Ōkami

Zhorken

groove out!
Pronoun
they or she
I only bought it today and am not terribly far yet, but so far it is absolutely great. |3!!! Aside from Issun but hey oh well.

DISCUSS. I'll probably post with more substance later on; I'm just eager to make a thread. :(

EDIT: Minor pedantry: a line over the "O" is correct and "Oo" is correct; a simple "O" is not. (Ōkami or Ookami; not Okami.)

I got the Wii version despite not really liking the Wiimote because I figured that, given the gameplay style, a PS2 controller would just be super-awkward to use.

I thought that too, but apparently a lot of reviews say it's even harder to draw accurately with the Wii remote.

I could kind of believe that I guess; it's a little shaky, but not so shaky that it's been a hindrance so far. I guess if you sit a fair distance from the sensor bar it could be a pain; I sit about 3 m away and I'm fine.

I'll definitely need to try this out. Once I have money. Which could be awhile... *glares at Tales of Vesperia, FFXIII, and Sonic Unleashed eating away at his wallet*

Can someone please kill Issun. Please.

Love this game; beaten it, on my second playthrough to get moar stuff, and um I love it. 8D I have the Wii version, and it took quite a while to get used to drawing the different symbols; I found out I was too far away from the screen, and wasn't registering half the things I drew even though it clearly appeared on screen. >:( Also, I hate the celestial brush technique "Bloom". It's so bloody finicky on where you need to draw the circle on the tree in order for it to work!

One of the main reasons why I loved this game was definitely its length. I love really long games with super complex plots. Although the game seemed a bit rushed at the beginning, but probably only because you have like two brush techniques. Near the end, it slows down quite a bit.

DISCUSSION TOPICS. Favorite character? Mine's definitely Waka; the second I saw him I got all excited about fighting a crazy bird man with wings and a freaky sword. I mean seriously what -is- that thing?

One aspect I do not like about Ōkami are the battles. For bosses, it's actually pretty good, but for common enemies? It grows incredibly tedious after a while, and the graive really bothers me. I almost always use Rosaries~

I'm only up to the Agata Forest, but it's great. Could someone who's beaten it tell just how far I am in the game?

And combat is annoying on the Wii version, if only because waving the Wiimote like I thought i should doesn't work, but lightly flicking my wrist usually works. It's still fun running around shouting "I AM DRAWING THINGS AND THEY APPEAR HOLY SHIT".

I haven't beaten it yet, but I've got it on the PS2 and I love it, especially the style <3
I wish they'd brought it out on the Wii before, though.

I have the Wii Version, and, after a bit of practice, I can do almost any brush technique without fail...except bloop. And, on the water, Lotus, because it assumes that I'm trying to do stream the water around.

However, I love the games storyline and characters...even Issun, though he is a very small and green version of Zelos.

Hey screw you Zelos is cool. :( Issun's just annoying.

Ookami's plot is pretty damn simple. o.o

I'm a fair bit into the game; I just finished retrieving orbs from the canine warriors. I haven't played in a couple of days, though. (On a side note, the Wiimote still, expectedly, hurts to hold after an hour or two.)

I have the PS2 version. I haven't got far. I reckon the Celestial Brush'd be much better with a Wiimote, but the Wii version was an extra £27.

Ookami = love. I adore it. I'm on Oni Island right now, after a long time spent surfing around trying to avoid the Water Dragon because I'm so cautious. I don't want to get hurt. XD And then getting attacked by acid. Not fun... I wish I never learned Fleetfoot. ><

Me: *hand slips*
Ammy: *jumps back into drop of acid falling from ceiling*
Me: *twitch* Arrrgh!
(x10)

Yes, I have it for the Wii. I sucked at Power Slash before, but now it's so easy! Still, Bloom and Water Spout suck because my hand is shaky. >< I need to press Z and cheat to draw a straight line for Water Spout. XDIssun is funny, Waka is awesome and I simply adore the Canine Warriors music. <3 Ammy's howl is just pure epic.

Yes, wolf fanatic, so watch me fangirl over the howls in the game. XD

I love this game, but... Issun is a little annoying.

The art is amazing. The theme of the game is amazing. Definitely deserved the 9.5, minus .5 for Issun.

Drawing with the Wiimote is easy for me, not shaky, not problem, but that's probably because I have a steady hand to begin with...

Oh man when I had to draw myself a mask I drew a >:3 face and it was the best thing ever.

I just met Orca; apparently I'm just over halfway done the game. It's a hell of a lot longer than I expected, though the plot is still pretty light. (Which I like. A more intricate plot wouldn't really suit the game.)

I'm still having absolutely no problems pulling off techniques. Eh.

I avoid enemy scrolls and run away when I do get into battles 8) The experience system is dealt with completely outside of battles so I just don't bother. I only ever attack with rosaries too; the reflectors are much more useful as shields. Similarly, the rosaries are useless as offhand weapons because the main weapon equipped already *serves* as a weapon and a shield is pretty damn useful.

Hee, I drew a triforce. >:D And the imps just kept admiring it. *feels proud* When I looked at the map for the first time, I thought you need to go all over Nippon. Still not sure, since I a little over halfway done. Foxes are annoying... Especially dancing, ink-eating ones! >>

haha did you notice how a bunch of the walls in Sei-an City have the pattern you used for your mask on them? They were gone after I lifted the curse, but it was still funny seeing >:3 on all the walls.
