Beta Readers

A lot of other sites with fanfiction areas have them. Would it be a good idea for TCoD?

For those who don't know what beta readers are: Beta readers are people who read through a fanfiction or story before it's posted live. They check for everything from grammar issues to plot and character development they basically help writers as they go through the process of making a fic.

If it were to work, I think it would be better-executed on a case-by-case basis. For instance, make a sticky thread for people who want them and then if people don't they can just submit or something.

That's exactly what I was thinking. PC has something like that. People apply to get work beta read, and they either get assigned or choose a beta reader from the list of accepted applicants.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe it would even encourage more writings here, because, in all honesty, there isn't a whole lot of that going on. I mean, a reasonable trickle, but not the fast-eroding, all-destroying, world-consuming torrent of fanfiction that tCoD's creative minds should be emanating from every pore.

I seem to remember a time when certain readers advertised the fact that they were willing to critique art and fiction. I remember them being quite popular, if memory serves (or popular enough for it to be quite a common thing to advertise).

This seems like such an epic idea; I'd definitely sign up for it. :D

I'd sign up to be a beta. Seems like a good way for a writer to get help on their works.
