Closed X: The step into other worlds

"Hmph. I've killed worse than you." the silver-haired woman muttered, "I have a job to do..."

".....Rin....." Sephii muttered.

"I've been sent to...exterminate you and your little friends." she laughed.

"Wh-" Sephii stammered.

"If you're wondering who sent out that request, it's obvious." Rin said, smirking, "Those little teachers down at the school you went to...in our time."

Rin pointed her sword at Carmina.

"You may leave now." she said, a smirk on her face.
 
"That's it, I can feel it now..." Darkness growled. She rose from her chair and dashed outside, morphing into a dragon and taking off after Sephii.

"Yeah right, like I'm really scared of you." Carmina barked, "Stay away, assassin dog. I could easily take you out right now."
At that moment, Darkness flew overhead, spying the woman and overhearing them.
So they have to stay with us if they were sent to be killed... I'd better report to Zora when I get back. And who's that... Carmina?! With that, she dove down at Rin, slashing like mad with her claws. And anyone who had fought her in this form knew just how deadly they were.
She grinned at Carmina, who smirked as she seemed to channel energy into the orb on her staff.
"Good to see you again, cousin. Care to help me in picking off this nuisance?" she pointed at Rin.
 
Rin was pinned down.

"Aw...look, Sephii's made friends with a little band of freaks." she taunted.

She awkwardly picked up something from her belt and threw it down. A smoke bomb.
 
"I would enjoy it greatly." Darkness snarked, morphing back into a human just as Rin threw the smoke bomb. She coughed a bit as Carmina twirled the staff to clear the smoke.
"A stubborn one..." Carmina growled, "Not nearly as stubborn as... her, though..."
 
When Darkness left, both Opal and Rhythm were tempted to follow. They both restrained it, however. Opal glanced over at Jesse with a murderous look in her eyes.
"You do something like that again, I swear I'll..." She trailed off. "Just don't do it again."
 
"Come on, let's go back." Darkness muttered, starting on the trail back, "You too, Carmina. What brings you here anyway?"
"Wedding." Carmina answered simply, "Didn't know I'd get into some fights too." she grinned.
"...Right." Darkness blinked, "Well, let's go anyway. I have to report what I heard."

Jesse noidded eagerly.
"Yes miss, I'll never do it again, I promise!"
 
"Next time, just ask." Opal muttered, "It's polite." She waved him off, then went back and sat down.
"Where'd Darkness and Sephii get to anyways?"
 
"Yes ma'am." With that, Jesse trotted down the hallway and into his room.
"Ah, knowing Darkness she went to see where Sep-aha. There they are now." Zora pointed out the window to the returning Darkness, and then blinked when she saw the girl that was with her as they walked in the door.
"Cousin Carmina?"
Carmina smiled.
"Been a while, Zora. Congrats."
"Thanks. Darkness, where did yo-"
"There's an assassin after them. Sent by people from wherever they came from."
"...What?"
Darkness repeated it in her ear. Zora processed this a minute before speaking again.
"...I see. Well they're safe here at any rate."
 
Rhythm listened intently, but said nothing. When Sephii said that name, he turned his head and stared questioningly at her. Opal was completely oblivious, only struck by the sight of Carmina.
"How did you NOT freeze in that?"
 
"Is that the name then... And she's your sister..." Zora muttered, sighing before glancing at Rhythm then back to her. "Well go and sit, let your nerves rest. Darkness, maybe you can go find Kirita and explain the situation to her as well."
"Will do." with that, Darkness strided toward the hallway while Zora again turned to Sephii.
"Don't worry, we won't let anything happen to you."
Carmina turned to Opal.
"Because this cape is waaaaaarm." she grinned again, "Name's Carmina. Pleasure to meet you."
 
Rhythm's wing twitched with nervousness. Raiquen sat down casually, glancing at everything that moved. Opal smiled. She liked this girl already.
"My name's Opal. Nice to meet you too."
 
"...You're nervous." Zora muttered, seemingly staring straight ahead. She had seen his wing twitch out of the corner of her eye. "Why's that?"
Carmina whispered a quick "you're welcome" and grinned at Opal, extending a hand. This girl had style.

"Kirita?"
She awoke to a light knocking on the door as Darkness walked in.
"What is it...?"
"We need to talk. There's... someone, after you. Sent to kill you, Seph and Rai."
"What?"
"Apparently sent by people from where you come from. Does that sound familiar in any way?"
Kirita stared at her.
"I knew it. I fucking knew it. They always hated me... but... why Sephii? Or Rai... Oh god, Rai..." tears began to form near her eyelids. "No one of us deserves to die, least of all him after he's been through so much..."
Darkness sighed and hugged her tightly.
"Don't worry about it. We're gonna keep you safe."

"You'd be nervous too, if you were forced with the responsibility of protecting someone from an assassin who's whereabouts and weaknesses are unknown." Rhythm muttered.
"On top of that, we have the wedding, and I want nothing to go wrong during that..." His wing twitched again.
Raiquen glanced around nervously, then stood up and walked towards the hallway on the intent of heading to his room.
Opal smirked. She knew that her and Carmina would become immediate friends.

"Sweetie, I have it all taken care of..." Zora sighed, just now turning to face him. "You can relax... Nothing will go wrong..." she glanced at Raiquen as he left, but said nothing.
Carmina smirked to match Opal's before choosing a chair and sitting down with her legs crossed over one another.
"Come, sit."

Kirita whimpered.
"I know, but just the thought..."
"I know it's unfair, but please, try to calm down..." Darkness patted her back as Kirita sobbed on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry..." she lifted her head and sniffled, "It's just so shocking... I think I've figured out what happened to my... my 'family'..."
