• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

The Shifting Shack

In a desolate, rock-barren wasteland, a small building can be found near a large series of cracks in the ground. The Shifting Shack is located on top of a Pokemon-rich underground chasm, the only entrances being the small crevices in the hard, dry earth. The area is an earthquake-prone spot, where the plates near the earth’s crust are constantly moving. Inside the Shack is the owner, considered by some to mad to build his home over such an unstable area, but nonetheless stop by to rent a harness and try their luck at snagging one of the Pokemon down in the abyss. There are consistently 3-5 entrances to the chasm, and due to the shifting plates, the inside of the chasm is almost always changing.

Visitors can rent a harness for a mere $3, and then try their luck by leaping down any of the available passageways. The odds of landing on a ledge differ from hole to hole, and visitors will be pulled back up if any signs of distress are detected for safety reasons. If and once you land, you can catch the Pokemon found, or opt to jump even further down the abyss. The further you get, the rarer the Pokemon, but the less likely there is to be a ledge.

To give a try, simply post that you would like to rent a harness, which hole you want to jump down, and wait to find a ledge. Or possibly not. Further instructions will be given as needed.

You land neatly on a skinny pathway. A Diglett stands directly in front of you.

Do you catch it, or do you jump again?

Blastoise-
You practically miss the ledge, just barely grabbing the edge. After pulling yourself up, you realize a Numel is staring you right in the face.

Is this a new friend beside you, or is the darkness below?

Blaziking-
You have a bit more difficulty sticking this landing, but after sliding into a wall, you notice that there's a Baltoy glaring at you from the shadows.

How about this one? Although gravity sure is tempting...

Blaziking-
You take yet another leap of faith into the depths. The ground is approaching fast... at least it should be. Unfortunately, there is not floor to speak of this time. Your screams alert the Shack owner up top, and he reels you in. Better luck next time.

Blastoise-
The ledge you've just landed on is extremely narrow; you had to skid along the wall to make sure you actually landed on it. A Baltoy is spinning nervously next to you, most likely alarmed by your arrival

Do you take this little one, or is the prospect of jumping off a cliff just too appealing?

Blastoise-
It's a bit difficult to see as you find your self on another ledge. Soon, the reason becomes apparent. You have been met by not one, but two Pokemon! A Koffing is to your left spouting toxic gas, while the Gastly on your right is floating to and fro leaving a softly glowing haze behind him.

This is quite the rare occasion. Do you choose the Koffing, the Gastly, or impending doom?

Blastoise-
You're practically clawing your way down at this point, with walls going straight up on either side. Your footing isn't so sure, but you've felt your way to a fairly wide platform. You've been pretty lucky thus far, as you can barely see the light anymore. A single beam of light is striking the ground, providing a neat little spotlight for the Pokemon residing at this level. A faint flapping sound and soft cawing tell you you've found a Murkrow.

The bird awaits, but so does the beckoning darkness...

Murkrow
He's yours!

With a quick tug on the rope you're harnessed to, the Shack owner pulls you back up in a jiffy. What an experience!

Blaziking-
The land was no problem, it was only a couple of feet down. Scuttling around your feet is a eight-legged Pokemon just waiting to be caught.

Will you accept the Spinerak you have found, or is down your favorite direction right now?

Blaziking-
The ledge you just landed on seems entirely too unstable, but for the sake of Pokemon, you press forward. You hadn't gone far before a whispy shape started floating around you head. A Shuppet was gleefully flying to and fro, which was somewhat distracting to your trying to stay alive efforts.

Do you catch the little fellow, or does the deep compel you further?
