Anyway, guys, I probably won't be able to get on as much because I've learned just how busy I'll be.

Exhibit 1: Marching band

So, I knew that we had a parade for the local Beef and Bean Day, and I knew that we were going to be in a competition for the state fair down in Pueblo, but recently our band director gave us a basic schedule of the things planned for our marching band.

Holy shit dude we have so many parades and stuff man.

I didn't really pay attention to most of them, but apparently we are staying overnight in Grand Junction for state. My brain exploded when my mom pointed that out to me. I wasn't expecting that, but hey, I've known some of these people since elementary school. This will be awesome fun.

Exhibit 2: GEEK

In case you're wondering, GEEK stands for the Gaming Enthusiasts and Experts Klub (probably made it a K just to be funny). It's basically a club made up of people who like to play board games (and also stuff like D&D). They've even made up their own game involving ships that they made out of popsicle sticks; one of my senior friends called it "Battleship on steroids." All us freshman who joined were given a huge packet (like 20 pages or something) on the rules.

We apparently have club activities though. Most people were talking about staying in the school for the weekend and having a game orgy (not really an orgy, I'm the only girl). We were also talking about having a skit for homecoming, and one kid was discussing the WKUK (which he said stood for "whitest kids you know," a funny and sometimes inappropriate group from New York). We also plan on making a huge version of the ship game that takes up the whole cafeteria, and having a donation box that, when full, lets us have a pizza party. Meetings are every Wednesday night until around 5:00.

Exhibit 3: Science Club

The first meeting isn't actually until tomorrow, but I got the teacher who runs it (he also runs GEEK) to tell me a bit about it.

Apparently we will be doing:

1. An aquatic reef study
2. Some entymology, actually gathering specimens of insects and mounting them like in museums (I instantly told him about my intense fear of bees and wasps, which were also in the case with dragonflies and beetles and stuff).
3. Food science. Apparently we will get to make bacon and cook our bacon and eat each other's bacon.
4. A cage boil, with crayfish and stuff. My mom told me their spicy, though, so I'm not sure if I'll eat much their (I don't like anything spicy).
5. A spaghetti dinner at the teacher's house, followed by a night of playing video games. I was kind of disappointed though when I asked him what kind of games and he said, "Usually Halo."

I'm pretty sure he told me about other stuff that I forgot.

And finally, I have bought TLoZ: Twilight Princess. I just finished my first runthrough and it was awesome and I am probably going to kill my poor Wii before I calm down about it.

I managed to get some pictures from GEEK, by the way. If I someday figure out how the hell to get pictures from my phone to the Internet and upload them and stuff, I will probably post them somewhere.

((Can't remember who I first heard say that... I think it was Flora and Ashes))

That was the name of my 8th grade Reading Olympics team! So i think it was me.

GEEK and the Science Club sound really nifty though. I'm sure you'll be having a lot of fun!

Congrats on joining the "GEEK Phalanx" (my own personal phrase). I currently am taking Science Olympiad at my high school.
Also, Twilight Princess is undoubtedly one of THE most awesome Zelda games in existence. I played through it on GC, and that exhilerated me. The game deserves to be stuffed in a jar labeled " Awesomesauce"

Oooh, RespectTheBlade, another SciOly person! I do Science Olympiad and am in my school's Anime Club :)

Congrats, shadow_lugia! Sounds fun!

5. A spaghetti dinner at the teacher's house, followed by a night of playing video games. I was kind of disappointed though when I asked him what kind of games and he said, "Usually Halo."

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that this is the ending part of an activity called Hunt the Freshman. Basically the freshman are given a message that they have to give to someone at their house (usually the mayor), dropped off a mile or two away, given a map and guide (usually the teacher's son, he said), and the sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Science Club go look for us and try to tag us to get us out. With inflatable hammers.

So the State Fair is tomorrow and I'm kind of nervous because last year some kid had to go to the hospital, and I'm sure that'll be me because the parade is 2 miles, longer than I've ever walked at once in my entire life.

Awesome! I love extracurricular activities. I'm in field band, Sci Olympiad, NYSML, Stage Band, and plan on joining Mock Trial.
But GEEK and Science club sound really fun, I wish our school had a program like that.
(Incidentally, which instrument do you play in the marching band?)

What events?

I got first place in Ecology in both regionals and States last year, and also first in Division B Bio-process Lab. I've also done Crave the Wave (when it was an event) and I had to sub for someone once in Solar System.

I'm just moving to Division C this year, and I'm definitely doing Ecology again ^^ I try to avoid the building events, though. :P

last year, when I was in B division, I did Ecology, Pentathlon, Dynamic planet and Microbe Mission (an event in which I medaled 4th at state.)
This year, I don't know what I'll be doing, but I'm sure microbe mission will be on there.

So uh we had the parade yesterday. I live in northern Colorado and we had to go all the way down to Pueblo, so I woke up at 4 in the morning to get ready. We had to be at the high school by 5, so that we could pack up our uniforms and instruments and everything in a Uhaul.

We were just about to leave, and the drum major came up and told everyone (via whisper in ear) that it was our band director's birthday, and that when he counted to three in the back we would all sing Happy Birthday to him. We all did that, and then everyone slumped over and fell asleep. Some people brought pillows and blankets; they had more foresight than me.

So we made a rest stop, and there was a huge line for the bathroom. Then I found out that there was another (hidden!) bathroom in the back and only two other people were in line for it. We bought some snacks and got back on the bus, and the guy across from me was all like, "They make orange Mountain Dew?" (that's my favorite kind) and I was all, "Yes, what planet do you live on."

So we got to Pueblo, got our uniforms on, got our instruments out, drank like two bottles of water each, warmed up, and then stood around for an hour or two waiting for the parade to begin. It really sucked because we were all marching and playing for two miles when it was 90 degrees (F) outside, and our shoes suck and made my feet sore. My feet are still really sore and I am bound to get blisters.

So we ate lunch (and more importantly drank a lot of soda and water) and got back on, then went to the actual fair to play a few songs for competition (while standing still, thank God). After we finished other bands were going to play until 6 in the afternoon, then they would hold the awards. We had about three hours left, so everyone went back to the Uhaul, put away their instruments, took off their uniforms (with much relief), and wandered off in groups around the fair. I went off with three of my classmates, and nothing really notable happened. However, I saw a game stall where all of the stuffed animal prizes were Pokemon (except for the small prizes). I tried to win one but couldn't, so I got a small whale stuffed animal that was blue on top, white on bottom, and had a red mouth. I named it Kyogre because it was close enough.

Then we all went to the awards ceremony and got to see all the drum majors in their uniforms. Thankfully ours weren't the weirdest. We won first place marching band in 1A/2A category bands (think it's based on size, the category), with a check for $200 for our school. Our band went wild and started wishing a happy birthday to our band director, who I didn't recognize at first because he wasn't wearing his glasses and his hair was kind of flattened from the heat and wind.

We all got back on the bus to head home, but first we stopped for dinner at a little center with a lot of small restaurants. I ate Arby's with a lot of other people, then went back out and walked to the Italian restaurant to talk with some other friends there. Along the way, we walked by Burger King and saw that all our classmates in there were wearing the little paper crowns. The people at the Italian restaurant started talking about their penises (the boys, that is), so I made them stop and they brought like 20 leftover breadsticks onto the bus. Then everyone went to Baskin Robins for ice cream, and then we all went home.

So we got to the high school again and it was like 10:30, and everyone was really tired and had fallen asleep on the way home. Freshmen had to clean the bus, and everyone left about a million little scraps behind for us. We finished, put our instruments in our lockers, and then went home. I got home at 11 and went straight to bed, so you can see why I didn't post this yesterday.

Oh and also I play trumpet.
