it's another dragon problem."

Dinru kissed the widdow dwagon on it's head- or at least tried to. "Hey, you don't run away from a pony after they feed you!" She ran off after it... and then stopped in the middle of the town with all of the other ponies, looking up at the ominous cloud of grey smoke. "Oh. I forgive you dragon."

Chrome shook Ember off his shoulder and stared at the book, now lying in a ring of dead grass. "I suppose I can't just leave this lying around..." he said, looking up and the ominous black-green cloud that expanding towards Ponyville.

He advanced towards the book cautiously, all too aware of the ominous green light still emanating from the book. His own horn began to glow a much softer, warmer shade of green, and he opened his saddlebag and attempted to lift the book inside. However, as soon as he attempted to life the book but magic, a white-hot beam of light shot out from the book and hit Chrome's horn, sending him flying back and out of the circle of dead grass. The smoke appeared to quiver and ripple, as if in response to the book. A green bolt shot down from the cloud to the book, setting fire to the ring of grass and causing the book to fly out. Chrome got up and immediately began stamping out the flames with his hooves.

Once the fire had been extinguished, he looked at the book again and thought to himself "What exactly am I supposed to do now?"

Twilight Sparkle sat in her study, reading over an old spell book for heating and cooling water. Just as she was about to try it out, she heard a sharp crack followed by several loud booms. Looking outside, she saw the large, black cloud billow out from down the road. Hastily, she ran over to her quill and parchment and began scrawling a note. She then tossed it at an unsuspecting Spike, yelling "Send this to Princess Celestia!" before galloping out the door and towards the spot where the smoke seemed to emanate from.
