ask around the railyard about any Commonwealth visitors Ignatius might have brought by, as well as who actually runs this railway system.
One of the visitors was, apparently, a rail tycoon and their entourage. Doesn't sound like anything special, though – just a captain of industry with typically avaricious business practices.
The railway system exists in a precarious case of state capitalism – it appears that the actual network itself is nationalised, but the service operators are generally private industrial companies. One shudders to imagine the amount of palm-greasing going on to arrange its inner workings.
research about the Escarpa clan, their history and ascendant legends like Wandering Light and Stormbringer; specifically if there's any clues about the Wanderings Lights mortal identity, how Stormbringer died, and what can kill a saint
The Wandering Light is not well-known in Frontier Town. Some seem to think it's a title of the current chieftain, others think it's another name for the Stormbringer. One of the Sanctum acolytes claims the Wandering Light used to
be an Escarpa chieftain – but centuries ago. A couple random townies think Koa is asking for directions to the Wanderin' Zera.
As best as Koa can find out, the Stormbringer passed away of natural causes, and not in battle or during a great catastrophe. He doesn't know whether 'natural causes' means senescence, ill-health, or taking their own life, however.
any legends, myths or rumors, tales etc about ascendant legends articles of their power left behind, and where.
There are plenty of fairytales and children's stories about legendary pokémon bestowing magical items upon mortal 'mon, but Koa is hard-pressed to find anything that points him to real divine artefacts for the time being.
asking around town for any quadrupeds who knows a thing or two about fighting technqiues, specifically martial arts related knowledge
There aren't exactly many martial artists in town. "Fighting techniques" are the fare of bounty hunters, feral clanners, and outlaws. Or rangers, some suppose... One or two townies also mention a monastery in the Obstinea Mountains, west of the frontier, that practice what sounds to Koa like martial arts.
hanging out around the towns outskirts to see what the 'feral' pokemon are like. Can they be befriended or taught simple commands, do they enjoy some training/sparring, or does it just scare them off? He's curious how much they differ from pokemon back home, and see if he can befriend any.
This seems like it'd be worth a scene.
In the meantime, most are pretty skittish. They don't seem as cognitively sophisticated as the wild 'mon from Koa's world. Some will battle him, but it seems to be more of a territorial behaviour than he is used to – which may track to him, considering he is an Electrike rather than a human right now.
Prim pokes around for a job offering as a ranch hand or cattleherd.
It's not hard to find work as a pastoral farm hand. There are a lot of domesticated wild 'mon out in the wider frontier county.
probes the locals to find out what she can about the land of Tsainan.
Tsainan is, apparently, a distant land across the western ocean full of unheard-of luxuries, impenetrable foreign etiquette, supernaturally potent martial traditions, and exotic foods. It is, also, full of desperado mercenaries and impoverished immigrants coming to Luctemar in droves to make a life for themselves. It is unclear whether Tsainan is a single imperial state, or if it has a more complex political makeup, but it is said to have been ruled since ancient times by descendants of the divine phoenix, emperors and empresses with vast temple-palaces, harems, treasuries, armies, and so on.
The Tsainanese residents of Frontier Town seem to find this characterisation of their homeland either amusing or irritating to various degrees.
Wes visits Drungfield again for more treatment for his aggravated injury and gets a scolding from her.
Wes seems to be healing nicely now – a week or so in Forlas, and he's already substantially more physically robust. His Aura must be acclimating to the world.
She still calls him a 'damn fool boy', though.
runs the errands for Drungfield
The Indeedee thanks Wes for his assistance, considers this payment in full for her services. She manages to avoid praising him directly, or even smiling, but she does give him a surprisingly generous tip.
However, perhaps he is able to connect with the voice again while there and can ask it a few brief questions?
Wes gets a faint feeling of the voice's presence, but not strong enough to converse with. He can feel it more strongly during battle, but that's when he's focused on surviving – some of the wild 'mon in there are
tough.
Needs a scene and accompanying friends to be more successful. Other opportunities may turn up soon.
Wes meets Alejandro and proves his skills with mechanical tinkering. His methods aren’t the most refined, and he values efficiency over aesthetics, but his results are effective all the same.
The old Galvantula is impressed with the practicality Wes shows – aesthetics are for artists and the rich, and the rich don't buy spare parts and thingamajigs. He's hired.
