Blank Canvas Mafia Game Thread

I'm personally not that concerned about majority. The hammer threshold right now is 7 votes, and people aren't voting very much - I think if anyone comes close to getting to majority, it will be pretty apparent and there will be time for people to unvote. I'll be suspicious of anyone who hammers for reducing the amount of time we have to talk. (By the way, here's a countdown to the end of the day.)

I think Eifie is probably town. She doesn't like playing as mafia, and I think her post in the signup thread gave her a clear opening to just screw around or dip in case she was mafia, and yet here she is, top posting, seeming relaxed, and seeming to actually want people to engage with her. The obvious caveat is, it's early and she knows her meta and knows that I know her meta. But I still feel like she would not care enough about getting one over on me to actually fake effort as mafia.

@Mawile , if I asked you to vote for another person instead of No Elimination, who would you vote for?

As a general question: is voting skip/no elimination a normal or assumed part of a game's ruleset unless explicitly stated not to be possible?

yea usually i've seen voting skip/no elimination be called "abstaining" but same thing. games here generally allow it (i don't think there's been a game here that explicitly banned it?)

hmmmmmm if i had to vote for someone i would probably just vote for you to make things even :) but i don't want to be too aggressive right out the gate, thus the no elimination (besides if someone else gets to be More Suspicious Later i can always flip my vote over)

@Eifie, do you have thoughts on missingno and Dodge's responses to your pokes? / specifically, curious for your thoughts on this thought:
I think missingno's response is maybe slightly towny, because it feels pretty brazen to actually type out, effectively, "I have no thoughts and I am aware this is suspicious", whereas he seems like he would want to go under-the-radar as mafia and also has at least enough experience with the game to be aware that it'd be less sus to make something up. I'm not sure if I'm making too much out of it, since their other posts haven't inspired much for me - I guess the thought process for mafia missingno there would have been something like "no one is having thoughts, so to blend in I will also profess to not have thoughts"

hm, i don't think these things were necessarily opposed? i did have the same question as you. but i think it was +town for her to bring it up as a point of discussion at a stage where nothing was really happening, and her response to your post also made enough sense to me. i will say that i am a bit unsure if that was meant to be an FoS on keldeo but i also have a tendency to misread mf's intent so i'm tempted to give the benefit of the doubt atm.

yeah, it is. i personally don't think it's good for town though (and as far as i understand it, that's especially the case in a daystart game)

...I'm also realizing my brief stint playing #AmongUs has also gotten me accustomed to random accusations out the gate ദ്ദി ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ )

Yeah, obviously not the part that she posted pre-role assignment - I meant that I expected her to not be very active this game, so I'm comparing her amount of activity so far to that expectation, not like a baseline mafia player expectation.

What makes you suspicious of Mawile? I think it's been notably focused on whether/why it is suspected but idk if that's super alignment-indicative for it.

i just usually see being super concerned about receiving any pressure as being a little wolfy. and your vote was clearly not meant to be a very weighty one. but i definitely think that it isn't that unlikely for v!mawile to be nervous about it in the same way, which is why i say it's very light

Born to be a little guy, forced to post thoughts while playing mafia game - but seriously, and I guess this question is directed at anyone who wants to answer it - it's possible the mafia haven't posted anything substantial yet, but it's certain that most of the posters so far are town. Is there anyone who sticks out to you as particularly trustworthy, even if slightly or for a silly reason, and why?

That said, I'll second Mawile's request for the reasons MF had thought of for keldeo picking Mawile. Not because I think they'll be enlightening, but I bet they'll be funny.

see, I'm a grandmaster of the art of coming across iffy no matter what alignment I'm playing. it's a pretty bad thing when I'm town, but it's also pretty bad when I'm mafia !

okay yeah, to generally clarify on that point, I'm not subtly FoSing Keldeo and I do not have the slightest SR on anyone just yet; I suppose I sounded a bit more accusatory than I'd intended with the wet horse quip and all

almost every game we run here allows no-elim, but we also almost always do stick it explicitly onto the ruleset
on my rulesets I typically include it alongside a theme-relevant joke !
