Fluffy-noodle, grimacing at his opponent, bares his teeth in a menacing grin. Despite his wounds he still feels like the superior Pokémon; really, how could you ever hope to best a fossil that’s been around since forever? The skarmory’s crazy, that’s for sure.
His thoughts are brought to a screeching halt as something sharp hits him on the back. He spins around, whacking whatever it was with his tail and sending it sprawling across the ground, but his back still aches. It appears to be – a mankey? Fluffy-noodle curses under his breath.
Damn monkeys. He turns to look back at the skarmory as the mankey picks itself up and jumps back into the foliage.
Annoyed, the aerodactyl’s chest begins to heat up and small tongues of fire can be seen between his razor-sharp teeth. He opens his mouth to release a scalding hot burst of flames in his opponents’ direction, the bright sunshine increasing the strength of the already hot attack. The skarmory, suitably frightened, is too slow to dodge. The fire envelopes the armoured bird for several moments before dying out, leaving a somewhat scorched Pokémon to stare at his attacker. Luckily, he’s not burned, but that’s only a small consolation.
Flapping his metallic wings slowly to shake off the ash, Steelbird glares at the hated aerodactyl. Though he’s in much pain, it isn’t nearly enough to stop him from exacting his revenge. He runs at maximum speed towards the fossil Pokémon, his wings shining even brighter in the bright sunlight, and swerves sideways just inches before Fluffy-noodle – slashing the aerodactyl’s across the chest with his sharp, metallic wing. The aerodactyl screeches in pain as Steelbird quickly jumps backwards, moving away from his opponent.
Steelbird jumps several feet, creating a suitable distance, before covering himself with his wings. He’s more hurt than tired at the moment, and he agrees with his trainers’ command. Closing his eyes, he focuses and creates a semi-transparent barrier around him. It’s only occasionally visible, reflecting in the bright sunlight.
Fluffy-noodle, for one, doesn’t seem to care about his opponents’ endeavor. He glances around for any mankey and, apparently satisfied, allows his eyes to close halfway. He too isn’t so tired, but a break is always appreciated. He can feel his muscles relaxing, and his mind calming down; he’d gotten so worked up so quickly, he hadn’t quite realized.
His break was short-lived, however. As the skarmory’s protection faltered and broke, the aerodactyl prepared another attack. His menacing grin forewarned the devastating nature the flamethrower would have; and indeed, as the flames broke loose from the aerodactyl’s jaws and sprawled across the skarmory, Steelbird could feel himself nearing breaking point. The constant assaults were getting to him, and fast.
The fire died down fast, even with the sun aiding it, leaving a scorched skarmory in its place. Steelbird panted from heat and exhaustion; clearly, he didn’t have much left in him. But he’d fight till the very end.
He glanced around quickly before he raised his wings and began to flap them powerfully. Fluffy-noodle dug his claws into the marshy undergrowth as the powerful gust pushed him backwards; it seemed more powerful than the skarmory’s small wings should manage. And as he continued to flap, sticky, gewy mud began to lift from the floor and fly through the air, drying slowly in the powerful sun. Startled, Steelbird hesitated; he was unsure if this was what his trainer had in mind. But he quickly continued, flapping more powerfully and coaxing more mud from the jungle floor. Soon it was a veritable storm of mud, so thick it was nearly impossible to see through. Though Steelbird didn’t really appreciate it, Fluffy-noodle felt rather relieved as the mud landed on his rocky exterior, soothing his wounds.
