Open My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

All of a sudden, everything on the roof became quiet. The silver dragon slowly climbed up to her feet, facing the crowd below, and finally opened her eyes again... her green eyes. Her vision focused on one unicorn in particular... the one who had sent the beam out to attack her. With only a very soft, low growl for a warning, the sliver dragon crouched down and leaped off the building, her claws outstretched and her jaws open, teeth bared. While at first as she was getting up, her aura was very faint, as Starlight was leaping down, her misty cloud quickly sprayed out around her body, only this time, it was a dark gray color, maybe halfway in between the nearly black of the cloud's color and the very light gray of her original color, seeming to faintly draw away the color of whatever was around it. She will pay for attacking me... yes..

Immediately, her attention was drawn by to the approaching and angry dragon... she hadn't accounted for this. After hitting it, pretty much, there was no plan after that. She thought it was too far away to notice that she was the one who had done it... but that wasn't the case.

She backed away slowly, heart pounding even more this time. Don't hit it again... don't hit it again... but it seemed her own horn was going against her. The more she mentally chanted this, the more magical energy charged up, until it burst forth out of her control in another concentrated beam.

This time though, she didn't wait for the results. She turned tail and ran.

Since the reddish pony moved before she reached the ground, the initial leap against Arylett failed, and just as she was about to jump again, the unicorn prepared another beam to fire. Star landed on all fours, then jumped to the side, crouching down and growling as the red beam blew up dust and debris in a small hole on the ground where she had been. Her green eyes remained focused on her target, and when Arylett turned tail and ran, Starlight started to sprint after her, the two of them galloping through the town. She didn't seem to have any qualm with any other at the time, only the one who physically hurt her, and who tried to hurt her again...

Bruce had seen things that he wished nopony else would see. He had to go through hard training to be in the Princesses' army. He had known firsthand what it was like to deal with a dragon. Even a baby dragon dealt damage. He was required by Celestia's Army's Code to protect everypony and anypony. SO he did what he had to do, whta came naturally to him. He went to save the day.

"Stay here," he said to his daughter.

"But Dad-"

"No buts. You stay here." Bruce took off after the fleshy-colored pony and the silver dragon, leaving Lilijana behind. She sighed, shaking her head at her father. He was always trying to be the hero, the knight in shining armor. One day he was going to get what was coming to him, if he hadn't already.

Lili was generally surprised by the attack. The little dragon seemed so cute and innocent. She couldn't believe it would attack the pink unicorn. But then again, as she had been told by her father before, you couldn't trust anypony or anything. She went back into the bakery, passing by Pinkie Pie.

"Wow! That little guy seems awfully vicious!" Pinkie exclaimed, seemingly excited by the ordeal.

"Pinkie, I don't know what your problem is," Lili sighed, walking over behind the counter. Pinkie blinked and turned to the other ponies.

"Was it something I said?"

Myst and Rainbow Dash saw the chase.

"I'll follow them from the air!"
"......why?"
" Some adventure,duh."
"I'll go with you."
"Ok."
Myst and Rainbow Dash then tailed the pony and dragon.

"Well, yes, I know, but you shouldn't go hurting things when you don't even have any evidence. It could have been a coincidence." She then turned and saw the dragon in an attack stance. Oh crap.

"DRAGON! Dragon calm down! She's scared! She was scared of the smoke! Don't hurt her! She didn't mean to!" She saw some other, faster pegasi flying after the chase. "Could you two please pass the message on to the dragon? The dragon is good. I repeat, the dragon is good! Tell the dragon not to hurt the unicorn!"

Myst heard the pony shout something about the dragon being good and to tell the dragon not to hurt the unicorn.
"Um, I doubt the dragon will listen! But, I guess I can try."
Myst ran faster, endeavoring to get in front or beside the dragon to tell it.
Rainbow Dash saw Myst running faster. Getting closer.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you! Just knock it out and restrain it or something!"

Ember looked up from the book in her lap to see the silver dragon from earlier was attacking a unicorn, and she bit her lip. Suddenly she felt compelled to open the book, and so she did; she had barely made the motion to pull it open when it had sprung itself open, with its pages turning of their own accord, and a bright light shone from the flipping pages, accompanied with copious amounts of dust. After all, the inside of this book had been receiving a lot of attention lately after having not been opened for a very long time.

"Hey, look! It's--" She was cut off, however, by the sudden escalating need to sneeze at the dust. "Aah... aah... ah...! ACHOO!"

Ember sneezed a great glowing white breeze, blowing through Chrome's hair and the grass before his feet. She opened her eyes once she had expelled the dust from her nose to see that... the grass had grown twice as tall as it had been before! "Chrome, look! The grass!" The little dragon stood up on the unicorn's back and tugged on his mane excitedly.

"What? What is it?" Chrome asked, tearing his eyes away from the scene of the dragon and the ponies that were chasing it. He looked over to see that the grass next to him had grown to over twice it's original size! He stepped back and craned his neck to look at Ember. "What in Equestria did you DO?" He said, looking at the open book in her hand. Without thinking, he picked the book up out of her hands with magic- and realized the book offered no resistance. It was as if whatever power had rested in the book had left it. Tentatively, he slipped away from the crowd and cracked the spine of the book, eager to read... then, he stopped himself. He had an idea. He took off towards the town records hall, Ember gripping bemusedly to his mane as he galloped along.

The silver dragon hatchling sprinted through the city after her target, snarling as she ran. The change in her magical appearance - the dark mist and green eyes - would give evidence that something was different about her, although her figure was still pretty much the same as before the black smoke was absorbed into her body. While it took some distance through town, eventually the young dragon caught up as they ran through an alley, and she leapt back in the air but, rather than make an attempt at an initial attack, she intentionally overshot Arylett, landing clear on the other side of the unicorn and blocking her path. Not only that, but other, trailing chasers would have been blocking Arylett in the other way unintentionally as long as they continued chasing, trapping her all around. Starlight bared her teeth while turning around and glaring at Arylett, glowing with intensity, but also had the chance to see that others were there following. She gave a couple barklike chirps, as if warning them that this pony was hers.

Oh no.
Myst stopped and startted backing away. Slowly.
"Errr..."
Rainbow Dash saw the situation and did what she always did.

Kick.
SHe did so multiple times, then flew back in to the air.
So I was a hypocrite, but who cares?

Bruce looked up the the rainbow pegasus and the other pony following him and Arylett.

"Stay back! You have no idea what an angry dragon could do," he barked at them, somewhat peeved. There was no way he was going to let someone else get hurt in this instance.

Finally they reached an alley, and it looked like the dragon had the pinkish unicorn cornered. He ran even faster, gallopping as fast as he could to catch up to the two. He was ignoring to two ponies behind him now; this was more important. He stopped next to Arylett, taking a step out in front of her, as if protecting her.

"Stay back, dragon! You don't have to do this!" The dragon barked back at him in reply, and Bruce noticed it glow. This dragon was unlike the other ones he had seen. Something was definately wrong with it. He lowered his bulky head, and starting pawing at the ground with his left front hoof. He got into a charging stance, ready to fight back if he had to. It was the dragon's move now.

But then the pegasus acted up. It seemed to try and kick the dragon, with her speedy hooves and fast reflexes.

"No! Stop what you're doing right now! Don't make it any worse than it already is!"

The events before her transpired too quickly for for fearful mind to process. Arylett skidded to a halt when she had been cornered and then an attempt to protect her had been made... and then a reckless pegasus ran in and tried to kick it. Which... mildly put... wasn't that much of a bright idea.

Whilst she was grateful for the male pony's attempt to protect her, she was afraid the reckless charging would only spurn the dragon even more... what to do? Just stand there in silence as usual? Well, at least it was distracted, right? It'd only be angry at the pegasus... if she didn't lose control of her horn again.

Hmm... wait a second... that'd be risky and reckless... but perhaps it'd rid them of the dragon for good, wouldn't it?

Well, it had already chased her before...

She directed another blast of magic at it, making this one very intentionally miss it, and hoping that it would get its attention back to her.

"RAINBOW! YOU HYPOCRITE!"
Could I make an illusion to lead the dragon away from the area?
Then Myst saw the pinkish-reddish unicorn shoot a beam near the dragon.
Gah.
Myst ran to a safe distance, and tried to make a copy of the flesh coloured unicorn.
I only did this once in my life....I hope I can do it again.

As soon as she had her target finally cornered, that's when others came in. A bluish pony dove in first from the air, and even though she was significantly larger than the poor dragon, she decided to go in and attack her. The first couple kicks came almost as a shock to her system - a rather painful shock. A rather high-pitched shriek could be heard, but more than hurting her, the attack further served to infuriate her. Starlight suddenly clamped her jaws down on one of the kicking legs of the blue and rainbow colored pony, and pulled her down from the sky with a quick motion designed to slam Rainbow Dash's body against the ground on her side. Were they all against her? Was that all they wanted to do? Attack her until she was no more? They were all so big, skilled... There was only one thing she could do... The silver dragon let go and suddenly ran off, away from the group of ponies, back toward the Everfree Forest, where she came from... They will all pay... every last one of them... when I am bigger and stronger... Oddly enough, the timing was such that it might have seemed like the unicorn's 'warning shot' actually worked.

"OW! Medic, someone! I just got bitten by an angry dragon!"
That was nice.
Myst stopped and saw Rainbow Dash on the ground.
"Umm,umm..it's not bleeding much..ummm...let me get water to clean it."
She ran off and got some water, and came back. She cleaned it, and waited for someone to help.

Bruce was angry at every last one of them. The pink pony had tried to attack the dragon yet again, the pegasus had gotten bitten, and the other pony was just being useless.

"For the love of everything good and celestial! You guys are ruining everything. Our attacker has just run away into the Everfree forest, and we have no idea what we're going to do now! God, you ponies are just so... so... stupid!" He snorted in angry, and shook his black and red mane back and forth violently.

Deep down inside, he felt a little sorry for the dragon. It was just defending itself. But there was only one option left. That dragon would grow up one day, and it would probably remember them. They had to destroy it.

"Okay, we need to launch a search party to track the silver hatchling down. Then, we need to kill it when we find it. Only the strongest ponies can go. I'll send a report to Princess Celestia to send out her strongest guards and soldiers."

He walked over to the rainbow pegasus.

"You deserved this. This is your mess. You get yourself out of it," he hissed, glaring down at her.

She blinked, cringing at his yelling... she didn't like loud voices.

But it was because of her that the dragon ran away, right? She chased it off! And hopefully, it wouldn't ever come back. She agreed that the pegasus had done something stupid... and maybe she herself was a little more reckless than usual too, but he could've given her SOME credit... she was only trying to help. But then again... perhaps she was being an idiot after all.

However many thoughts were spiraling in her mind, she only voiced: "I'm sorry." And knew that she probably wouldn't be one of them going to track down the dragon. She thought it was a bad idea anyway... why chase it when it's already gone? Out of sight, out of mind.

The Ponyville public records loomed ahead as Chrome raced forward. He passed a rather startled looking mailpony and hurtled inside and down the stairs. He came to an expansive, low-celinged room lined with rows upon rows of computers. On far left wall was a huge bookshelf of records, archives, and tomes, all slated to be scanned into the system.

Today, though, he wouldn't be doing any of that. He would have to use the Antechamber.

The Antechamber was a large room located off a hallway, deliberately separate from the rest of the building. It's main purpose used to be to contain highly magical books, but when Chrome had taken over this section of the building, he had retrofitted it to scan the highly magical tomes from Canterlot into the system with minimal risk to himself and the citizens of Ponyville. He had never attempted to scan a book this powerful, however. He turned the handle on the heavy silver door and heard several locking mechanisms click and slide out of their positions and the door slowly swung open. Chrome magicked the book into the special lead pedestal in the middle of the room, making sure the clamp down one side. He then left and closed the door, making sure all the locks slid into place. His horn then began to grow with a brilliant green light as he focused all his powers on putting the various magical wards in place on the door. Symbols flared green on the door and faded away, channels cut into the silver seemed to have green light filtering down through them as if it was water. Chrome always hated putting the seals on the door- it was almost outside his area of magic. He hoped they would hold.

He ran around the the computer which controlled the scanner and looked at the heavy, leather-bound book that lay within through the small viewing window cut into the silver of the room. He booted up the computer, and a pair of small metallic arms lowered from a box on the ceiling that looked speciously like bone. A small camera also lowered on a rod directly opposite the book. Then, as delicately as he could, he opened the front cover of the book.

Immediately the book began spewing white light and the pages began turning furiously. Chrome had to shield his eyes as the strong, harsh light, not unlike an extremely bright fluorescent light, shone through the window. Wave after wave of energy seemed to be pulsating out of the book, only to hit the silver walls of the Antechamber and be reflected back. The door's wards began sparking and hissing as if fighting with the waves of energy and Chrome smelled a strong metallic scent in the air. Nonetheless, squinting at the computer monitor, he could tell that the very sensitive and magically-resistant components he had worked so hard on were in fact scanning the book and saving it to the city records. Then, as quickly as it started, the book seemed to snap shut, the computer finished its scanning, and the wards on the door glowed brighter than ever and broke in one short, sharp snap that reverberated for several seconds through the empty passageway.

"Well" Chrome said to Ember, "That was quite the spectacle. I suppose we should read up, now, on exactly what this book says."

Together, they began to read.

Dinru stared in awe as the Dragon ran off. It seemed so... docile while it was eating the muffins. Perhaps the smoke had influenced it? Ah, but so much had happened that day, she was beginning to get drowsy and couldn't think totally straight. But from behind her, she heard an apology from the pony that had attacked the dragon. Dinru looked back at her, the strange pony, and said "It's okay." She didn't understand what she was even apologizing for, but... still. It was okay.
