• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Public displays of affection

I don't mind mild PDA. Hell, it happens with my friends at lunch. Two of them are dating, and it's not uncommon for them to just randomly kiss each other. I just get to the verge of laughing and keep playing cards. Same with holding hands. In fact, that's pretty much the only PDA that I actually do. Sometimes my boyfriend kisses me, but that's about it.

To actually get back on topic: I don't mind PDA if it doesn't get out of hand. If I see a couple making out in the hallway, though, I tend to glare at them and then stare at the floor until they're out of sight.

I don't mind. What really pisses me off, though, is that all but one of my mates hate it. If the girl is ugly. And the mate who doesn't mind, is because he's the only person in the school who displays public affection.
It is kind of awkward though, when you get to school half an hour early, and they're the only two there. You feel like hiding, so that they don't see you, but then you realise that if someone does see you hiding, you'd look even worse.
It's especially fun when the taxi turns up an hour early during your GCSEs.

In short, I don't mind, as long as I have company, so as not to look dirty or something.

Yeah... I have NEVER seen anyone having sex in a public place. o_O This might be because nobody in Britain probably ever HAS... X3

Also, not true. When I was about 8, on an Easter egg hunt, I came across two teenage girls. It seems hillariously unbelievable, now that I think about it, but damn I wish I could remember it properly. ;D

Kissing, hugging, that's all fine. Making out and/or groping each other while the entire general area watches either in envy, disgust, or amusment? Not so much. Keep it in your pants, kids.

Ah, but they are keeping it in their pants. They have fucking so it's all good.

I don't have a problem with kissing, holding hands, hugging. As long as they don't get in the way. If they get a little... agressive and start making out and touching like crazy then I'd prefer they did it somewhere out of the public eye. Because when they get more passionate I think they should be alone, because, like Phyro said it's a bit demeaning to themselves and makes it awkward for others. Especially if there are parents and children around.

I honestly don't care if I see two people making out, kissing, or hugging, because it doesn't bother me. But if there are younger children around, then I usually think it's wrong to do it in public. However, if you're, say, around my age or older and you're making out with someone and you're with a group of others your age, I wouldn't consider it that bothering.
Making motions like groping or touching, though, does make me want to yell 'Get a room!' if they're doing it in public. And having sex in public I do find awkward.

neither would it be good for the kids
It'd be pretty inappropriate for children too.
I do agree it's kind of inappropriate for children

Okay, I have a question for all of you-

What's wrong with children seeing basically one of the main things our bodies are designed to do? Certaintly it's better for them then the slapstick that can be found in like any cartoon. Not saying that cartoons should be all xxx pr0nfests or that young children should be going out and having sex or anything but. Seriously.

I am against sex in public, but that's just because it's kinda gross and unsanitary.

(And yes, I am so micromanaging that I'd go through a whole thread just to find quotes about sex + kids = bad)

I'd rather tell my children when they're about six what sex is instead of them seeing two randoms having sex in the park.

yeah okay I'm suddenly some kind of conservative, hurrah. I'm a big supporter of using proper words when talking to kids (penis, vagina, etc) instead of baby words and answering all their questions because it's better for them to be educated. But you can't show children graphic sex because they're not mentally prepared to register sex like we do, and they often grow up completely stunted sexually.
I mean you might as well ask why kids shouldn't have sex.

I'm not a big believer of 'sex talks' and I think the method of just informing your child as they grow up is much better. Less awkward and boring for eveyone involved.

err also i kind of scrapped my pda rules the past few days when I hung out in Brussels

making out in parks = awesome
