• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Closed Neither Here Nor There

Chisai let out a squeak. In the quiet, she heard movement coming from one of the buildings.

"There's....something in there." Chisai said, pointing to one of the buildings, "I don't trust anything here."

(The "something" is Zora's character)

Ara slowed down as she arrived at the village, looking around with a shiver. The sense of normalcy had departed with the cat revealing it could talk. This place only solidified that feeling of something being not right, too dream-like for her to consider it real. Peering at the row of houses, she strode up to one that had a closed door and knocked, keeping a wary eye to her left, prepared to leap away if the open door revealed some unknown danger. "If we are in a dream... we have to wake up in some way eventually, right? Maybe there's something here that isn't a creepy cat that could kill us."

Waiting a beat, if nothing happened she would try the doorknob, each movement slow and tentative.

The place Shelly was in turned out to be the general store; the place was silent save for her own sounds, and reeked. The cause of the smell is quickly evident; she finds herself in the produce small section, and everything has gone rotten. There is a till and a few shopping baskets in view, and the canned goods section not too far behind her.

There was no answer when Ara knocked on the door. The door wasn't locked either, and swung open almost as soon as the doorknob was touched. Inside was furnished fairly modestly in the style of the 40's in Europe, except...

Everything was made of meat and bone.

The walls pulsed slightly, just like the chamber from before. The faint metallic smell of blood fills the place, and everything is covered in flesh, from ceiling to floor. There are a few chairs, the supports crafted of bone and the cushions almost resembling tongues. The largest armchair has teeth. The small coffee table seems to be crafted entirely of bone, but connected to the floor. There is also a flesh-and-bone cabinet on the far wall of the room the door opened onto, and a door on each side.

"...Eugh. What is that stench...?" Shelly covered her nose with the collar of her shirt and nearly gagged. Everything was... rotted. That explained that. Ever slowly and cautiously, she stood and brushed herself off, taking great care around the burns on her arms. They still stung...

"Man, where am I...?" she grimaced. Taking a shopping basket, Shelly approached the canned goods, fearful of being alone in a creepy place like this.

"No harm in getting food... I'm gonna have to survive somehow. Alone... in a store full of mostly dead food..."
