• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Spiders in my room!

Valerunner

Probably shouldn't be here.

I got two now!

I got Alphonse(grey with a white stripe running through the body) who lives near my window, and a new one I found on my ceiling! It's brown, a slim abdomen and seems to have a black cross running from the chest to the end of the abdomen. What should I name it?

Call it Clarence. Clarence is a good name for a spider.

I clicked this thread expecting to read of a mass arachnid invasion, but I guess not :3 Still, I guess that'd hardly be Laughing Cupboard material...

Could be.

I kinda like spiders in my room because they keep the bugs out. They still creep me out a bit, but it's better than being invaded by a moth or those fat bugs with the stingers.

And I think it's a she, it likes Alphonse a lot.

You're keeping them?

When I saw this the Laughing Cupboard I thought I was going dillusional...
Of course I'm keeping them. They're the cleanest pets around; they keep bugs out and they don't poop or chew on your stuff.

For a second there, I thought there were TWO Coughing Cupboards due to a glitch or something x.x

Anyways, if they have different colours, then they are likely different species, which means the brown one MAY be seeing if it can take the first spider D:

I called in a friend of mine and she said that they were the same species but with a different coloring due to evolution; Alphonse grew where the cities were and his species changed coloring to protect themselves and the new guy grew in the countryside.

Kind of like a Caucasian guy and a Middle Eastern girl.

If they are the same species, and really are male and female, then Alphonse better watch his back if this new one likes him. Most male spiders will get the axe when they get into a relationship.

But it's good to know that people still like spiders. :D

Yes, good point, seeing as spiders practise sexual cannibalism.

It's only the Widow spiders (which the duo are related to) and some Jumper spiders that do that, fortunately.

^ Yeah, they've got the right idea. XD

Aww, Grim's making new friends! :D

I like having spiders to keep the little bugs out. I get rid of them in winter, though, because there aren't many little bugs and they make webs all over the place.

I think you should call the second spider Anansi because it's a cool name and I always call my Ariados that X3

*Whimpers and dies.* x_x

But if you really must insist on naming it, let me add Arachne to the suggestions. Not that the other names that have been suggested so far aren't lovely... if you like spiders. *Shudder.*

I finally named her Anansi, and I asked my Bio teacher if they WERE sexual cannibals.

Fortunately, no.

Yay! The spider hath been named! Its like the lizard in my room, ChiChi! I donno why me buddies call me weird for that...But, anyway... Yay! Spiders!
