• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Vanity Publishing

Is it called vanity publishing? Maybe it's called vanity publishing.

I don't have anything in particular I want just now, but it would be nice to be able to own a copy of my writing or drawings. I just want to send the format to some company, and they'll put it in a pretty book and mail it to me. Just one copy, just for me, and then I want them to delete the files and not think about it anymore.

I know you can do that. A student in one of my classes brought one her parents did for her for show-and-tell a lot of years ago, and I own a copy of some of my drawings coupled with a short story the person who gave me the book wrote.

I just don't know how.

I've looked for one, and I can't find something meant for just making one book. Unfortunately I can no longer ask the person who gave me the one I have.

Does anyone know where to go for this?

I came to comment on how terrible the self-publishing racket is, but in your case - publishing just one book - there are good alternatives. Lulu is probably the most well-known, and I've heard good things about CreateSpace too. There are some kiddie-type options, mostly for parents that want their ~baby~'s junk all shined up, like this and this. Luck!

Perhaps in addition to looking at those links, you could look at the book that you already have; is there a publisher's name somewhere on it? If so you could look them up too.
