D/P/Pt Shinies while chaining?

Darksong

Back in action!
I'd like to know by how much the chancees increase of getting a shiny each time you get a Pokemon past 40 while chaining. This concerns me because this morning I was chaining Pidgey, and I got up to 54. Still no shiny. Getting a shiny Pidgey to make up for the one I lost a year ago is my biggest aim in Diamond, and I failed yet another chance.
So, if you know, could you please tell me? Thanks. :)

One in two hundred per patch, one in fifty if four patches shake. You don't need to extend your chain beyond forty, just so you know.

That's not what I heard; I heard that it increases to 0.08% after 40, which is still startlingly low, but it's significantly higher than otherwise. But 40 is special.

I extend it to get more of a chance each time I get a Pokemon. If I stopped the chain, I would have to start all over. If I kept resetting it, I would run out of Max Repels. Thanks for the info anyway; I hope I get a third chance in the near future. And if anyone knows for sure what the answer to my question is, I'd like to hear their opinion. Thank you.

The more you chain, the higher your chances are of finding a shiny.

But that doesn't mean you will. It's all chance. Just keep at it.

Thanks for the info. But I'm looking for something that tells me the approximate chance of it. I already know that I am more likely to get a shiny when I chain higher. Thanks anyway. Too bad Pidgey only swarms very rarely, or I would try again. I've been chaining for three months, and not a single shiny.

This is the formula dictating the chance of finding a shiny pokémon:

To find the chance of finding a shiny with a chain of any length, simply plug the chain length in for "n*sub*c" and solve. As you can see, you cannot increase the chance of finding a shiny above a chain of forty, as this would result in a /0 error (or cause the chance to start decreasing again if at 42 or above).
