Open State of Bliss

Grabbing some salt and pepper, Arthur goes over to the cooler, and grabs some butter, placing it next to Shana.

"Apparently you cook the leeks in this a bit, then just pop it in the water. Here's some salt." Standing back, a thought comes to Arthur, though he doesn't know if he'd get hit for it or not. Grinning, he takes an eggplant and hollows it, dividing the skin in a shape that would look like it would fit Shana's head pretty well.

Shana nods and takes the butter. She looks at the ingredients before her and tilts her head as Arthur's words buzz in her mind. She lets out a sigh and scrtaches te back of her head before doing as she was told by cooking the leeks with a bit of butter. She grabs a sauce pan and begins to do so.

"When you say cook. You mean you cook this in one pot before switching it to another one with water? I'm not that positive on what I'm to do with this dish"

She shrugs, placing her hands on her hips.

"what to do...what to do..."

Arthur walks over, placing the makeshift hat on Shana's head as he leans against the counter. "No need to think so much, kiddo. Just cook the leeks in the butter in the pot, then add the water. Keep it simple, eggplant head."

He says all this comically, giving Shana a wink and trying to contain his own laughter. He always did enjoy teasing the good kids.

Shana freezes when the veggie was placed on her head.

"...you did not just do that...."

She turns her head and looks at him, a unreadable emotion on her face. She remains silent and stares at him.

Slap

She smiles as she watches the slice of butter she cut from the block slowly melt on his face. Se licks his fingers and goes back to cooking the leeks.

"Understood. I'll do just that, Butter-Face."

"Ah, you got me." Arthur says, acting perfectly calm. In an instant, he grabs a slice of leek and drops it down the back of Shana's shirt, giving her a wily grin.

"Interesting place to hide vegetables, I suppose."

Shana lets out a slight squeak when he slipped the cold leek down her shirt. She turns to him, grabing a full leek stalk and holds it up like a sword.

"Oh, that's it! This means war, Engarde!"

He whacks him on the head once then steps back a bit in case to retaliation.

"Ohohoho... you want to go against a teacher, who knows how to use rulers pretty damn well?"

Grabbing two leek stalks, he twirls them with a surprising amount of skill, and goes for a cross-swipe on Shana's forehead, but ends up slipping on the butter, and the leeks end up aiming towards Shana's chest.

Vapor padded along the halls, her long tail trailing behind her. She had wandered away from Shana and Arthur, and was staring dejectedly at the floor as she walked. How could she have frozen up like that? She had let down everyone, and who knows what the nightmare could do to them now that she had brought it on. She was a worthless Pilot.

The Vaporeon found a corner and coiled up in it, her tail curled under her. She had tears in her eyes.

Shana tries to take a step back and block, but slipped on a piece of leek that was on the floor. She reaches out to stop her fall by grabbing something.

Unfortunately. That something was Arthur.

Shana only had enough time to think of one thought before falling to the floor.

That is just F@#*ing great.

Arthur reaches down and grabs Shana, gripping the counter to keep himself from going down as well.

"Seriously Sophia, you need to-" Arthur cuts off halfway, an odd look on his face as he pulls Shana back up. After a pause, he backs away, grabs a towel and starts cleaning the butter and the leeks, biting his lip and keeping his eyes firmly aimed at the floor, so Shana couldn't see the wetness in his eyes.

Shana falls silent when Arthur stopped her fall and started to clean the mess on the floor. She watches him as he hunches over the mess, seeming to be hiding something from her. She takes a towel and kneels next to him to help clean the mess.

"I'm sorry for the mess, Chief. I'll get this done for you..."

She than places a hand on his, givig it a light squeeze before returning to the task at hand. She brushes a piece of her hair from her face, only to have it fall in front of her face again.

Stupid hair. Wish I wore my hat...

With a massive effort, Arthur shakes his head slowly and tries to speak in a steady voice. "It's alright Shana, I just have to deal with my losses and move on..."

Mastering the wetness in his eyes, he looks up at Shana struggling with her hair, then looks down again, more memories starting to flood into his brain in a rush of sadness and grief.

"Ah!" Sophia wailed, dropping a knife and a pot at the same time. Arthur instantly lunged for the knife, grabbing it before it could cut his daughter, but not being able to grab the pot, and hearing the dull thud. Looking up in alarm, Arthur went into concerned dad mode.

"Sophia, are you alright? Are you hurt? Let me see it-" Arthur says, almost all at once, as Sophia waves him away.

"Sorry, it's just my hair..." she said, grabbing the pot, putting it back on the stove, and rubbing her foot. Arthur looked up and gave a chuckle. Sophia's hair had a tendency to fall down over her eyes, although Arthur thought it made her look cute.

"I think it looks nice," he said with a smile.

"So does James," she sighed. "I'm still tying it to keep out of the way."

"Except when your alone with him?" Arthur joked.

"Dad!"

Paul wrapped his arms around the Dragonair like earlier, a simple matter, it seemed, and he let the Dragonair's neck lay across from one of his shoulders to the other. At least it was simple until he tried to stand up.... as she was still mostly on the ground until then. When he tried to stand and she started to coil herself around his waist was when Paul realized just how just how heavy the large serpent actually was... The Dragonair herself was almost as big around as he was! And she had to wrap around his thin body three times just to keep her tail off the ground! Paul felt like he was carrying one of those marching instruments, what did they call it, a sousaphone? He struggled just to get to his feet, groaning,

"Geeze, you weigh a ton, Karae... I... I think I have you... Wooah.."

Paul stumbled when he tried to take a step forward toward the door. It was so awkward... if he bent forward just a bit, her weight tried to make him fall forward, which is just what happened. Paul grabbed onto the doorhandle just to keep himself from falling on top of Karae, and his legs slid out from under him, falling into a kneeling position. He grimaced a bit as a sudden shock of pain from his knees rushed through his body, but fortunately it didn't last.

"Okay... let me try this again... I think I got it this time..."

I have to do this, he thought. I have to show her I'll do anything for her, even at my own expense. Paul held onto the handle as he stood back up, and tried to figure out what angle he had to stand just to keep from falling over again, before letting go.

"Okay... there.. let's go. I hope mister Arthur isn't mad this took so long..."

Paul took one step back, pulling the door open with him, then slowly, carefully began to walk down the hall, toward the kitchen and cafeteria area, eventually starting to get the hang of it. As he began to settle into a rhythm, Paul began to notice some other things... He could feel his own heartbeat vibrating, reflected back from her coils, as well as, to a lesser extent, hers too. This is actually kind of nice... he thought as he continued to approach the kitchen.

(wow, I wrote all that? o.o)

Karae felt like bashing her head into a wall for her stupidity. Of course he couldn't lift her - and what if he strained a muscle doing this? It would be her fault for letting him lift her... He was doing a somewhat good job of it, considering that he had to deal with her bulky length as well. But still, he would never make it to the kitchen without doing some sort of harm to himself, and she couldn't allow that. "Really, I can float. It's fine. You do not need to carry me."

Not that the Dragonair expected him to listen, but this was awkward for her too, and she really didn't want him to fall over because of her. Being carried was a luxury she didn't require. Still, the warmth of his body was somewhat comforting, and she could feel his heartbeat. How...odd. It felt good, but... strange. She had never been this close to anyone for so long since her parents had left.

As Paul staggered to the door, she cheated a bit, lifting her head and straining forward. Once she was certain she could reach the door handle, she carefully grabbed it in her mouth and pulled back, opening the door so he wouldn't have to struggle to open it. If he wouldn't put her down, she could at least do this. Hopefully Arthur and the other Anchor wouldn't think she was being weak, to be carried like this...

Looking over at Paul and Karae entering the room, he stood up, having cleaned the mess on the floor, and begins walking out the door.

"Shana will tell you guys what you need to do..." he said, before walking out and walking down some random corridors. He didn't know what to say, and he was NOT going to cry, to show weakness in front of the kids he was supposed to lead.

He walked agitatedly, until he saw Vapor in a corner.

"Vapor...?"

Marik rolled out of bed and pulled on his shirt, yawning and trying to push his hair down into a less insane-looking shape. Failing miserably, Marik shoveled down a handful of cookies and headed into the main area.

Marik spotted his 'partner' and walked up to the jolteon, presenting himself, looking slighlty sheepish.

((I posted yesterday, but the page got messed up, so it didn't go through.))

"Well, that Deoxys could of killed us with Charge Beam. Be glad I helped for the good of all the pilots." Godot said, "Whether the opponent is weak or strong, a victory is still a victory."

"I don't really see many enemies, except for the retreating Clefable." Godot mumbled, "Trying to lure us into a false sense of security, eh?"

"Dammit, Godot," Lindsay yelled into the mic, "I said to freaking chase down the clefable! If there was a point to destroying a scout, you're undoing that by letting the clefable go! Do you want it to report your presence to the stronger Aliens? Shit, just - chase after it and use psychic to pull it back. Won't be as effective and it might even fail since you're so weak and your mind is so slow - but it's the only way you'll reach it by now. Then beat it to death with your ice punch."

Lindsay seethed. Haunter were relatively fast compared to clefable, but now the clefable had too great a distance advantage to easily catch up without having to fear an ambush or something. Hell, the clefable might've already alerted someone - it was almost out of sight.

"Go!"

(insert phailpost)

Paul entered into the kitchen just as Mr. Arthur seemed to be leaving. He heard his orders, and nodded. "All right." Mr. Arthur didn't seem to have anything to say about the Dragonair, even though Paul betted that he was the one to send her to see him, and was now already wrapped around him. After entering, Paul walked over to a counter and stood over it to let the Dragonair off of him. He looked at the other human, who was busy cleaning something. "Shana, was it? So, what were you working on cooking then?"

The hand on the mecha flew towards the Clefable. Ice started to form on the robotic hand. It let out a hard punch.

"My hands on this can move far away and still work." he explained, smirking a bit, "I imagined this mecha, after all."
