Open Rise of Team Galactic

((Doesn't Gravity completely shut out and negate attacks like Magnet Rise?))

Tremaine, paralyzed as she was, could do nothing to protect herself from the sudden outburst of electrical energy. The Skarmory pitched forward and hit the ground for the second time. Scar, who had already been weakened by the ice beam, was now at his breaking point; even though he was resistant to electric attacks, he could not stand against a double discharge and expect to pull through after being ice beamed. The Luxray collapsed to the ground right next to Tremaine.

Just before his world went dark, he caught sight of a familiar human approaching the battle scene...
----
After what felt like hours of running, Devack arrived at the battle perhaps two seconds after the Discharge dissipated. One look at the battle told him everything he needed to know.

More of them... I expected as much. If anything I would think that even more would show up, given the crowd that's being drawn. While one would think that this would also give me less of a mess to deal with, the Gravity does... complicate things.

He was interested to see that the girl from the church was also at the battle, Commanding, among other things, a Honchkrow.

"You there," he said to a boy commanding an Infernape and a Jolteon, "Which of these scum was responsible for harming my Luxray and Skarmory?"

Whichever person it was, I will ensure that their deaths are carried out slowly and painfully... Kaa and Frollo will see to that.

The paralysed boy on the ground would chuckle, had it not been for his frozen muscles. Slowly and painfully, he opened his mouth and said, "The woman with the Jolteons did it. Well, I'm kinda responsible; I'll explain later. Focus on taking down that woman first."

Feeling his neck muscles finally respond, he turned his head a little more to see the girl from the church, standing beside her Glaceon.

"Oh, hello there. I believe we've met?"

EDIT: Jolteon -> Glaceon. Wow I'm an idiot

That woman with the Jolteons, eh? Okay then, I'll make sure she suffers first. I'll deal with that boy afterwards, once I've figured out his role in all of this...

The first thing he did was recall Tremaine and Scar into their pokeballs. Though Scar had disobeyed a standing order by following Tremaine, the two would likely be killed in the crossfire that was about to ensue.

"Now then, girl, I will show what happens to those who ally themselves against justice..."

He looked at Frollo and nodded. The Absol attacked, swinging its head forward and creating a scythe-shaped blast of dark energy that sped toward the girl with the two Jolteons. While in normal gravity, the Night Slash contained enough power to slice a Scizor's arms off. Even with increased gravity, the attack would retain most of its strength; certainly enough to inflict serious, even lethal damage to a human.

Sterling reached out and ran her hand over the cool metal of Saiph's skin. She knew from Saiph's lack of injury that it had summoned a protect shield, but creating another one too quickly was riskier. For this reason she paused a bit, looking out to see Rigel dodge and Mintaka fail to react. But of course that would happen: Mintaka was not a fighter and Rigel was special.

It was good, anyway. Fire in this little grove of trees... even the discharge, which shattered several branches and might have left scorch marks, was risky enough. The infernape's fire might be hot enough to trap Sterling in an inferno.

But that wasn't going to happen. "Discharge," she said again. That the opponent had a jolteon with volt absorb didn't matter, since it was not actually getting healed. The human so eager to set another enemy on her, however, and the apparent trainer of the pokemon that started this mess in the first place, were major bonuses as targets. But the infernape - glowing red with its internal power as it was - was now too dangerous to let remain. It would faint now, though, she guessed, since two discharges were enough to activate its ability.

Rigel started sparking right away, but Mintaka was on the ground, fur scorched and body trembling. Its entire side from shoulder to hind legs was severely burnt.

There was a flash, but it was too far to the side to be one of hers - a released pokemon. She quietly scoffed at the man's words, but his actions were a bit more serious - she saw the dark energy forming around the absol's blade. She curled into a smaller ball behind Saiph. She felt the thrum of energy just before her skin and saw a faint green sheen - protect, but she didn't think Saiph had noticed the absol.

The blade of darkness was consumed by a flash of electric energy; it was only after the light faded that she saw a thick, deep gouge taken out of an unfortunate tree trunk. The blade was gone, probably having impacted against the shield - it was hard to tell. Sterling cursed. This was getting out of hand. She should have brought a gun.

Mintaka, feeling a lot better but still sporting a moderate burn on its side, also began sparking. It stood up and discharged its own blast of electricity. It was breathing a bit harder now - this wasn't how it usually acted.

Both jolteon remained a bit puzzled when they felt themselves becoming even lighter than before, nearly weightless but not quite. The rest also felt gravity weakening, but not yet reset.

Sterling rubbed Saiph's back. "That took a lot out of you, didn't it? Rest a while, and guard the grunt. Sit on him if he tries to leave."

She stood up, tossing two pokeballs onto the ground. Three shapes emerged, a porygon-z with a separate head and body, and a much blockier porygon. But the porygon looked different somehow, its shape subtly streamlined.

"Signal beam. 'Tak, engage the jolteon. 'Lam, neutralise the absol."

She moved, made for a half-circle - and saw the girl and her glaceon. Surprise flitted over her expression and her hand went for her last unused pokeball. "So we meet again."

The girl hissed as she watched the battle rage on, her mouth bent into a very angry frown. She had commanded a Protect from Jack just in time to protect them both from the wash of electricity, but she was still very annoyed. The male who owned the Luxray was the focus of her attention, her steely blue eyes locked right on him. When he commanded his Absol to attack the Grunt and the other girl, she sighed and pointed towards the Absol.

"Jack! I didn't want to do this, but use Ice Shard! As many times as you can. Aim for the Key Points!" She called, and the Glaceon was already attacking before she finished the call.

The ice-type flash froze the air around him, creating four large shards of ice with needle-sharp tips, and, with a howling cry, launched them at blinding speed towards the Absol. If the racing blades of ice hit true, they would lodge into the dark-type's flank, shoulder, neck, and foreleg. While Jack was busy, the girl released a Clefable to her side, and whispered into his ear, then turned back to her Glaceon.

"Now Roar, try and ward them off! I don't want any casualties!"

Jack responded right away, taking a deep breath and letting out a bellow of sound that would send most running for the hills. The girl hoped that it was enough to drive off the attacking parties, and that the Grunt and his keeper were smart enough to get out of the damn way of the attack.

It was then she noticed Eagun. She stared over at him, frown still plastered across her face. The Clefable tossed up a Protect bubble right as he saw the Discharge coming at them, mostly unnoticed by the girl.

"What do you want." She snapped.

Looking away from the boy on the ground, she swept her eyes over the area around her, and her gaze fell on Sterling, and she smiled.

"Meet again indeed. It's been a while, hasn't it?" She purred, frown twisting into a smile.

ETA: Okay that should work. Hnnn. *flails* this post kinda sucks

Devack could feel the heavy Gravity beginning to fade mere moments before another Discharge was unleashed, this time with Devack and Frollo in the attack's range.

Devack closed his eyes and shielded his face with one of his arms, but that did not stop the blast of electricity from striking him and knocking him to the ground. Frollo also took the hit, and was sent flying back, landing near Devack.

The Absol looked up just in time to see a signal beam headed straight for him. He started moving backward, but the beam struck him before he could dodge it entirely. For the second time, he was sent flying back, but somehow managed to find the strength to get back up and calmly walk back to Devack

Devack, meanwhile, was hurting everywhere. Oh, he could move, to be sure - the attack had not paralyzed him. But it hurt even when he flexed his fingers. It had been some time since one of his targets had put up such a strong fight.

It was then that the girl with a Honchkrow attacked with the Glaceon she apparently owned, sending fragments of ice straight at Frollo. The Absol sidestepped the one heading for his flank, and ducked so that the neck-aiming one bounced harmlessly off his blade instead, but he could not dodge the ones headed for his foreleg and shoulder. The Absol was knocked back for the third time, and just when he managed to get up - not easy, considering there were ice fragments in his body, the roar from the Glaceon sent him limping until he was behind Devack - but not in Devack's Shadow.

Devack stared calmly at the Glaceon as it roared, not intimidated - he could run, but he was still hurting badly from the Discharge - but certainly jarred. This was quickly getting out of hand. He needed a plan, and he needed one fast.

My best chance now is to buy time, he thought, trying to slowly reach for the pokeball containing Kaa, even though the pain was close to unbearable, I need to find out exactly what that girl's plan is

"You... certainly are an entertaining... prey," he said, "and you, with the Honchkrow, are certainly the most interesting. You defend that Grunt and the other girl - who I suspect is also affiliated with Team Galactic - yet earlier, you attacked the Grunt without any remorse. Tell me, whose side are you really on?"

Sterling flinched at the roar but didn't run. Nor did Rigel, who merely gave Jack a long stare.

Fear was not part of Alnitak or Alnilam's programming, but Alnilam found it had an aversion to getting too close to the glaceon. Of course, it would not have wanted to approach the glaceon either way. Saiph couldn't easily move in its current state. Mintaka, however, dashed behind Sterling's legs, each bound higher and longer than it was used to, until it was floating behind Sterling's back. Its spikes were melting and its body became pinker, until it completely lost its shape. It flailed its appendages uselessly. Its back showed moderate burns.

Rigel floated with more grace, completely unsurprised. Alnitak and Alnilam floated higher and moved toward their enemies.

"Meet again indeed," the glaceon girl said with a smile. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"

"Far too long." Sterling half-smirked. "I had hoped there would be fewer distractions the next time we met, but we can't have everything."

She put on her sunglasses, now that her eyes wouldn't have even the slight protection of an energy shield. She was still mostly behind a tree, as much as she'd like to face the glaceon girl properly. It was necessary with what she expected to happen next.

"Role play Rigel, Alnies. The rest of you are looking at a triple-discharge in the near future if you don't get out now. Maybe four," Sterling added, glancing at Mintaka, who had either flipped upside down or reoriented its face. "Burns, a heart attack, permanent nerve and heart damage... you don't have to risk it. Run. It would be best if no one died here."

She paused and considered the paralysis factor.

"Raise your... loudly hum if you'd rather be gone but can't. Or speak if possible. You'll be psychic'd out of range."

She didn't mention that this would mean a fairly painful throw, since it was irrelevant - and less dangerous than the amount of electricity that would soon be released.

Rigel and Saiph both heard a loud hum. Rigel glanced at Huygens, and with effort, Saiph turned around to look at the grunt. He promptly shut up. Saiph turned around again to the battle.

Devack ran through a few possibilities in his head, and even as he finally managed to grab Kaa's pokeball, he realized that the situation was hopeless.

If I was at the highest possible throwing speed for me - which I'm not at right now - by the time Kaa would have gotten in range of the trainers to use a lethal Poison Fang, the triple Discharge would be unleashed. Kaa would go down, and Frollo and I wouldn't look too good either.

So be it; I will simply not obtain the reasons I desire.

"Very well," he snarled, picking himself up, and ignoring the intense pain as he did so. Recalling Frollo, he slowly began to walk to the pokemon center.

He had taken about three steps when he turned around and said: "But this isn't over. You will face justice, and you will suffer for your deeds. I look forward to that day..."

And with that, he continued to walk away.

((I would like to call attention to the second profile I made in the OOC thread, FMC. You might have noticed it already; you might not have. I'm just making sure that you know about it now))

Eagun's mind ran with options on what he could do. Even with his intellect, we could see no ways out, and regretfully called his Salamence back out, and told her to carry him away.

The dragon complied, and as he flew off, Eagun suddenly realized he had no actual reason to be hunting down this evil organisation.

"Why am I bothering?" Somehow, that question's answer mystified him to no end.

"Sure. But not at your hands," Sterling said. She watched him leave; obviously the discharges had caused him some pain, more than the other trainer flying off (... on a paralysed salamence?), and perhaps that was why he was leaving. Good, then.

The main threats being gone, Sterling discarded the protection of the trees. She absentmindedly rolled Bellatrix's pokeball between her fingers. Rigel touched down on the ground again, while Mintaka fell with a plop.

"Now that they're out of the way," Sterling said, walking toward the other girl, "we have a lot to catch up on."

((Okay, FMC just gave me permission to use my second character, so now I can get back on track.))

As Devack walked to the pokemon center, the man was unaware that he was being watched by another human, one who stood on top of one of the city's many buildings.

"There he is," Sherry Tredwell snarled, "Devack Kessler. How long I've searched for you..."

Sherry had been watching Devack from the moment he had reached the church. Since then, she'd watched the battle unfold between him, another trainer, and several of what she suspected were members of Team Galactic. Throughout the battle, she'd paid careful attention to Devack's actions, and when she could hear him, his words.

"Justice?" she had said under her breath when he mentioned just that, "You call murder justice? When you killed my brother, did you say that you were doing it in the name of justice?"

Now, in the aftermath of the battle she knew that Devack was in a weak position. Three of his pokemon were either weakened or knocked out entirely, and the only one of his (that she knew of) that hadn't appeared yet - his Arbok - wouldn't stand a chance against Ray, Kala, or Megara.

There was, however, one small problem: people were still panicked after the battle. When the Discharges had been unleashed, Sherry knew that many civilians had been caught in the crossfire (though she had used Megara to defend herself from any shocks that had reached her position.) Tensions were likely to be very high, and if she were to openly attack Devack, it would cause even more panic. Furthermore, there would be plenty of witnesses to remember who she was, and she would become a marked woman.

And that was if Devack was given no time to respond, and Sherry guessed that even though he'd been struck by Discharge, the man still had some fight in him; just not the kind for a fight involving a triple Discharge.

I will have to be patient, she decided, I will strike when there are as few witnesses as possible. I've waited this long to exact my revenge; a little longer will have to do.

After the crossfire was over, Simon looked up from the small hole he was digging. Digging always soothed his nerves, although a lot of Trainers looked at him funny for it. He supposed he could go back to the city now. But he might want protection...

Plucking a Great Ball from his belt, he tapped it and tossed it in the general direction of the town. A lanky Alakazam yawned and scratched its mustache, fixing its trainer with a quizzical look.

Devack calmly entered the pokemon center, expression as hard as stone. Without a word, he handed three of his pokeballs to the attendant, who placed them onto the restoration machine.

The beauty of pokemon centers, he thought Soon, my three will be ready for battle again, but I don't think I'll go after the Galactics yet... though chances are they would be gone anyway by now...

When the healing was finished, he calmly took back the three pokeballs, at which point he sent Frollo back out.

I guess my best bet would be to return to the church, he thought, Sooner or later, another will show up... and this time, I'll be sure to strike first.

It was at this point that he exited the pokemon center, and was unaware that he was being observed yet again.
----
Sherry, keeping an alert watch on the pokemon center, immediately saw Devack exit the building.

Of course he went there first. He can't be expected to do anything useful with just that Arbok, now can he?

Seeing that he was making his way toward the church, Sherry signaled for Victor to follow him. It was only after the Gallade had started running toward the edge of the building that Sherry realized that she had forgotten to be specific on how Victor should follow him, and with the prospect of killing her brother's killer at hand, Sherry couldn't blame the Gallade for doing something reckless - she herself was tempted to call the man out with some kind of dramatic entrance.

Now it seemed that she was going to have to do that, as Victor jumped down to the street, landing with a loud thunk.

Devack reacted instantly, whirling around and having his Absol launch a Night Slash at Victor. The Gallade jumped out of the way, causing the attack to go straight into a building.

"Who ever is controlling this Gallade, show yourself!" Devack called out, "Or else I will unleash unimaginable horrors onto this pokemon!"

So be it, she thought, if the time has come earlier and more loudly than I would want, then so be it. I know that thanks to Victor, conflict is now unavoidable.

"Devack Kessler," she said, coldly and calmly "the time has come."

With this, she sent out Kala, who immediately teleported her to the street.

For a moment, she could tell that Devack was confused. "Time... for what?' he said at last.

"Time for you to face your own justice," she said, cold yet again. "Victor..."

The Gallade nodded, and shot forward with a Close Combat attack, intending to strike Devack quickly.

((Now the pokemon center sequence is manga based, where they can be either anime-like or game-like... just like the rest of the manga, really.

Even with that said, I'm pretty sure that I made this a failpost anyway))
