Knight of Void
Signups and OOC thread is here.

Many long years ago, a witch named Maleficent tried to destroy the worlds. Commanding a huge army of Heartless, strange creatures formed from the darkness in people’s hearts, she infiltrated the hearts of the worlds, attempting to swallow them in darkness. Before she was finally defeated by an unknown someone, many had actually been destroyed. Although those that had been lost were quickly revived upon her defeat, many of the inhabitants wanted to make sure that no one would forget what had happened, so that it would never happen again.

So what did they decide to do? Why, they’d write a book, of course! Loosely based off the events of Maleficent’s War, as they called it, Kingdom Hearts was a series of mainly fictional stories about a teenaged boy who, with the help of some strange friends and a strange weapon called a “Keyblade”, managed to beat Maleficent, as well as whatever other threats managed to come their way. It almost instantly became wildly popular, one of those classic series that lasts for a long time. Despite its beginnings as a warning for future generations, however, it was easy to believe that it was pure fiction; after all, Heartless were now virtually unknown, and those who had heard of them were certain that their numbers could never grow that much.

Unfortunately, this “fiction” was slowly becoming a reality. One world, at least, had already been destroyed, with only a few known survivors. One of them, a female with strong magical prowess, had heard a little of Maleficent and her attempted conquest of the worlds, and decided that she’s make everyone go through what she had; she’d train herself in dark magics, and using it, she would take control of the Heartless and consume all the worlds in darkness! This plan was sure to work, she thought, as no one yet knew what could slay Heartless. Wasting no time, she quickly took over a neighboring world and used it as her headquarters, starting her plan; the first step was to kidnap seven girls, the Princesses of Heart, to unlock a Door to Darkness.

A refugee of this stolen world, an aged wizard named Merlin, traveled to a little known spot, hovering on the line between darkness and light, and set up a town, to help others who had lost their worlds. While using his magic to set up an inn, he discovered eight bizarre objects, that looked strangely like key chains, inside a box, carefully labeled “Strength is measured by the Heart.” Having read the Kingdom Hearts series and believing that these objects were dormant Keyblades, Merlin took this to mean that only those with strong hearts could wield them, and, seeing the events that would quickly unfold, he used a copy of the first book in the Kingdom Hearts series to summon eight children whose hearts had enough strength to use these Keyblades to fight the hoards of Heartless that would inevitably try to defeat them.

The witch, noticing what Merlin had done, was alarmed; if these really were Keyblades, then her plan could be ruined! She thought of a backup plan; she could find eight other children, manipulate them into working for her, give them dark Keyblades of her own creation, and use them to fight Merlin’s Keyblade wielders, thus buying her time to gather the Princesses and destroy the worlds. She quickly did just that, forming a legion of her own Keybladers, wielders of darkness rather than light.

Will you be one of Merlin’s Keybladers, helping to save the worlds from certain doom? Or will you assist the witch as a Keyblader of darkness, manipulated into working for her or willingly cooperating? Or maybe you’re just there, helping one side or another? Whichever role you choose, know that you’re not alone.

"Blasted heartless..." A old man with a outrageously long beard muttered as he arrived at a strange town called "Traverse Town". He has made a inn to help the others who had their worlds destroyed. He had also chosen to live in a ramshakled house secret underground lake behind a large wooden door with a fire symbol emblazoned on it. He is quite furious becaues his world has been taken over by a evil witch and her army of heartless. After wandering around his temperary home, he stumbled upon a small box of sorts. Inside were 8 keychains, and after reading the famous 'Kingdom Hearts ' series, he belives that these are the Keyblades! And with it, he can finally defeat that wicked witch and take back all of the worlds that she took over. Through his excitement, he knew that he could't wield one due to his age. He was frustrated as he could not find a way to find these Keyblade wielders, until, he found a inscription, it read "Strength is measured by the Heart." That gave him an idea. First, he took the first book of the series, and cast a spell on it. With the spell, anyone who reads a copy of the book, and has a strong heart, he/she will be transported to this spot, and he will give them a keyblade.

But, unbeknownst to him that he was being watched. The witch, had seen wat had happened and was frighted that she will be stopped. In her haste, she cast a 'net' of sorts to catch anyone affected by Merlin's spell, and be redirected to her new palace in the newly named Hollow Bastion. Unfortunatly, she was in a haste to steal a few of the keychains, that her spell was weak, and only might redirect a few of the chosen people.

Kral had just walked back home from school after waving goodbye to Loius. Upon opening the front door of his house, he was expecting awelcome from his mother, but was only greeted with silence. Walking to the kitchen, he saw a note on it saying

"Will be on a business trip for a couple of days, food is in the fridge, please stay out of trouble."

Love, Mom

Seeing that he had the whole house to himself, he just dumped his stuff on the couch, and when looking for a book to read, he remembered a dream, where he was on a large glass platform and he had a Keyblade in his hands, and he had to fight both Heartless and Nobodies. As well as a giant Nobody. When metioning his bizarre dream to his friends and mother, they all said that he was reading the 'Kingdom Hearts' series to much. But he did not care, he picked up the first book of the series and started to read. But as soon as he opened it, he was suddenly flying through a "magic" tube of a strange blue liquid. He saw up ahead that there was a fork of sorts, and on the other side, it turned to a black fluid.

He found himself somewhat pulled to the dark liquid. But he easily resisted, and he finally saw the end, and saw the he was in a strange hotel in a strange world, surrounded by a man with shoulder length hair, and blue eyes, a woman with brown hair and wearing a pink dress, and a girl wearing a 'ninja' outfit and black hair.

Somehow, he managed to spit out "What the hell happened?

So... that pesky Merlin would try to stop her, would he? No... this wouldn't be.

Silydia was sitting within the deep recesses of her library, after she had cast the spell. She knew that it wouldn't get all of them... and this concerned her greatly. Her expression was troubled, as she could not help betray her worry. She ran a claw-like finger through her satin hair, in attempts to sooth her emotions.

Well... whatever happened... would happen.

And she waited for her spell to take effect, hoping that it would work. Praying, in fact...

"So Sheila... do you have any plans for tommorow?" The dark haired girl sighed sadly, peering at her friend over the tops of her spectacles. She felt sort of terrible, for some reason. As if something bad was going to happen. But she was also melancoly about other things as well.

It was quite unusual of her to act in such a way, as she would mostly be making some witty or sarcastic comment. She wasn't sure why she felt so... blah. Perhaps it was the fact that her mother had screamed at her today, perhaps it was the fact that yet again, several people had bullied her and called her strange. She could ignore and shrug it off with her biting comments most of the time, but today was just...

An off-day. A day that seemed different. She didn't much feel the energy to make some sassy comment.

And unbeknowest to her, it was indeed a very unusual day...

"Nope, no plans... Atty, you feeling alright?"

Sheila brushed her black hair out of her face as she peered up at her friend with her amber-yellow eyes. The people, they usually thought she looked like a Heartless and therefore avoided her. She was lucky to find a friend in Atnura.

But she couldn't help being concerned. Atnura wasn't usually like this, not at all.

It was probably something personal though. If she didn't want to talk about it, Sheila would let it go. So she picked up the book on the counter by the table. Kingdom Hearts. The first one. It was her second readthrough of the series, but the second book was her favorite. The Organization was just so damn endearing for villains. Especially the musical one. She liked him.

Sheila had an... uneasy feeling, as she thumbed her way toward the bookmark she'd left. As if something was about to happen.

And happen it did. The next thing she knew, she was being pulled through a portal into the book. She grabbed Atnura's wrist, crying out "Help! Help me!" as she did so.

...Then the next thing she knew, she saw blue fluid, and a fork in some sort of tunnel thing, leading to blackness. The blackness... it tried to pull her in, but she pulled toward the other tunnel as hard as she could. She wasn't even sure if she still had a death grip on Atnura's wrist, but that didn't matter.

...And then the next thing she knew, she was plopped in front of an old man, in a town she'd never seen before.

Xhan stared blankly at the wall. Today had just been plain dull. Even reading seemed like a good idea right now. Xhan shrugged, and stepped out of the old empty house. He went straight to the library, which, in the past, had not been his friend.

Xhan, having dropped out to steal in the streets while he was still in school, wasn't exactly the best reader. Nonetheless, he felt like reading.

Once he stepped into the library, he took the first book he saw, which happened to be Kingdom Hearts Book 1. He hadn't really looked at it. But, he didn't care. He went to a corner by himself, and without bothering to look at anything, flipped open to the first page.

"Sora-" And then he was.... In a tube? He swiped at the blue stuff surrounding him, trying to figure out what it was. Up ahead, there was a fork, but for some reason, Xhan flinched, and didn't see which one he went through.

And there he was. Where is here? Xhan was a little groggy. He blinked a few times, and noticed someone with fingers that had bag-lady claws. "And I officially will never read again..." He slurred.

So... the spell had worked.

Ahaha, well, something had gone right... Her eyes surveyed the boy who had appeared as coldly and calculatingly as she could manage. Showing her glee would not make for an intimidating factor. People only listened to those who did not show such trivial weakness.

Maybe, hopefully... even more woul come. But for now, this success was a tiny victory that she could handle.

"Welcome... welcome... Keyblade master."

-----

So... it really was that obvious. But she didn't want to talk about it... once you told somebody your problems, they'd never look at you the same again... they'd merely see you as unstable.

She shook her head, shrugging it off. And then watched the other pick up her copy of Kingdom Hearts. Atnura hadn't read it in a while, but she remembered that she had really liked the one who... looked sort of emo. That was one of her favourite villains in the series, because he was just so... tricky. And she also liked the one who was flaming, the fire guy. He amused her so.

Then she heard Sheila's screams for help, and looked in shock as her friend was being pulled into... whoa... wait... the book?

Before she could even contemplate what was happening, Sheila had grabbed her by the wrist, and Atnura too began to shriek in fear. "What... WHAT IS THIS?! SHEILA?!" In panic, she grabbed ahold of a desk nearby, trying to keep both herself and her friend from being absorbed into this bizarre portal. Her fingers were scraping the surface, and she let go. She wasn't strong enough...

And she too was sucked with Sheila into the book.

She blinked, looking at the old man before her.

Just where were they?

"What? Woman, you have issues, don't you?" Xhan rubbed his head, feeling for bruises he knew weren't there. "Keyblade? Master? I think I'm a little old for fairy tales." Xhan had no knowledge of the Kingdom Hearts Series, although he had heard plenty of nine-year-olds telling their parents all about 'Keyblades.'

Vera walked down the stone path. She lived in a small cottage near the end of Traverse Town. That's how she liked it.

She dropped her backpack that held all of her school stuff. But that could wait.

"Let's see." Vera said, looking through the bookshelf, "There it is."

She pulled the Kingdom Hearts book off her shelf and began to read.

"I can't wait to describe this to Luna. Can't believe she's never read this." she said.

She blinked. When she opened her eyes again, she was in a blue tunnel. There was a fork in it but the fork was swallowed by darkness.

"Help. HELP!" Vera screamed.

She landed face first on the ground.

The girl in the ninja outfit laughed as Kral hit the floor. The woman in the pink dress also giggled.

The man with the brown hair shrugged. "You must be one of the Keyblade Wielders Merlin was talking about."

Kral was still confused at what happened. "Well who are you an- Wait, Keyblade Wielder? I though that was just fiction!"

"Yes, but apperently not. Anyway, I'll show you to Merlin. And I am Leon.

"I am Aerith." The woman said gently.

"And I'm The Great Ninja Yuffie!" The girl said jabbing her thumb to herself.

"Nice to meet you all. I am Kral."

Leon opened the door, leading to a dark plaza, stores surrounding it. Kral followed as LEon took him to through a large wooden door with a picture of fire on it. Through it, he opened another door to a ramshakled house. He saw three girls already there.

"Merlin, you magic seemed to malfuction. it sent him to Yuffie and Aerith's room."

"Hm? Oh, yes. Sorry about that. Anyway hello everyone. I am Merlin."

"Ummmmm, hi?" Was all Kral came up with.

Hmph. So she had another one of those smartasses, eh? She didn't much appreciate them... oh no.

"This isn't a fairy tale, I'm afraid. It's... very real." The witch pointed a clawed finger a few inches away from him, as a dark mass began to materialize. It was growing larger and larger... until it split off into several dark shadow-like creatures, each with glowing yellow eyes. The creatures stalked towards the boy and she smirked a bit. Oh, she'd enjoy telling him that this was so much realer than he thought it was...

"These are the Heartless. I'd advise summoning your Keyblade before you lose your heart."

-----

Atnura looked to Sheila, blinking still in confusion. She felt rather disoriented at being spirited in a random room with a man she had never met. It caught her totally off-guard. She was the first to immediately address the wizard regarding what was going on, not having time for patience.

"What the hell is this? Where are we...? And's going on? You just sit here, like it's so normal that random people go around poofing magically in rooms! Just who are you...?"

"He said his name was Merlin..." Vera said, rubbing her face, "But seriously, what just happened? Why am I here? Oh, I think I know what happened. I fell asleep while reading Kingdom Hearts or when my teacher was going on about how we shouldn't bring candy to class. Since this is a dream, got any candy?"

She smiled.

"So, how do I get out of this dream?" she asked.

"I don't think this is a dream..." Sheila moaned. She opened her mouth to speak, but Atnura had stolen everything she'd wanted to say. And said it better. She always seemed to do that, so Sheila just pointed at her. "What she said."

It wasn't that she was angry like Atnura seemed to be, she was just... confused. What had happened? Was... this real?

And just where were they? It seemed... familiar.

Xhan frowned at the Heartless. I am officially creeped out-Wait, what did she just say?

"Keyblade?! Keyblade?! Woman, I am not a storybook character! A dream! That's all I had was a stupid dream with a big one of these things! I cannot 'summon' a freaking Keybla-OhGod!!" Xhan had held his hands out to the Heartless when one had jumped at him. Which is when a large sword thingy popped into his hands.

In response, he fell backwards, and began scrambling backwards without standing up. He realized he still had the blade in his hand, and glanced at the small keychain on the end. If what Xhan had gathered was correct, this was the Fenrir Keyblade.

Xhan's back was against the wall now. He nervously scrambled to his feet, and grabbed the Keyblade with both hands.

A tall man walks slides the door to his room open, wiping the sweat from his brow with a bandaged fist. He walks over to the mat he slept on and lays down, easing his breath and beating heart for the training he put himself through that day. He rubs his hands over his face and let out a soft groan as his muscles sing.

"Tomorrow I can rest...then the day after I'll be back to my training."

The man lifts his hand and glances at the book next to his mat. He rolls his eyes and glances at the doorway.

One of the other students must have left it there.

He grabs the book and read the cover, finding it remotely interesting in the least. He flips the book open and starts to read the first line when everything faded into a blue glow. He could feel himself being drawn into the portal that appeared, but didn't have the time to yell out for help before disappearing.

Travelling through magic, time, and whatever else, The man finally lands where the spell would take him with a loud thud. The man let out a groan, his sore muscle crying from the fall.

"Note...to self. Don't train a month straight and open a magic book...makes you sore..."

"I believe that the girl is right. This is not a dream unfortunately." Merlin said with a hint of regret.

"I'll be taking my leave then Merlin." Leon said as he turned to leave, leaving Kral all by himself.

Suddenly, there was another person who landed in the middle of the room... again. This time, it is a fairly tall man with blue hair. Kral, was surprised at this, but did not show it. Instead, he walked up the the newcomer.

"Are you OK? that fall hurts right?" He asked kindly.

The man let out a groan as he peeled himself off of the floor.

"More so when you've been training for a month without rest..."

He looks around a bit, taking in the sight before him. He could see a old man with a long bread, a younger fellow with him, and the one that came to speak to him. He brushes the dirt off of his knees and bend at the waist in a bow.

"I am Halan of the Land of Dragons. It is most honourable to meet you're collective acquaintance."

Okay, Louis knew he often got lost in his books, but this wasn't what he meant.

He'd found hiself in front of a huge castle somewhere. It seemed like something out of one of those storybooks he read. He walked inside, a bit lost.

"Um, e-excuse me? Is anyone here?" he called, hoping to find someone. Empty castles were just plain creepy.

((oh God I love this kid <3))

"Then, where are we?" Vera asked, "Why are we all here?"

She growled.

"I was just at the part with Demmy..." she moaned, "And you have to kidnap all of us for some sick joke or something!"

(Demmy=Nickname for Demyx.)

Darius walked down the street from where he lived. Several blocks later he was near Merlin's house. He rapped his huge knuckles on the door.
"Merlin? Merlin Are you home?"
The massive man asked loudly. Several passerbys gave disaproving glances. He could care less.

...Whoa!

In the span of only a few minutes, much had happened. A blue-haired man had landed randomly in this odd place... and Atnura had jumped in surprise. What was all of this... madness? And why was nobody as disturbed by it as she was?

Her eyes rested on Sheila, and she scoffed.

"Don't you find any of this... strangely suspicious? Something funny's going on here..."

-----

The sorceress smirked as she watched the nervous boy with the Keyblade that had now appeared. She began to clap her hands together.

"Very good... very good. See? It really does exist... but let's wait for the others before I tell you all of the great things you can do with it..."

Silidia felt the sudden presence of another heart within her castle... and she continued to smile gleefully. Her expression seemed so innocently happy, it was genuine mirth within her features. But it was not such a pure smile... it had some strange element in it that somehow displayed ominousness. Something deep and dark hidden within its depths...

She snapped together her clawlike fingers, invoking the darkness. And it heeded her call. A corrodor of darkness appeared where the one who had just appeared in her castle was located.

"Enter... and you'll find all the answers you seek."

"I know this is weird....but I know it must be a dream. Books don't usually take you to strange places...." Vera exclaimed, ".....Unless they're very smart! But I doubt that books are like that. And the guy said it wasn't a dream, so that could just be a lie."
