• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

(I know the last guy who did this got shot down badly, but still - I'd like to see how this goes over.)

This Sunday at 12:26 PM and 4 seconds, I will be observing a minute's silence in memory of the victims of the 2004 Asian tsunami. If anyone has an opinion on this/would also like to participate in this/thinks this is a bad idea, you're free to post.

Why don't we just have a 'moment of silence' thread for everything in general and people can post there for whatever moment of silence they want?

why would you post for a moment of silence? o.o I can understand posting for discussion of a particular memorial, but having threads so people can say they're having a minute of silence seems pointless to me. :|

The main difference between this thread and the other memorial thread is because this one isn't at all political in nature. :| Nobody suddenly started hating waves after this, but people did start hating muslims after 9/11. The Boxing Day Tsunami was a huge deal over here in Australia (but sometimes, I feel like this is mostly because Australians like giving themselves a huge pat on the back when we help anyone) and I can't see why anyone would really be against this. I think moments of silence in general are silly, though, and I'd much rather remember things in my own way.

Was there a huge impact in Malaysia, rock-ground? I remember Thailand being pretty devastated by it and there was a huge donation drive over here.
