• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Name: Arkra

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: Her eyes are of a most chocolately brown which peer out through spectacles. She has long dark brown curls which run messily down her back. The outfit is composed of a red long sleeved shirt with a white collar and white jeans. For shoes, she wears sandals with, oddly enough, socks. Around her neck is a golden necklace, from which a blood red ruby hangs.

Personality: Having been immensely sheltered in the past, Arkra is an intensely shy and anxious individual, and rarely speaks up unless she is angry or feels there is extreme need. Despite being so shy, she has a rather nasty temper, which at times can be quite scary. Especially when she tries to contain it. It's not entirely difficult to make Arkra mad. Her demeanor is rather strange, she talks in a monotone voice and acts rather meanly/anxiously towards strangers, despite the fact that she is desperate for friends.

She also is quite a stickler for the rules and disapproves of all those who break them. Arkra believes firmly in her convictions and morals and if anyone tries to doubt them... well, let's just say it's one of the easier ways to get her angry. And or upset.

Starter: Turtwig. (Ooh, nickname's a good idea. Um, we'll call him Tidus.)

Legendary: Mesprit.

Other: I'll use this to give her a mini history~

Arkra was extremely sheltered and coddled by her parents her entire life growing up. Due to this, leaving home to go on her Pokemon journey has been something quite stressful for her. She has never been too far from her parents and has been used to having most things done for her. As a result, she doesn't really know how to do a lot of things that normal teenagers with less overbearing parents can do.

Name: Hali Minrow
Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: SHE LOOKS LIKE A GUY! Really. If you were to see her at your school, you'd think she was a guy who cross-dressed. She has a manly face and posture, and probably the only thing that looks like it belonged to a girl on her (besides her clothing) would be her simi-flat chest. Her hair though, is long, black and manly.

She doesn't have much muscle though. In fact, she can just hold up fifteen pounds.

Personality: Played out :3

Starter: Starly (Nicknamed Max)

Legendary: Dialga

Other: She might be a guy No, nothing else to report (unless someone wants to have some sort of complicated relationship with her)

Alright you are all added.
Bakuphoon you already know when to post along with Dragon_night.
Let's start!
----------------------------------

Beep. Pause. Beep. Pause. Be-SLAM.
"Is it already time to get up?!" Baron yelled to nobody in particular.
"Yes! And if you don't hurry up then Rowan won't have any Pokemon left!" he heard his mom yell from downstairs.
That's right! he though suddenly awake and thanking himself for taking a shower last night.

It had been 4 years since Baron was able to get a Pokemon and start on his journey. But his mom refused believing he lacked the proper knowledge. Since Dawn left Baron joined up with Rowan and became his assistant, learning what there was to know about Pokemon. Today was the day his mom was allowing him to leave.

Throwing on his jeans and shirt Baron looked around for his vest and messenger bag. After throwing on his vest in a hurry he attempted the bag but fell to the floor with a loud thunk.
"Is everything alright up there?!" his mom yelled.
"Yes mom. I just fell over!" he yelled back getting up and fixing himself.

Running downstairs he kissed his mom and bolted out the door and sprinted towards Lake Verity. I hope Rowan hasn't been waiting too long! he thought to himself as he ran up to Rowan.

"Professor I'm sorry to have kept you waiting!" he said panting.
"Don't worry Baron. The Starly aren't out yet anyways. While we have the time why don't you pick out your Pokemon. You did remember right?" Rowan said calmly.
"Yes I did remember!" he said picking a random Pokeball up. "Go....you?" he said tossing the Pokeball towards the ground. With a burst of red light a little monkey formed with a fire on it's tail. "Chimchar!" Baron squealed in delight.
"Is this the one you want?" Rowan asked reluctantly knowing that Baron was a pyromaniac and would love a fire monkey.
"I would love it!" Baron proclaimed as he played with the monkey.

With a yawn, Zach slowly awoke and rolled off of the side of his bed, hitting the floor with a loud thunk. "Ow..." he groaned slowly, standing up and blearily getting changed into his favourite dark red trousers and sky blue T-shirt. Yawning, he walked downstairs and found his mother sitting at the dining table, eating a bowl of muesli.

"Hi. I'm gonna go to the lake, I think," he said, still sleepy. He walked past the woman into the kitchen where he slowly made a few pieces of buttered toast. He went back into the Dining Room, and his mum stood up. She walked over to him and kissed him.

"Make sure you come and see me again before you leave," she said. He nodded and lumbered down the hallway to the front door, shutting it behind him.

Zach lazily walked across the town, munching on his toast thoughtfully, until he came to the beautiful lake. He approached the edge of the lake and almost tripped over a large stone, but quickly regained his balance and walked over to two people nearby.

"Hello," he said slowly to the Professor. "I'm here to get my Pokémon, please."

The Professor nodded and showed him the basket of Pokéballs. Zach picked one of them up and pressed the button on the front, letting out a beam of red energy which transformed into a small, blue penguin.

"Piplup, Piplup, Piplup!" it said in a cute, high-pitched voice.

"I'll take this one," Zach said, picking up the little Water Pokémon. It shut its large eyes and waved its wings in delight as it was lifted throguh the air.

"What gender is it?" the boy asked, and Professor Rowan informed him the Piplup was a male.

Baron noticed the other boy walk in.
"Hi my name is Baron. What's yours?" he said extending his hand to the new boy.

"I'm Zach," he yawned, shaking the other boy's hand slowly. He noticed vaguely that Baron had what appeared to be a monkey who had been the victim of a cruel practical joke.

"You might wanna help that Pokémon," he said, pointing at the ape.

"Nothin is wrong with Chimchar. He's supposed to be like that." he told Zach laughing.
"Do you know anything about Pokemon?" he asked.

"Oh. I see. I'm just a little tired, that's all." Zach replied sleepily.

"Do I know anything about them? I suppose. I've learned quite a lot from just not doing much and listening to things."

((He's very lazy but also considerably smart - like Uxie.))

"ARKRA?! ARE YOU STILL SLEEPING?!"

A loud shrill voice reverberated through her room. Arkra jumped, immensely startled. She looked at her mother irrately, gasping and sputtering.

"No, I'm not sleeping!" The girl looked blearily at the older woman, for some reason lying in irritation. "Gah, you don't have to wake me up.... I can wake myself up..." She added under her breath.

"I can't believe you! It's time to go get your first Pokemon and you're still sleeping! Wake up this instant and get dressed! You'll be lucky if they even HAVE any left!" Her mother walked out of her doorway, still fussing to herself.

"Stupid alarm... Didn't freaking work..." Arkra muttered mutinously. She was never quite in a good mood when lifted unwillingly from the pleasure that is sleeping.

Getting dressed, her mind began to wake up more... And then she became a little worried. What if, what if she couldn't handle this trip....?Then there was that professor.. she really hoped she didn't have to talk to him... talking to strangers made her nervous, especially if they were adults.

She ate her breakfast with immense anxiety, so much so that she could barely stomach the buttered toast... it was like trying to eat carpet. Arkra left half of it uneaten, hoping that her mother wouldn't comment on this.

Finally... everything was finished. It was time... She grabbed her things (which were inside of a small red and white purse) and looked at her mother. She nodded. They walked together to Sandgem Town and stood in front of the laboratory.

"I love you, mom."

"I love you too. Be careful, my sunshine." And they embraced. "If you need anything... just call."

"I will." They exchanged a serious look. "Don't worry, I can handle it." Though Arkra was lying through her teeth once more. Her bravado seemed to be convincing, because her mother smiled.

"You're so brave! Have a good time..." And the woman walked away, leaving her all alone to face the professor...

Arkra attempted to open the door to the laboratory with sweaty shaking hands. But it was locked.

"Wha... wha...? Where is he...?"

A passerby seemed to take notice of Arkra, she presumed that he was an assistant, due to his clothing.

"He's at Lake Verity, doing some research." The man informed her. She looked at him, her brown eyes lost and confused look. "Where is that...?"

The man smiled patiently. "Would you like me to take you there?" She nodded, grateful. "If it's not too much trouble, sir."

And the anxious girl and man trudged through the grasses towards Lake Verity. Arkra noticed with awe at all the Pokémon that seemed to be around, skittering about. He continued to smile at her astonishment, it seemed to him as if she hadn't gotten out much. Aw... to be young.

"We're here." And he led her to a most beautiful looking clear lake and looked to the professor.

"This one's here for a Pokémon... She came by your laboratory..."

"Ah, I see..." The old man smiled reassuringly, noting how nervous she looked. "I'm so sorry miss, but there's only one left... Would you like to see it?"

Arkra nodded. She wasn't really fussed about which one she got, all she wanted was to get away from all of those people she didn't know.. Those younger children were making her immensely nervous, as was being with the professor. Her face felt very warm... she was pretty sure that it was as red as a cherry. Stupid shyness...

He dug into his suitcase and handed her a Pokéball, which she reached out carefully for with a quivering, sweaty hand.

"Go on. Try it out!"

Her quivering sweaty hand reached slowly towards the sphere and gently took it. She looked at the professor with a rather lost expression. "H-how do you work it...?"

He continued to smile at her. "It's simple... just press the button in the middle."

Arkra nodded and looked down at the ball, pressing the button just as he indicated. It cracked open and the girl looked on in astonishment as a green turtle-like creature materialized in a dazzling flash of crimson light.

"Wow..."

"That is a Turtwig... would you like to take it?"

She nodded once more, still looking at the Pokémon. It stared back at her in curiosity.

"Is i-it a b-boy... or a girl?"

"It is a boy."

(Uh, you do know that the proff. is at Lake Verity, not in his lab...)

It's an uncomfortable thing to have a large, blunt stick being poked into your eye; more so when you were asleep, dreaming happy thoughts. Worse off would be the bucket of water that was to be dumped on your head as soon as the snapped the stick in half, while you were half asleep.

Well, that was the way Hali's morning started. It was also the answer as to why several water pokemon that morning would be found unconscious in the grass where a forgotten sleeping bag was at.

It took about five seconds after that 'attack' before Hali fell over and slept some more until finally, an hour later, she woke up from her sleeping bag and looked around, dazed and wondering just why she had slept near Lake Verity for...

The sight of Rowen, the the opposite side of the lake, giving out pokemon, jogged up her memory enough to make her running in a panic, wondering what time it was. At the speed she was travailing at (which, indecently wasn't much, but pretty fast for her) she made it all the way around the lake by the time the last pokemon was handed out.

She was also going fast enough to have a head on collision with a small bird, that managed to knock both her and the Starley out a few feet away from the professor.

Bianca woke up with a start and looked at the clock on the desk beside her bed. "What?! Am I that late??" She jumped out of her bed, quickly dressed up and ran down the stairs.

"Don't run down the stairs, Bianca!" Bianca's mother said.

"Sorry mom!" She headed out to the door.

"Where are you going?" Her mother asked, and Bianca stopped and turned.

"Going to get my first Pokémon, duh."

"Oh, that's right. Don't you want breakfast, dear?"

Bianca shoke her head. "No thanks, I'm late as it is." She opened the door and ran out.

The girl got her bike and headed to Verity Lake. "I'm sooo damn late!" She said under her breath as she arrived at the lake.

"Sorry I'm late, I just woke up and- WHOA my hair is messy!" She looked the water at herself. "I knew I should've brushed it before I left!"

Professor Rowan chuckled, then he made sad face. "I'm afraid there's no more Pokémon left."

"What?" Bianca stopped looking at herself in the water and stood up and looked at the professor.

"But!" Rowan said, and started to search his suitcase for something. "You can catch your own!" He found a Pokéball in the suitcase and handed it to Hannah.

"Really? B-but I've never caught a Pokémon before! How do I do it?" Hannah said with a curios look in her face.

"It's easy." Rowan said. "Actually, not quite so easy for you, since you don't have any Pokémon to weaken the Pokémon you're going to catch." He sighed. "Well, you just got to take that chance. And anyways, you could buy another Pokéball at the mart in Sandgem Town."

Hannah shrugged, and studied the Pokéball.

((I'm gonna be gone until Wednesday, so I won't be able to post for a few days. Sorry!))
