• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Products of our Environments

I didn't know of that proverb; I probably know of entirely different proverbs to you, all of them in Hebrew.

It's a simple logical law. The law of identity. If I can't count on my aunt to be my aunt because she's my mother's sister, definitions are going to be perversely pointless.

Aunties don't have balls. That is why we call them aunties. Grass is green. A circle is round. Etc, etc. If we can't accept these definitions as normal and axiomatic we might as well be talking an entirely different language.

You clearly don't understand my argument. Auntie does not equal Auntie's consciousness. You know what, fuck, I'm not going through all this, just read it again.
If A =/= B, but A has C, and B has C, A's C is interchangeable with B's C.
Since this needs to be spelled out, A is Auntie's life, body, experience, everything except for conscious awareness, B is Uncle's life, body, experience, everything except for conscious awareness, and C is conscious awareness. A is still A, B is still B, C is still C. It's just that there's no difference between A's C and B's C. That makes them interchangable.

Why the fuck would you make that distinction?

Auntie's got a consciousness, and it's hers. If she were to be an uncle, it would be my uncle's consciousness, not my auntie's, because she's now my uncle.

Good for her. I'm making a point about interchangability. I made that distinction because Music Dragon challenged my claim that I might as well be someone else.
