• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Undeniable PROOF that I am ABSOLUTELY not a "Butterfree" at spriting!

Just a hint: JPGs make sprites look horrible. Save them as PNGs, it's a low filesize and the sprites don't look like they've just been through the washing machine.

Be patient. Requests will come to you eventually, but requesters can often be turned off by your aggravatedness. :/

You're a beginning spriter. xD Don't be so rough on yourself/others. But you are making some simple mistakes, mistakes which you can correct with ease and I'm surprised no one's pointed out to you yet.

1. Jpeg jepg jpeg. Why? D: Can your computer save as .PNG? If so, do it. Once you've finished your sprite and go to "save as..." select ".PNG" from the drop-down box. Jpeg obscures your sprites and makes them impossible to edit again.
2. Blank white space. Your images are 350x350 pixels or so, when they really only need to be 80x80. You may make your canvas as big as you like, but once you're finished, drag the box so that there's only a small box around your sprite.
3. Zoom in to as big as you can go. 6x at the very least; I use 8x or 10x usually (10x is the hidden one; click the black bar underneath "8x zoom" and it'll go HUGE. It's kind of hard to find though. This allows you to see finer details.
4. Use custom colors. You're using Paint defaults, which are an eyesore. You know how to make custom colors, don't you?
5. Shade. You need to add shading; otherwise it looks incomplete. Make sure you recolor each part of the Pokemon, too. Don't leave colors of the base sprite in the outline or the shadows, either.
And lastly,
6. Keep it simple. A common mistake newbies make is trying to do too much for them and then getting mad when it doesn't turn out how they picture it. Spriting takes a while to get it good, just like any form of art. You can't rush it. Digimon are immensely complicated, compared to relatively simple Pokemon. That's why they need massive sprites in their games. So don't do Megas right off the bat-- start with In-trainings, and then work your way up.

So I have a request, and try to follow all my advice I gave you when you make it. I'd like Chimchar as, uh, Coronamon, was it? And take your time.
