PARANORMASIGHT mafia [town win]

As much as my principles would like to keep my vote on Jun until he acquires thoughts, I do think that his recent message is a very audacious thing for an evil to consider posting.

Yoko Fukunaga

All right, I have managed to reread the game.

The universe were Mayu is mafia exists, I suppose - in that universe she jumped on voting Tetsuo as an off-hand thing to reinforce her aggressive approach/get distancing points if one of them dies, only for Richter to get on that wagon too, and then Mayu didn't feel able to get off the wagon after that without it potentially becoming damning. But I think it's a stretch, and the reread made me feel more confident in Mayu's posting in other ways, too. I feel kinda better about her than Natsue after the reread, actually - I didn't feel super great about Natsue's response to being questioned about why she didn't break the tie at EoD, which felt a little manufactured.

I did eye this:

Shogo makes sense as a town kill as the #55 to #56 progression feels almost outing given the flip (though oddly they were lost wolf) and they would have been my first choice to push today had they not been killed, but Harue isn't exactly who I was expecting the wolves to kill so it might be useful information to deduce whether a SK is laying about

It doesn't really make much sense to kill Shogo who looked really bad off of the Tetsuo flip and didn't really have many substantial reads besides (and meta wasn't a factor due to this being anon) over Natsue or someone on the Tetsuo wagon. The possibility I am worried over is that Shogo was the SK kill, Harue was killed by town and the wolves' target was either docced or they were blocked
@Mayu Chozawa In the first of these posts you suggest Shogo was a town kill and Harue might have been a serial killer, but then in the second you seem to be thinking Shogo was killed by a serial killer, Harue by town, and the mafia kill was blocked. What was the reasoning for this shift? Why would you grow to think Harue was killed by town rather than Shogo?

I don't feel super great about Yoko or Yakko, but I don't find them super scummy either. Mio I'm side-eyeing a bit for similar reasons as Mayu at one point, although the specificity of waiting for something to happen that didn't materialize doesn't feel like a lie which is a plus for her.

Not confident enough to place a vote just yet, all in all, and really need to get to bed, but I should definitely be back tomorrow to catch up, check my notes again, and place a vote.

So... Yoko Fukunaga just hasn't turned up today, after all, huh? That'd follow if she'd just started trying to draw less attention after what happened yesterday. Or, y'know, if that were just that bad for thr ol' morale.

It's a wagon. Not much more to ask for today.

I ask you all: name at least 3 people who you would place your trust in at this moment. It matters little if you feel as if you may change your mind later - that is fine. At this moment, can you name 3 people you trust?

I have made my own trust clear so far. I would appreciate others making their stances clear as well.

Just because Shogo makes sense as a town kill doesn't mean they were. Of course, the big concern right now would be that if a town vig killed them they'd be likely to claim it.

Yoko Fukunaga
Audacious maybe given that Tetsuo got suspected for posting basically the same thing (albeit with a much more hedgy feel) but I'm still not impressed with the slot, especially since it took until you posting about it for me to even realize they posted this phase. If they refuse to contribute and town vig still has shots then you know what to do.

I don't think people have really done much to earn trust. Even with Richter, they are being hard carried by essentially a single vote, and given that we might be dealing with a hostile ITP I don't think there's much use in hard towncoring people AORN. If I had to GTH though I'd say people unlikely to be wolf specifically are Richter, Natsue, and I guess Ayame (I don't have major issues with their posts)

The audacity does not make me trust Jun per se, but it does make me inclined to think that he is not the best vote today. I would hope for more from him as the game goes on, but I can only let audacity pass for so long.

Regarding posting the same as Tetsuo, I find the contexts and tones different enough such that the situations are not quite comparable.

Tetsuo made that type of post (“I don’t have many thoughts”) on Day 1, where it’s a more forgivable mindset (albeit not a productive one), and had, as you say, a hedgy and apologetic tone.
Jun, on the other hand, is making this post on Day 2, with two evil deaths and a whole cycle to read. He also makes it completely unashamedly, not that I endorse the lack of contribution.

The audacity to say you have no thoughts after two evils have died is something I do not expect from an evil whose team is bleeding hard. It is not impossible, and Jun remains my second concern, but the key word there is second.

We do have to start somewhere. I agree that perhaps reasons for trust may be weak at this stage. Nevertheless, trust is vital.

If I had to place my trust on anyone, it would be Mayu, Natsue, Richter and Ayame, with the latter two being more tentative than the former two

Also, if we have a town vig, I think the silence on their part may indicate they still have shots left and don't want to paint a target on themselves

I'm also not too fond of Jun's response, but for now Yoko Fukunaga

Jun Erio

I have some impression of the rest of the cast of this macabre game, I would like to take your measure as well.

I simply haven't had much to say. I don't have any impressions of the others so if I can't contribute to conversation I don't see why I should. Likewise if I don't have any major suspects, I simply won't vote for now.
Do you not have any feelings reading the game and the people who've died?

Not any that haven't been expressed elsewhere. I feel that my input would be unnecessary.

I think probably right now I trust Mayu and Richter more than anyone but am less sure about the third slot.

I'm kind of with Natsue that Jun's refusal to comment seems more audaciously adamant to avoid saying anything than actual scum would be likely to go for, so I feel as if there has to be a different motivation there. Yoko does strike me as an annoyingly easy target right now; I wish she would post something. (@Yoko Fukunaga ?)

Mmmmmhhh. I'm not quite sure about the Yoko train, but I don't think I have a better vote, we can certainly afford a miselimination, and I feel like the flip will at least give us a bit to work with.

Yoko Fukunaga

Normally I'd panic about all the people joining the Yoko wagon, but I suppose there's likely only one wolf left anyway. Not like there's much of a better option with most people slanking for 3/4ths the phase

End of day 2; Yoko Fukunaga was mafia, town wins New

Dear guests, I must admit this: Kinshibori Park is just a park. It was built a few decades ago, in the 1950s; whatever came before lies forgotten beneath thick layers of concrete. In another few decades, it will be Sumida's 107th best attraction (out of 333) on TripAdvisor. Playground, phone booths, statues. Nothing special.

That is one story. There is another story here, if you would seek it with me.

Sumida does not itself adjoin Tokyo Bay, but as I have mentioned, rivers flowing from the bay mark its borders. It is a land of waterways. For instance, Kinshibori Park was built over an Edo-period canal where many townspeople fished. And one night not long ago, when the water still ran clear and the fish shone silver under the moonlight, a lonely girl whispered...

Oh! I nearly told you something which would have spoiled the story. Please forgive me.

Suffice it to say that, on most nights, those with strong spirit sense might notice a presence here. A shape in the shadows, a sigh without source. Tonight, however, anybody can tell that Kinshibori Park shudders under an otherworldly storm. Suspicion and resentment seep into every thought. The metal structures twist and warp, the unnatural haze presses in, the wail of curse echoes grows and grows.

But you, my honored guests, you don't shudder. Your determination has led the tale here. Bloody though the path may have been.

With your convictions aligned that Yoko Fukunaga must leave us this day, town has won the game.

Yoko Fukunaga from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young woman with short brown hair

“Ooh! You're sharp! I could cut my finger on you!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Yoko Fukunaga, you are a member of the Mafia

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

huR9wKR.png

You possess the curse stone of the Evergreen Beech.

Now that the ending has been penned, I must take my leave. It has been an experience unlike any other to serve as your humble Storyteller.

Perhaps, after all, you don't believe in curses. Perhaps spirits, hauntings, and the Rite of Resurrection you dismiss as my invention, incompatible with modern logic. Who am I to tell you otherwise? I hope only that you believe in the power of a story.

Identites & roles part 1 New
The real identities of all our cast members are listed below. Make your final guesses before revealing them!

Below, you will find the text of the full role PMs, that you may peruse them at your leisure. I have had to split this into multiple posts - even modern technology, the likes of which I cannot imagine, has its limitations...

Shogo Okiie from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young man with brown hair

“Suigen Gamyodo my ass. This guy thinks he can sell me anything!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Shogo Okiie, you are a member of the Mafia. However, you do not know who the other members of the Mafia are, they do not know that you are out there, and you do not count as Mafia for the purposes of the Mafia win condition. If there is ever only one Mafia member alive besides yourself, you will learn their identity, but they will not learn yours.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

A copper stone artifact shaped like a fish emerging from a woven basket

You possess the curse stone of the Whispering Canal. To activate your curse stone, each night, you may send me a PM with a word that is more than 7 letters long. You cannot use the same word more than once, and the word cannot be a part of another player's name. If someone else says the exact word in the game thread the following day, your curse stone will be activated. Then, you may quote the post in which they use the word, write You don't say? Blow up <player name> in bold, and tag @The Storyteller. Both you and the quoted player will die immediately. You can only use your power on the same day that the player says the word (you cannot blow someone up on day 3 for something they said on day 2).

You may use this power only during the day phase, and you cannot use it within the last 2 hours of the day.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Shogo. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Yoko Fukunaga from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young woman with short brown hair

“Ooh! You're sharp! I could cut my finger on you!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Yoko Fukunaga, you are a member of the Mafia. Your fellow mafia member is @Tetsuo Tsutsumi.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

huR9wKR.png

You possess the curse stone of the Evergreen Beech. To activate your curse stone, once in the game, you may send me a piece of high-quality* original art related to the game. If you do this, the mafia's next factional kill cannot be prevented by any means, including protective and blocking roles. You do not need to be the one using the factional kill to use your power (but you do need to be alive when the kill is being carried out), and if you send the piece of art during a night phase, the power will apply to the kill during the same night. Your piece of art will be posted in the game thread at the start of the following day.

*You decide what "high-quality" means. Please, do give us a show! But the art must be human-made; AI-generated content is not allowed.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone, which means that you cannot claim to be the one to have drawn the art when it is posted in the thread.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Yoko. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Yakko Sakazaki from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young woman with long black hair in a ponytail

“You tell me if anyone is making you sad and I'll take care of them!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Yakko Sakazaki, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Doctor. Each night, you may send me the name of another living player. That player will be protected from any attempts on their life that night. You may not target the same player two nights in a row.

You do not possess a curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Yakko. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Mio Kurosuzu from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young woman with black hair reaching just past her shoulders

“When I give the signal... Run. Go straight for the entrance. Don't look back, no matter what.”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Mio Kurosuzu, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

A wodden artifact shaped like a rectangular lantern, with copper hair curling around it

You possess the curse stone of the Everburning Lantern. To activate your curse stone, you must post entirely in haiku for an entire day phase. Make your best effort; if you happen to miss a syllable once or twice, you won't be penalized, but any post that's not in haiku will disqualify you from meeting the condition on that day phase.

Once you have met this condition, you may send me the name of one dead player. You will gain this player's powers, including both their role and curse stone if they have one, immediately (if it is night) or at the end of the day (if it is day); your alignment will not change. When you gain the player's powers, if it's night and the player has a night action, you will be able to use that action during the same night. You will also be able to use the power of the player's curse stone once without needing to meet its condition.

You can use this power at any time after you have met the condition, day or night; it does not have to be right after you've posted for an entire day in haiku, if you would like to save it. You can only use this power once.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Mio. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Roles part 2 New
Jun Erio from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young man with short black hair

“I realized that since there are only 120 possible combinations, I was bound to get it eventually!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Jun Erio, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

Copper stone artifact shaped like a reed blowing in the wind with hair curling around it

You possess the curse stone of the One-Sided Reed. To activate your curse stone, you must send me a PM with links to two posts in the game thread:
  1. The first must be a post made by you in which you make up a new word or phrase. In that post you may indicate explicitly that you are making up the word/phrase, but you do not need to.
  2. The second must be a post made by another player, occurring after the first post, in which that player uses the word/phrase that you made up in the first post. They must actually use it themself; quoting another post doesn't count.
After I receive your PM, I will message the player who made the second post, informing them that you are a member of the Town.

You may use this power only during the day phase, and you may use it only once, so choose carefully!

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone. Fine: "isn't my new word so cool, everyone should try it!". Avoid: "if you use my new word something cool will happen!". The line is blurry, so we will not be too strict - just do your best to abide by the spirit of it.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Detective Erio. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Tetsuo Tsutsumi from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned older man with graying hair and glasses

“What the hell did you expect!? She was a baby!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Tetsuo Tsutsumi, you are a member of the Mafia. Your fellow mafia member is @Yoko Fukunaga.

Your role is Flavour Cop. Each night, you may send me the name of one living player, and I will tell you if they have a curse stone. If they have a curse stone, I will tell you what its power is, but I will not tell you its condition. Depending on how closely the condition is tied to the curse stone's power, there may be minor redactions.

A wooden artifact shaped like a taiko drum with two sticks and hair curling around it

You possess the curse stone of the Taiko of Tsugaru. To activate your curse stone, you must get 20 reactions from other players in the game thread in a single day phase. (I will keep track of this based on your reaction score at the start and end of the day.) After meeting this condition, when you use your regular night action, I will also tell you your target's full role and full curse stone information.

Each time you activate your curse stone, the threshold will increase by 20. That is, to use your curse stone the first time, you must get 20 reactions during a single day phase. To use it a second time, you must get 40 reactions during a single day phase, and so on.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Detective Tsutsumi. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Harue Shigima from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned middle-aged woman with long black hair

“I think...I need to kill someone.”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Harue Shigima, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Motion Detector. Each night, you may send me the name of one other living player. At the end of the night phase, I will tell you one of the following:
  • "Motion was detected around your target", if your target either used a night action or was a target of a night action. You will not know which of these is the case.
  • "Motion was not detected around your target", if your target neither used a night action nor was a target of a night action.

A pale stone artifact shaped like a Japanese okame mask, with copper hair curling around it

You possess the curse stone of the Fool's Procession. To activate your curse stone, when using your action, you must send me links to two of your own posts in the game thread from the previous day phase:
  • One post must have at least one quag react from someone besides yourself.
  • The other post must have at least one unquag react from someone besides yourself.
If you successfully meet this condition, I will tell you both of the following:
  • "Your target used a night action" or "Your target did not use a night action", whichever is true.
  • "Your target was the target of [number] night actions besides yours". I will tell you exactly how many.
You may use this power on as many nights as you would like, provided that you meet the conditions each time.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone, meaning that you cannot ask people to quag/unquag react your posts.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Harue. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Richter Kai from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned middle-aged man with shoulder-length curly black hair

“Very good. You shouldn't give up your name so easily, especially not to strangers.”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Richter Kai, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

NocvX9o.png

You possess the curse stone of the Beckoning Light. To activate your curse stone, you must make at least 20 posts in a single day phase containing at least one kaomoji. (You are not limited to the linked website as a kaomoji source; you can get them from wherever you want.) If you meet this condition, your vote at the end of that day will silently count as two votes. Your curse stone will stop working when there are fewer than 5 players alive.

You may use this power on as many days as you would like until your curse stone stops working.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Mr. Inspector. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Ayame Tono from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young woman with long black hair

“What shady reasoning!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Ayame Tono, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Vanilla. Inherently, you do not have any special powers.

A wooden artifact shaped like two pairs of sandals with copper hair curling around them

You possess the curse stone of the Foot-Washing Mansion. Your curse stone is activated by default. Each night when your curse stone is active, you may send me the name of one living player. Should you both survive the night, a private chat will be opened between you and that player at the start of the next day phase. This chat will remain until either of you dies or the game ends. Each private chat you open will be separate.

If you ever mention (@ ping), quote, or say the name of anyone you have a private chat with in the game thread, your curse stone will be deactivated during the following night phase. (Voting for someone is still allowed and does not count as saying their name.) This will not close any of your existing private chats.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone in the game thread or in any of your private chats.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Ayame. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Makoto Ashimiya from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned older man with short black hair

“Hmph. Girls these days sure have weird tastes.”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Makoto Ashimiya, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Night Desperado. Once during the game, during the night phase, you may send me the name of another living player. If that player is not a member of the Town, they will die that night. If that player is a member of the Town, they will not die; you will die instead, and your death in this case cannot be prevented by any means.

Pale stone artifact shaped like a pair of rectangular clappers, with copper hair curling around them

You possess the curse stone of the Haunting Clappers. To activate your curse stone, when using your action, you must send me a link to a post from the previous day phase where the target of your action voted for you. When you activate this power, if the player you targeted is a member of the Town, you will not die.

Reminder that you are not allowed to claim the condition of your curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Mr. Ashimiya. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Mayu Chozawa from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned young woman with short brown hair

“Fuck you! I'm not about to let any of this go the way you want!”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Mayu Chozawa, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Psychic. At the end of each night, I will tell you the name of a random living player's curse stone and what its condition is. Depending on how closely the condition is tied to the curse stone's power, there may be minor redactions. You will not receive information about the same curse stone more than once.

You do not possess a curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Mayu. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.

Natsue Yamamori from Paranormasight, a pale-skinned old woman with graying hair tied back

“...Continue to work hard. That is all.”

...Ah, you are here. Welcome, welcome. I have been eagerly awaiting your arrival.

Natsue Yamamori, you are a member of the Town.

Your role is Fruit-Vending Treestump. Each night, you may send me the name of another living player. At the end of the night, that player will receive a random Mocking Bird sticker. They will be told that they received a sticker, but not who it was from. As long as any player with a Mocking Bird sticker is alive, you may continue posting in the game thread, even if you are dead. (You will still be dead, so you won't be able to vote or give out any more stickers.)

You do not possess a curse stone.

I'd be thrilled to have you continue this story, Madame. After all... that is why you came here, no? I present to you PARANORMASIGHT, a bizarre tale surrounding the curse known as the Rite of Resurrection... A peculiar yarn ensnaring twelve men and women in a fierce fight for their lives as it unravels.
