blazheirio889 & Fish and Ships vs. RandomTyphoon & Kam

Oh, I edited out my Safeguard after I noticed Negrek said that it doesn't block attraction. I did edit in Protect and the circumstances in which Protect should be used at the same time, though.

Don't worry about the mistakes. :) Double battles are boring a pain to write and keep track of - I've had my fair share of reffing them, myself. But all in all this was a pretty boring good reffing.

Hm. Well, this explains something that had been tricking my mind -- I was pretty sure you ordered Safeguard, which is also why I asked about it in the A&A Guide, but later I saw Protect being listed as the third command and thought it was a misread on my own account.

Thankfully, this is the only match I'm currently reffing, so, aside from RL stuff, there's not much more than the match itself to confuse me.

Hm. This could prove troublesome.

Simply put, try to use Leech Seed. Focus on the Ralts first, but if you can't seed it then seed Waffle instead.

Oh yeah, and if you're Taunted, it's Blizzard tiem!

Leech Seed (ralts)/Leech Seed (Pancake)/Blizzard x3

Bah, we don't have time to screw around with Leech Seed and the like. But according to Kam's command string, once both Eledancia and Pancake are seeded, Frosty won't do anything, so...! Eledancia, Mimic Dark Pulse after Dexter's made his move and direct it at Frosty. After that, it should technically appear in your movepool and you should technically have used it, so Imprison to shut down Dexter for the remainder of the round. Finally, just to be annoying, undo the Trick Room so we attack last once again.
how much do you want to bet Kam and Typh will want to kill me if I don't end this Trick Room thing soon?

Mimic (Dark Pulse) @Frosty ~ Imprison @Dexter ~ Trick Room

Oh yes. Let's go crazy with the claws and the biting and the cutting, so go with Fury Cutter.

Fury Cutter @Dexter x3

Arena: Someplace Boring
Yes, it’s someplace boring. So boring, in fact, that whoever discovered it couldn’t be arsed to think of a name for it. So why are a whooping four trainers congregating here to have a battle? Because we can’t be zipping around with Adrenapacks or swiping Pokemon from another trainer’s party or getting drunk at bars in Manhattan every day. There’s only so much excitement and exhilaration a citizen of Asber can contain before they implode.

Anyway, moving on with the actual description. Someplace Boring is a large, grassy field dotted with trees and small lakes. The trees are generally rather large, with thick, spreading branches crowned with thickets of leaves. While sturdy, the trees obviously have a limit, and branches can be snapped off with powerful attacks or simply sheer weight. The lakes, though small, are large enough to accommodate the average water Pokemon, and can supply water for moves such as Surf.

The ground is easy on the feet: lush, soft, and springy. It’s easily torn, though, so Pokemon will have no trouble using Dig and the like. Additionally, there is enough sand and small debris to go around, enabling the use of Sand Attack, Sand Tomb, etc.
Arena status: A boring hailstorm is pouring down the boring battlefield. The flow of boring time is altered in a boring way (4 actions left).

-----

Commands were issued on each side. The bizarre shift in time itself seemed to take effect even on simple actions like this one -- Trick Room is certainly a powerful move.

Eledancia could effortlessly outrun every single enemy, but had orders to hold still for that time being. She watched as her partner and her largest, most threatening opponent prowled around each other, waiting for the best opportunity to land siege. Overlooking the lesser menace was not the smartest move, though. By the time she noticed its presence, the Leech Seed had already began to sprout and spread its painful tendrils through skin and into veins.

Tired of the waiting game, Pancake leapt to make the first move. The wild swing of her front paw was was blocked against, but nonetheless, it did its share of damage. Little by little, as the faint green aura on the bony limbs became stronger, so did the pain that Dexter felt... And, unfortunately for the target, conveyed into one powerful blast of negative thoughts and dark energy. The Skelitten was sent clean flying, left to land on one among the several ponds scattered throughout the uninteresting battlefield.

That was just the opportunity her tag had been waiting for, though. The Ralts had noticed the Cacturne's bitter expression upon releasing the attack. Though it was far from perfect, she did what she could to feign the same suffering, launching it in the form of her own purple blast, forming up a proper counterstrike for the sneaky fellow that dared plant that damn annoying thing into her while she wasn't watching.

The small humanshaped Pokémon began moving again immediately. Both of her seemingly fingerless gained a bright glow. A loud thud echoed through the boring air, and chains rose from the ground. Orbs of light floated away from her opponents -- seven from each one of them -- to form a red lock at the spot where the chains met.

Frosty knew better than to try to understand what he didn't understand. He chose to stick to the commands. He fired the next round of evil dodders, nearly missing the target but hitting it well on the skeletal head. The branches began to sprout and suck whatever leftover life force the undead kitten may have had, much like they were already draining from her ally.

Pancake was deeply annoyed. She was soaked, and now, painful tendrils made their way toward her empty eye sockets, and could eventually start hindering her vision. She just felt like moving up a full-fledged rampage over that jerk that keeps hitting her with absurdly strong attacks. With a blind rush, she unleashed a wild cut against Dexter. Though he had his guard up as usual, he still took a good deal of damage.

The Cacturne tried to mount up a counterstrike... But it just wouldn't go. He let the vicious thoughts run free in his mind, but something stopped him from unleashing them as a wave of darkness.

Eledancia seemed to be turning a blind eye to the rest of the fighters. She was just standing around in her own corner, quietly hacking into the flow of time to undo the changes previously done. That would have happened naturally within an action, so, the Ralts has a hard time trying to figure why her trainer wanted to waste valuable minutes doing that... But she had faith in the commands she was dealt, even if they yielded no visible results.

With everything back to normal, Dexter was moving swiftly again... But, nonetheless, he remained stuck in his attempts to convey the ever-worsening thoughts into a proper onslaught. In his constantly failing attemtps, he couldn't even guard himself against the incoming, furious slash unleashed by the one who was slowly becoming his personal rival for the match, Pancake. RandomTyphoon's Pokémon was left to apply pressure upon the ample gash across his torso as a red aura glew around him -- the damage cap, as it was commonly called.

Frosty quietly watched the boring scene unfold, and let the seeds he sowed do the reaping for him. Mneawhile, the flurry of icy stones from the sky was relentless. The cold winds weighed on the battlers' chests, and all but Kam wondered what kind of freak the Snover was, to enjoy this sort of climate.

- First to point out the AA reference doesn't get a cookie.
- Dexter hit the damage cap on the final action.
- Unexciting Team With Names That End With The Same Sound (i.e. RandomTyphoon and Kam) attacks first next round.

I'm a bit confused as to why Dexter only took 10% damage from the Fury Cutters. The first should've had a base power of 40, the second 80, and the third 160. According to my calculations, Dexter should've gone well over the cap.

Dunno how the hell this came out wrong, but the amount he received was 20% (which is still only half as much as the cap).

Pretty sure Fury Cutter doesn't work that way. In fact, that'd be extremely broken. I just place a multiplier at the base power that's equal to the current streak (plus one, of course).

Well, the source that told me otherwise now says the same thing you do. I really need to get a reliable one.

I still think getting to 160 base power in 5 blows is a tad broken, but, I'll give the calculations a redo.

Sorry for the constant mistakes, it's just that I had to begin the reffing while my brother and my mother decided to argue so loud two closed doors couldn't make them any less hearable.

EDIT: Fixed.

Typh has a migraine and it'll take a while for her to submit commands.

For me, though:

Frosty, you're doing well. Start with a Shadow Ball at Pancake, but if she uses Protect, then Swords Dance. If they try to use Snatch, do nothing.

For the next action, use Icy Wind. If one protects, use Swords Dance again. If both are protected, make a 10% sub.

Finally, Ingrain. If Taunted, then use Blizzard (which can go through protect iirc).

Shadow Ball (Pancake)/Swords Dance/nothing ~ Icy Wind/Swords Dance/10% Substitute ~ Ingrain/Blizzard

aaaa test prep

...okay actual strategy, you awesome serial killer you.

You can still use Torment, so use that. If anything prevents you from doing so, keep going at it. And you can also sill use Payback, so once Torment is laid down, use that.

Torment~Torment/Payback@Pancake~Torment/Payback@Pancake

Okay. Simple strategy this time. More attacking. Less mindfuck.

Well, Torment's targets still weren't specified, so just to be safe, Signal Beam Dexter, and then Fire Punch Frosty. Then Encore Frosty's Ingrain to buy us some time next round.

Signal Beam @Dexter ~ Fire Punch @Frosty ~ Encore @Frosty

I get the feeling there's something I'm missing, since this is pretty unusual, but, one more DQ warning. This time, it's for Green.

Torment was targeted at Green, iirc.
