Eh, it seems fairly sensible that whatever force or energy allows them to perform such feats would be present in greater amount in their body than in their attacks.

Well, it's just part of the way their world works; they don't really have a reason to mention it. I mean, how often do you say aloud "Oh, I'm so glad we have gravity to hold us to the surface of the planet and stop us from flying off into space"?

Usually they avoid the open flames. The only other one I can think of was the emphasis on Ash's Charmander's tail, and later as a Charizard
 
Slugma and Magcargo, for one thing, and then there's the ones like Magmortar that look like they would be very hot even if they're not actively aflame. Plus Ash touched a Rotom, which is made of plasma.

I don't think Magmortar would be as hot. It's dex entry only specifies a white hue from fire launching, not that its from heat

Is that supposed to be fire on Magmortar? Looks more like the hair its predecessors have
 
They'd still be injuriously hot to the touch. And take a look at its Black and White animated sprite.
