Arena Description: The Second Anomaly
The Second Anomaly is, as its name suggests, an Anomaly. Arceus only knows how the battlers got there or how they'll get out, but such is the way of the universe. Also unknown is how anyone can see, being as there are no visible light sources, but it is as bright as a typical midsummers midday. It is, at least to begin with, an infinitely large plain white platform floating in nothing. As the battle goes on, however, that platform changes to whatever is required by the battle - if, for example, there is a fish Pokémon on the field, there will be a large pond to swim in. There will be air for everyone can breathe. If Sandstorm is used, sand appears. And so forth. The gravity there is only half of Earth's, so each Pokémon is only half as heavy for things like Grass Knot. This also removes any energy cost that Flyers or Hoverers would need to fly or hover, be they Inherently or Consentually.

The most important effect of this Anomaly is that at the end of each round, both Pokémon in battle will randomly 'evolve' into any other Pokémon. This can be any Pokémon in existence, including Legendaries. This means they gain the new species' ability, moveset, types, everything. Also, the Pokémon are dazed and confused after this 'evolution', so as soon as the first round is complete and the first 'evolution' has taken place, the Pokémon can't listen to any commands and their moves are selected randomly, similar to Sleep Talk.

Another of the major effects of the Second Anomaly is that at the end of every round, at the same time as the 'evolutions', both battlers' energy is restored to 100%. Not infinite energy, note, so if a Pokémon uses incredibly energy-intensive moves, it could, at least in theory, faint from energy loss. As though to compensate for this, and healing moves will automatically fail or, if indirect like Giga Drain, will only cause damage.

The last effect of note is that at the beginning of every third round, a random object will appear. Any object, from sardines to submarines, and they can appear in any manner the ref wants. What they do is also entirely up to the ref. They vanish at the end of the round, again in a manner of the ref's choosing.

Well, since it doesn't matter who I choose beyond the first round... Come on out, Niwá.
One step closer to evolution, hey.

Well, go China, then.

Okay, let's spam Hypnosis, just in case the little bugger turns into Dialga or something. If it falls asleep the first time you use it, use Extrasensory. If it doesn't work the first round, but it does on the second, use Payback. Then, just hope for something that doesn't have Insomnia.

Hypnosis~Hypnosis/Extrasensory~Hypnosis/Payback

Uh I dunno, try Gravity until it's sucessful then spam Earthquake. If you're asleep at any point then use Sleep Talk. Here's hoping you wind up something cool and not a Magikarp.

In the beginning, there was nothing.

Then, there was Linoone.

The Linoone that had suddenly materialized in the vast nothingness and flailed around, trying to not die when it finally lands on the ground. It took the Linoone a good few minutes before it realized that it was not, in fact, falling, and it was somehow standing on nothing at all. The Linoone made a small squeaking sound and hoped that nobody saw it dancing around like a mad fish, only to find two trainers staring at it with eyebrows raised.

"Derp," the Linoone said and made a mental note to itself to read the arena descriptions before deciding to ref the battle. Pulling out two referee flags from its crimson beret, the Linoone-now-turned-referee waved the cheap plastic flags in the air. "Stop looking at me like that. Send out your pokemon already so I can get my paycheck."

One of the trainers by the name of Squornshellous Beta (who has somehow turned into a giant robot) tossed out a pokeball first, a little clay doll materializing in a flash of light. The other trainer, who was, for some strange reason or the other, emitting pure evil vibes, followed up and sent out a blueish gray plate. The two genderless pokemon stared at each other (there wasn't much else to stare at in the nothingness), emotionless.

"Riiiight. Round one start!" With a wave of the referee flags, the RNG gods are officially summoned to the battle to drink tea and watch the misfortune and chaos that will occur. The Linoone had a nagging feeling that it had forgotten about something. Whatever. It sat down in the nothingness and started reading the arena descriptions.

Round 1

The Chinese-sounding clay doll moved first. Eyes glowing a mysterious red, Ní Wá Wa used its psychic powers to bend space-time, making Einstein turn in his grave (not like the existence of this arena wasn't doing so already, but). The battlers suddenly felt a powerful tug downwards towards where the ground would be, and the referee abruptly found itself sitting on the pure white platform, with a very sore butt. The Bronzor and Baltoy followed, the pull of Gravity too strong for them to stay hovering anymore -- Ní Wá Wa landed gracefully on its foot-thing while China hit the ground with a clash.

China, for one, was not amused. It stared at its opponent, eyes glowing red as it sent out mental waves to get the Baltoy to fall asleep. The Hypnosis would have worked if China could find the Baltoy's eyes. Alas, the Baltoy's squinty Asian eyes made the attempt useless, and Ní Wá Wa continued whatever it was trying to do before -- that is, jumping up and landing on the ground a lot harder than something with its mass should have been able to. The platform rippled as the shockwave from the landing surged across the whiteness, smacking the fallen Bronzor and making it bounce around, metal clashing against the platform. When the Earthquake finally passed, China was a lot more battered than before, as was the referee.

The Bronzor struggled against the strong Gravity and managed to stand itself up and locked eyes with the Baltoy. Or at least it was pretty sure that it locked eyes with the Baltoy. Eyes glowing an eerie red, China sent waves of calm thoughts and sleepy feelings toward its opponent, who seemed to blink and started slowly rocking back and forth. Then, the Baltoy fell forward with a small thud, landing on its face. China was pretty sure it meant that the Baltoy was asleep... Which meant that it was safe for now, right?

However, Ní Wá Wa wasn't done yet. It muttered something under its breath, and its eyes gained a soft, white glow. A beam of white light suddenly shot out from the clay doll's pointy head, smacking China on the side and bouncing off the shiny surface, leaving one referee flag sizzling. China blinked. The attack didn't hurt much, but it still wanted revenge for the Earthquake before. The thought of the pain it has just went through coursed through the Bronzor's mind, shaping itself into a dark glow of energy around the plate. Bouncing across the white platform with some difficulty (if only that stupid doll hasn't used Gravity...!), China finally reached its opponent and smacked it across the head with the dark energy, sending the clay doll spinning. The Baltoy wobbled, seeming disturbed, but the glow in its eyes stayed dark.

Then, something seemed to happen, because all of a sudden, the sleeping Baltoy and the Bronzor disappeared. Standing in the Bronzor's place was a disheveled Noctowl with a very confused look on his face, and lying in front of that Noctowl was the sleeping form of a pink feline -- an Espeon.

The referee-Linoone suddenly snapped its fingers. "Oh! I remember what I was forgetting now! The pokemon are supposed to randomly transform into other random pokemon at the end of the round..."

The trainers watched with slight amusement as the implications of the rule slowly sank in.

"Oh snap," the referee-Linoone managed and suddenly turned into a Gastrodon.

Round 2

Seeing that the referee had no arms to wave the referee flag with, the pokemon decided to just start battling. Barubu seemed intent on shouting something to China, but the Bronzor-turned-Noctowl was too busy trying to figure out how to move his newly gained limbs to listen. Ní Wá Wa, who should be renamed Mao Mi now, slumped on the white platform, snoozing away. China flexed his wings, tripped over his feet, and tried to walk around, which was really hard with the enhanced Gravity. Turning around, he wiggled his tail feathers and did a little dance to the side. Having limbs is fun! China continued his awkward dance, trying to get a hang of pulling all those muscles and feathers to make himself move.

His dance got a lot less fun when it suddenly started raining. The rain would usually just slide off his metallic body, but it was now sticking to his newly gained feathers, making him resemble a soggy dishrag after a few minutes. The rain seemed to slap some sense in to the sleeping form of the Espeon, because, muttering something under his breath, Ní Wá Wa suddenly stood up and sauntered over to where China was standing and did what the Espeon probably thought of as a very sexy pose. China just found it disturbing. His opponent's weird actions reminded China that he was in a battle and he should attack. The problem was how. Boss Barubu told him to do some weird attack thing, so he supposed he should try gathering energy or something. His body glowing a soft white, China bounced over to the Espeon and whacked him on the head with a wing. The cat shifted from the pain but still remained unconscious. Suddenly, space-time, not exactly happy at being bent, bounced back to its original state, and the pokemon on the area all suddenly felt lighter.

Noting the occasionally twitching, but still very much asleep, form of the Espeon, China was feeling pretty darn proud of himself. He had figured out how to use attacks in his new body! Yeah! Puffing out his chest , he strutted around, basking in the glory of how awesome he was. The Espeon didn't seem to notice his swagger, however, and continued to snooze in the rain.

The referee noted that sometimes rain is pretty good, although it could be that it had turned into a giant slug.

... Or tiny owl, it decided a second later, and tipped over on its one leg. Life would be easier if it could figure out how to untuck its leg from under its belly.

At the same time, with a most uninteresting "poof" sound, the two pokemon on the field turned into a sleeping Gastly and strutting Clefable respectively.

Round 3

With the rain still pouring and the referee still immobilized, China decided to attack first. Or try to attack first, anyway, because the energy she (wait a second. Since when did he became a she?) had gathered decided to form itself into a veil around her instead of hitting her sleeping opponent. After batting at the shiny shroud of energy, the Clefable sighed and contented herself with the fact that she no longer had icky wet feathers to worry about, unlike the referee.

Ní Wá Wa, who had been a feline a mere minute ago, floated a few inches off the platform, still asleep, but not for long. The heavy torrent of rain rushing down from somewhere above the platform (China couldn't figure out where the rain was coming from exactly. There were no clouds of any sort, and every time she looked up, rain fell into her eyes and obscured her vision) pelted the gas ball and finally woke it up. The not-Baltoy looked to his trainer for instructions, only to find Squornshellous Beta twiddling her thumbs. He decided that he should probably attack, since he was in a battle and all.

Wait a second. Since when did he have a gender?

The Gastly called up energy within himself and shot it out, trying to damage the pink fairy with it. However, being completely unused to his new body, the energy formed itself into multicolored balls that orbited harmlessly around China, who stared at the shiny lights through her energy veil with amusement. Shiny!

Shininess aside, the veil was obscuring her vision and China wasn't able to see the confusing lights well enough to be distracted by them. Gathering energy in her forearms-that-used-to-be-wings-that-used-to-not-exist, China whacked the floating gas ball on the head (well it was all head, but) in an attempt at an attack. It seemed to work, because dark energy flared from her arm and made Ní Wá Wa wince. It didn't seem to do much damage though, and Ní Wá Wa retaliated by sending out another burst of energy -- which, incidentally, formed itself into little multicolored spheres and started orbiting around China.

Well. Ní Wá Wa stared at the spheres, feeling a bit annoyed with himself. He was trying to attack, but... Well... Shiny... The Gastly decided that his new body was great, after all. He could make shiny light! That are shiny! And multicolored! And shiny!

China wasn't too pleased with the fact that she couldn't look at the shiny lights. They seemed so pretty beyond this weird energy veil, and she really wanted to look at them. Gathering her nasty thoughts, she concentrated and coughed out...

... A purple blob?

The Toxic sludge fell to the ground with a splat and sat, sizzling, between the two pokemon, completely missing its target. China stared at the Toxic with some distaste. It's unfair that she couldn't make pretty lights like that stupid gas ball could!

Just then, there was a really loud zapping sound and an Ostrich ran through the arena, squawking something about parakeets. (Nobody quite knew why the Ostrich was capitalized, but that's how life goes sometimes.) Instead of slowing down, the Ostrich sped up as he got closer to the battlers, raindrops trailing behind. A very loud "wham!" later, the battlers found themselves flying through the air as the Ostrich continued on its way across the arena, before trampling over the referee and disappearing with another strange zapping sound.

The two battling pokemon landed rather painfully (China's thankful that the Gravity's back to half), and, at the same time, there was a all-too-familiar "poof" sound and the referee turned into a rock.

Round 4

The transformation was sudden, and both pokemon were stunned by it for a while -- China mostly, because she had to get used to new muscles and things again. This time, she seemed to have gained flowers on her hands. At least her gender stayed the same this time... Waving her flower-hands around, she tried to figure out how to use attacks when she accidentally sliced the not-floating blob of not-gas with a thorn. Oops.

Ní Wá Wa, on the other hand, had been trying to figure out how to move around in his new body. After trying several methods of lifting himself without success, the Spiritomb settled to firing a random energy beam instead. That always works, right? Darkness gathered around one of his many mouths, soon forming itself into a sphere. Now if only he could figure out how to aim... Unable to hold on to the dark energy anymore, Ní Wá Wa let it go, hoping that it will hit his target. Thankfully (for Ní Wá Wa, not so much for China), China was close by and the pulse struck her in the chest, sending her tumbling back.

Pained by the attack, China instinctively lashed out with her psychic powers, only to realize that, in her new form, she didn't have any. Her mental signal seemed to have done something though, because, for a split second, she could feel the the state her opponent's body was in. Ní Wá Wa seemed to have noticed her attempt at reading minds, because he, too, tried to fight back with psychic energy. But whatever the Spiritomb was trying to do, it didn't work, because China was actually feeling a little bit better after that. While her chest still hurt from the Dark Pulse, the pain wasn't as bad. Ní Wá Wa, on the other hand, looked slightly more worse for wear than before...

All of a sudden, the weird green veil of energy surrounding China faded away. Weird. China blinked, trying to get used to seeing the arena without a green tint again. Well, it seemed like psychic powers weren't going to work here. China settled with doing the only thing she knew how -- that is, gathering energy in to one of her limbs (or flower, whatever) and whacking Ní Wá Wa on the head with it. To China's surprise, her flower-hand, while glowing with energy, went right through Ní Wá Wa's body. Annoyed, Ní Wá Wa glowered and sent nasty thoughts at China, making the Roserade feel a lot more tired than before for some reason she couldn't fathom. What is with the strange powers other pokemon have?

"Annnd Round 4 end," the referee rumbled, finally figuring out how to pick up its referee flags when its fingers are rocks and it was pouring like there was no tomorrow. Its efforts ultimately came to a waste when it spontaneously burst into flames, somehow setting both its referee flags on fire despite the heavy rain. "Aw, crap."

At the same time, a large pool spontaneously appeared underneath Ní Wá Wa, causing the poor pokemon to fall in. A little thrashing later, Ní Wá Wa discovered that he could, for some reason or another, breath underwater now. And he had also, for some reason or another, turned into a fish.

Notes:
- The RNG gods sure love Secret Power... This is what, the third time it's been rolled?
- Still no status or flinch or other interesting things
- Safeguard faded by the second action.
- Pain Split healed China instead of hurting her/him/it because she/he/it had more Health when it was used. But that was about 2% worth of damage, so it didn't really matter that much.
- Ni Wa is now a Feebas
- China is now a Yanma

Arena Notes:
- It's raining (1 more round)

Round 5

With the referee busy trying to put the fire out (SB and Barubu were staring at it angrily, especially since their snacks had just been set on fire), Ní Wá Wa decided to spend the time exploring. Having suddenly gained the ability to breath -- and breath underwater, at that -- the Feebas decided that, hey, taking some time off the battle to explore would be perfectly fine. It's not like his trainer was paying attention anyway. With a swift flick of the tail, Ní Wá Wa Dove down into the pool of water, trying to see if he could reach the bottom before his trainer notices. The pattering rain had made movement a lot easier, and, soon, the fish had swam to such great depth that China could not see it from the surface anymore.

The Yanma peered at the pool of water, trying to figure out where his opponent had gone. It didn't help that he had suddenly gained 360-degree vision and had changed genders again. China sighed and shot an energy ball into the water, which did nothing besides making a large splash.

If the weather was nice and sunny out, then the splash would've made a nice rainbow, China noted. Too bad it's still raining.

Meanwhile, Ní Wá Wa was getting worried. He had been swimming for so long that the water pressure was getting uncomfortable and light only barely filtered through the top, casting everything in a deep, startling blue-black. There was no bottom that he could see, and no sides either. If not for the fact that he was a fish and had an internal compass for these sort of things, he had to say that he was, in fact, completely lost. The Feebas peeked down at the deep, black abyss that should contain the bottom of the pool and decided that it was probably a better idea to get out before he was flattened by the water pressure. Turning to face what he was pretty sure was up, Ní Wá Wa swam as quickly as he could. The water rushed by his face, and, suddenly, he crashed through the surface and shot out of the pond -- and crashed right into a curious Yanma. The Dive attack sent the two pokemon reeling, Ní Wá Wa falling back into the pond while China cringed from the pain. The Yanma, in a state of complete disorientation (you try suddenly gaining 360-degree vision) and a whole lot of pain, let out a curse word.

Either that the curse word was really that bad, or somebody was really bored, because the platform rattled with energy and ancient spirits floated out (The arena notes lied! The referee exclaimed. There were people... things... here before! Meanwhile, the RNG gods whistled innocently), angry at being disturbed. Chunks of rock broke away from the platform and plummeted the Feebas, while China just watched with pure shock and silently made a note to himself to swear whenever he could just so he can get random ghosts to beat up his opponents.

Being hit by rocks is not fun. Ní Wá Wa concentrated energy into his mouth and felt the temperature drop for some absurd reason. Whatever. Ní Wá Wa let go, and a light-blue beam of icy energy shot out, striking Yanma on the side. The ice-cold energy seared into the dragonfly's body. China felt as if he was on fire. Then the cold set in. Shaking from the Ice Beam, China vibrated his wings, trying to warm himself up with no avail. What did happen though, was a sharp burst of wind blasting itself out from the fast vibrations and smacking into the Feebas and sending up a trail of water in its wake. It looked pretty impressive, but Ní Wá Wa didn't look too worse for wear and China still felt like he was dying.

The referee waved a referee flag (still on fire) and the rain stopped. Shocked, the referee looked at the flag and waved it again, and there was the all too familiar poof sound. The referee stopped burning for a split second, then promptly caught on fire again when the fire from the flaming flags spread down its now grassy arms.
