• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

The ultimate breakthrough in medicine has been announced: the recently deceased can now be brought back to life! It requires them to operate mostly through cyborg parts, sure, but that could be dealt with by polishing the technology a bit. However, this has generated a group of opposition, one that believes defying death invites doom upon humanity. This group has performed terrorist acts, often involving the killing of those who were revived. When some of this group's people started to get killed, however, they saw no option other than to use the enemy. It's all for a good cause, after all, as they would say.

This has ultimately led to an arms race between revived units both for and against the measure. Those who oppose it have been conventionally named "the Resistance".

I think I've brought this up on the idea thread. In case I didn't, or in case you didn't see it, the idea here is that, in this game of mafia, players will not die; instead, they will be given new roles. The innocent and mafia (resistance) factions have an objective of exhausting the opponent's roles (which, for the last few, means kill them all).

Innocent, mafia/resistance and third party roles with long-term goals (e.g. Survivors) will be, at the end of the game, treated as belonging to the faction they have proportionally played as mostly (so, for example, if a player only got to be mafia once but survived as mafia three times as much as they did in any other role, they're ultimately considered mafia). Third party roles with short-term goals (e.g. Aliens) will not be considered in this countup. Incidentally, it's possible for a single player to win multiple times.

This is a highly experimental game. There might be factors that mess it up.

I don't need any particular number of players (well, above six at least), but, it might make the calculations easier if we have fourteen.

I assume you solved the mafia problem thing then? Do the mafia know who the others are, or is that just for them to know?

After realizing 14 won't be that much of a helpful number, I decided that this will be beggining sometime tomorrow. Also, a couple of rules I forgot to mention: abstinence from lynching is freely permitted, and instead of being modkilled (as that would be pointless and so would inactive lynching), players who do not post or send in night actions for two days in a row will be up for substitution, meaning that somebody outside the game can post or send me a PM to fill in that player's position.

Pretty insanely overlong with this. Looks like, in the end, I did get fourteen players!

Signups are now technically closed, but I definitely don't mind it if somebody decided to ninja join while I pump out the role PMs, given that there's more than enough roles for fifteen players down here.
