My mom just ordered me a Christmas present

a 3-in-one NES/SNES/Sega Genesis.

Recommend me games to ask for. My list already consists of Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Kirby Super Star, Metroid, Legend of Zelda, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

MEGAMAN 1-6, MEGAMAN 7, and for a change of pace, MEGAMAN X1-3.

If you like soulcrushingly hard platformers, that is.

Also, I want a NES/SNES/Genesis combo. =( Because then all I'd need would be a PS1 memory card and I could play any games I would actually be interested in. Well, except for N64 games.

Dynamite Headdy, MUSHA, Gunstar Heroes, Samurai Shodown (Genesis), Comix Zone, Kid Chameleon, Megaman X, X2 and X3, Super Metroid, A Link to the Past, Phantasy Star III, Phantasy Star IV, Chrono Trigger, Actraiser...

Not all of them, obviously :P I could go on for hours

Megaman is most certainly not soul crushingly difficult D:

Megaman 4 and 5 are excellent, btw, even if 5 has the worst slide mechanics.

And Megaman 7

*goes to look up* the only ones of those I've ever heard of, let alone know anything about, are Megaman, A Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger and Phantasy Star. x3

I GUESS maybe I should point the genres I like:

platformers
RPGs (even though really the only RPG I've ever played is Pokémon but I like that well enough)

I haven't played much else but that's why I want Zelda I want to BROADEN MY HORIZONS

Actraiser is a nice mix of RPG and platformer. Dynamite Headdy = excellent platformer.

Oh, and Prince of Persia.

Gunstar Heroes is sorta pseudo platformer, but it's really fun. And do check out Kid Chameleon; it's a great Genesis platformer.

And I almost forgot Vectorman.

BLAZING HEARTS what have I told you about assuming everyone is on your level of platformer godhood.

Actually I don't think I've said anything.

Well stop it.

On the topic, all I can really think of is the Donkey Kong Country series, but I recommend those, mostly the third game, which I say is the best.

I wouldn't recommend getting NES Metroid but instead Super Metroid. The former is a tad annoying to play, the latter is very polished and fun yet still retro.

Get Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic&Knuckles as well. Also Chrono Trigger and Earthbound if you don't get those two I will slap you

Plus I'd say get Mario Allstars on SNES rather than Mario Bros 1&3 on the NES, since it has Mario 1, 2, and 3 and also the Japanese Super Mario 2, only 16-bit and it saves your progress on Mario 1. (Well, all of them actually but Mario 1 is the only one I'm vaguely sure doesn't do than on the NES version.)

None of those games save on the NES version. There's only about a handful of NES games, like Legend of Zelda, that have a save feature.

The only games I can think of off the top of my head that no one's mentioned are Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Super Mario Kart (both for the SNES). I also second the recommendation for the Donkey Kong Country series.

NES means Dragon Quest/Warrior. Get III because it is simply an amazing RPG. IV is also very good if you like good stories.

SNES means Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy IV/II, Final Fantasy VI/III, and other games I can't think of at the moment.

Those are some good RPG's I can think of off the top of my head.

Almost forgot an important one; Ys III: Wanderers from Ys for the SNES or Genesis. It's not nearly as good as the PC remake, but it's still awesome. The Valestein Castle theme is still rockin'.

and Super Castlevania IV and Castlevania Bloodlines. Can't forget those guys.
