... I am sorry, but the sites I use for information on upcoming games have not mentioned that the airport has even been confirmed to have a purpose. There was a Space Center in RSE, yet all the persistant rumors of going to the moon were untrue. Just because there's an airport doesn't mean it does anything, much less transports us to older regions. Furthermore, Isshu has been confirmed to be much further away from the previous regions than they are from themselves, and Black & White have a transfer machine for Sinnoh to Isshu and Johto to Isshu transfers. The only possible region that would be remade or featured in these games is Hoenn. But why have the airport visit Hoenn and not the other regions? Said regions are supposedly "close" to each other in comparison to their distance from Isshu, so a tiny bit more flight time or even a simple second flight should not be impossible. But why go through having all five regions in a single game when three are already in the previous generation, which is compatible with said single game? And if you don't do that, why include another that serves no purpose at all other than fun? So I really don't think Hoenn will be featured in Black & White, or their third companion. If it IS featured, I will expect and demand that all five be in Black & White.
I also don't think Hoenn will be remade in Generation V, if ever. While a pattern has been set up, it cannot be established. As pointed out previously, Hoenn is not as out-of-date at this time in it's life as Johto was. Hoenn can function perfectly for anyone who doesn't care about berries or time based events, like Eevee's evolution. I don't think there are more than a hundred people who still play RSE competitively, and Hoenn has since been rendered obsolete by events and wild pokemon. You can catch every pokemon ever imagined in Generation IV, and thus you can transfer every existing pokemon to Black & White, which will hold all new, non-event pokemon. So Hoenn remakes have no logical point. And if they DO make them, we'll all expect DPPl remakes in Generation VI. That will never happen. Two generations in a row have been for the Nintendo DS, so I have a feeling that DPPl will be compatible with Nintendo handhelds for ages to come.
Yes, I am aware that there will be some people that want remakes just for fun, just for nostalgia, or just to see how they might render Hoenn, but there will never be nearly as much pull for Hoenn remakes as there were for Johto remakes. Generation II was the height of the pokemon craze, when every kid you knew loved the show, had at least one of the games, and collected the cards. Generation II is the favorite of many fans, and the most praised generation in reviews. Gold & Silver recieved a 10/10 from IGN, with not a single criticism. I even still play my Silver (which amazingly hasn't lost use of it's internal bettery yet, though I used to play it religously) on occasion, even though my favorite games were (ironic, based on the argument I'm trying to support) RSE. Ruby & Sapphire were a vast improvement in graphics, variety, storyline, and setting, in my opinion, and remain my favorite video games. Emerald expanded even further on the greatness of Hoenn, with a more complex storyline and the inclusion of the Battle Frontier. However, the gameplay was, as a whole, worse than GSC - while the second generation had admittedly sucky graphics, less pokemon (which could be a plus or minus, depending on yor opinion), no real storyline, and a setting which appeals to more traditional taste than exotic, they provided the framework for much of the series to come. They introduced more types and more type combinations; shiny pokemon; more memorable legendaries such as the dogs; and they set a pattern for introducing pseudo-legendaries and legendary archetypes like trios, duos, the "cute" legendaries, and masters.
Yes, Generation I started those, but Generation II establshed the patterns, and Generation III built on them.
For those reasons, I believe RSE remakes are illogical and unlikely to be created. :P
I'm probably rambling on pointlessly and making hollow, weak arguments, but hey, I'm bored.
