.: Full Metal Cookies vs moon-panther :: Round Twelve :.
2vs2 Single
Style: Set
DQ: Standard week
Damage Cap: 30%
Banned Moves: OHKO's, Direct Healing
Arena: Enchanted Forest
Almost every Faerie Tale has a forest... An enchanted forest. The battle will take place in a clearing, surrounded by huge trees that are impossible to bypass. There's a small pond in the clearing's centre, providing a spot for water-bound Pokemon. The trees seem almost impervious to fire, and will not burn. Every three rounds, a pair of golden mightyena will appear from the trees, attack the battlers with one random attack, and flee.

.: Actions :.
Chaos murmurs something softly, shifting around a bit in her sleep, but she doesn’t get up. Jinkosen tilts his head curiously, thinking that the murmur doesn’t sound quite the same as everything else she said while asleep. (Well, the tone doesn’t. He can never quite catch what she’s trying to say.) He’s quickly distracted by one of the dancing lights, however, and pays her no mind… until she says something, in a soft tone, that he swears is his name. Jaw dropping, he stares at her.
Wait, what?
She murmurs some other inaudible things, and though he returns to watching the lights, he sort of can hear her talking. He hears his name again, a whimper, and a few confusing phrases that just seem weird out of context. Probably just her dream, maybe, though what is
he doing in there? Then, quite oddly, he hears a declaration of her love, and he stares at her. It’s only then that he realises just how beautiful she is, even more so than the lights, and especially against the dreary backdrop of the rain. Her vibrant fur, plastered to her skin, even looks kind of…
Jinkosen shakes his head, embarrassed, and returns to watching the lights. He doesn’t really want to make his thoughts obvious to the trainers, watching, or that referee who might even be recording all of this or something. As he watches two of the lights seemingly dancing together, something suddenly clicks, and he turns back to Chaos.
Well, damn. Their feelings… they’re mutual.
Chaos mutters some more, but this time Jinkosen is confident that he knows what it’s about. It’s him, of course. He blushes a bit, wondering what dream she might be having – well, he thinks he has an idea. She stands up, and he wonders if maybe she’s going to
act it out – but it’s kind of embarrassing right in front of their trainers, and he’s not really ready for
that yet.
She opens her mouth, chest expanding as she inhales deeply. She then looses a large, white-hot blast of flames that expands into a strange shape, vaguely like a star. The rain tears through the flames and cools it down a bit, but it can’t stop the blast from enveloping Jinkosen, burning through his feathers even with the rain cooling and trying to extinguish it. Jinkosen squeaks, cringing, but he’s relieved to find that this probably won’t cause any permanent damage… though with his already bad condition, it’s not really helpful. He only wonders for a moment about why she might’ve attacked him, as he quickly finds an excuse:
She attacked in her sleep, so of course it doesn’t really
count. She probably forced herself to make it fire, since she knew it wouldn’t hurt that badly. That must be it, Jinkosen thinks, so it would be just
wrong to attack her like this. He admires a light that dances across his vision, and thinks they would be prettiest dancing around Chaos. It’s not that her appearance is lacking, of course not! It would just enhance the beauty she already has.
So distracted is he that he doesn’t notice the mighyena until he hears the snarl.
He turns, eyes wide, toward the trees. The mightyena stalk toward him and his love, one snarling, the other grinning.
“We’re ba~ck,” one sings at him. Jinkosen looks around helplessly, seeing only the lights – and his beautiful, helplessly vulnerable Chaos sleeping on the grass.
One mightyena tears forward while the other digs into the mud, quickly disappearing from view. The mightyena still above ground runs at the two pokémon, and Jinkosen can only pray that it’s not Chaos – he’ll protect her with his own body, if he has to! But the mightyena is too fast, and by the time it’s clear that he’s going for Chaos, there’s nothing Jinkosen can do.
“No!” he screams, rushing forward to stop the mightyena as it leaps. But just then, a mightyena rips out of the ground and tackles Jinkosen, pinning him to the ground. The other mightyena pounces on Chaos, using its body weight to crush her back. Chaos awakens with a yelp of pain, which seems to ring in Jinkosen’s ears. Chaos is hurt… and he can’t help her. Why is this? he demands silently, still lying on the grass as the mightyena both get up off their victims and run off.
Slowly, Jinkosen pushes himself to his feet, but it’s so
difficult – every movement sends pain shooting through his body, but he must do it. He must. Chaos, too, does the same, hissing as she stands up. She glares after the mightyena. Who do they think they are? The sound of Jinkosen’s voice, asking her if she’s alright, draws her attention to the piplup. She’s alarmed to find him walking toward her, and quickly gathers energy from the forest as before. A green ball of grass energy forms again, and shoots forward to strike Jinkosen in the stomach.
With a cry, Jinkosen falls to the ground, cushioned by the soft grass and mud. He gasps. He’s glad to know that she’s okay, enough to attack, but why must she do that to him? This time… this time, she’s not asleep, so it has to have been on purpose. Didn’t she say she loved him? It was during her sleep, so it must’ve been her true feelings unmasked. So it must be real! Much slower than before, he tries to stand, but just moving hurts so badly. Still, he perseveres, and manages to stand. His legs shake underneath him, ready to let him collapse. But he won’t!
Jinkosen stares at her, searching her impassive face for answers. Why is she attacking him like this?
It’s just her way of showing her love, Jinkosen decides. Look, she even gave him the gift of these beautiful orbs, so a part of her is with him… she doesn’t realise that it hurts, really, and he doesn’t mind. Actually… as long as it’s her, he wouldn’t mind falling in battle. He just stands there, waiting, wings spread wide, welcoming the next thing she decides to throw at him. If the only thing separating them is her want for victory, she can have it.
Chaos stares, still not quite getting it, but then smirks. If he’s going to leave himself wide open like that, that’s his loss. She’s surprised he managed to get her so tired and injured (probably with a LOT of help from those mightyena), so she wants to end it quickly. He’s going to lose.
She finds something slightly odd, though. It might be just the rain – but is he crying?
