Open The Games

Matthew fell somewhat heavily on his bed, tired from his daily workout and grateful that there was no homework assigned today. He could have just fell asleep then and there, but he felt the need to check his email. Opening it, he saw junk mail, subscriptions to a few channels on Youtube, and something entitled 'The Games'.
After deleting the junk mail and deciding that he wasn't in the mood for Youtube, he looked at the item remaining. Its file size looked a bit too small for a virus, and its title interested him. He clicked on it, and was suprised that all it held was a note saying "Welcome to the Games" and a link. This only raised his interest, and he wouldn't have been able to restrain himself if he wanted to.
Disapointed that nothing happened after clicking the link, he started wondering what it was about when the screen of his laptop started to glow brighter than usual. He had a sensation of being sucked in before darkness.

The green-haired boy woke up to find himself leaning against a tree. Wondering what had happened, and then suddenly remembering, all of his time reading a variety of fanfiction lead him to find one conclusion: that somehow that link transported him somewhere, maybe even into the past or the future. Pondering over where or when he was, he didn't notice a small cat-like creature curiously examining him.
Finally deciding to look around, Matthew noticed the cat and approached it carefully, as he loved cats and there was something odd about it. It meowed, and, seemingly decided that the lean boy wasn't dangerous, came closer to him aswell. Matthew now noticed that the small cat had blue and black fur, and there seemed to be a small yellow star on its tail. Could it be? Could this cat be a-?
"Shinx?" the young cat inquired.
"You're a Pokemon! Then that means..."
He was broken out of his suprised state by the sound of people's voices, coming closer. As he hurried towards the sounds, he noticed that the young Shinx was following him.
He quickly neared the commotion, and was greeted by the site of several people his age, and a man somewhat older than the rest, who seemed to have a Tailow perched on his arm.
"Hello? Who are you all?"

"As you said, we're not in our world. Even if I had money, they probably wouldn't take it here." James replied, when another newcomer came along.

"Hello? Who are you all?"

(sorry, I'm getting a little behind. I'll catch up in another post or two)

"Oh shoot, I'm late! I'm heading out for my class... later..."

Those were the last words Craig heard from his roommate, Josh. Since Josh left in a rush to try to make it to his english class on time, he had left his laptop on, in particular logged in to his university e-mail account. Craig himself didn't have class for another hour or so, so he had just gotten out of the shower at the time Josh ran out, having put on his t-shirt and jeans in the bathroom. While he heard the dormitory door slam from the frantic Josh, Craig also noticed a light shining from his roommate's laptop, and out of curiosity, he decided to check out what his friend had up when he left. With a click, Craig had access to Josh's e-mail inbox, and began to skim through it. While nothing looked interesting at first, everything soon changed once he brought up Josh's Spam folder. There, his eyes soon floated down to an odd looking e-mail with a simple subject line: 'The Games'. Pulling it up, he saw a link in the middle of it. Figuring the link led to a standard trojan/worm site, Craig smirked, thinking it would be a perfect way to 'teach Josh a lesson'. He clicked the link... the biggest mistake of his life...

"Sorry. No money here. And James has a point." Lili frowned, looking down at the ground.

However, yet another random stranger came out of the brush, and she smiled again.

"I'm Lili. I'm guessing you came here by e-mail, too?"

"Who knows? Probably to participate in these games. There has to be a reason, and we're going to find out soon. Let's not waste time and see what's gonna happen!" Theo said impatiently.

He looked around at the newcomers. He just remembered; he'd never introduced himself. "Oh, um, I'm Theo. Nice to meet you people," he said, smiling.

A Taillow, a Bidoof, now a Shinx... What was going on?

"I'm James. We know little of how we got here, but they want something. Whoever they are. I just hope that they don't want anything from us. It's not like we have much anyway." James frowned.

James began remembering about what he saw in the games- this was basically the same, right? Then it hit him. "Peter, you've got a Taillow, we're in a forest most likely crawling with Bug Trainers. You've got an advantage, so if you feel like battling, getting this world's currency wouldn't be a problem. Besides, we have finite choices here."

Alex stared at Rikku and Marcus intently. After listening to them speak about the email, he pinched himself in order to find that he was, in fact, awake. This was all real.
There's no explanation for this...Nothing logical... He thought to himself. He was jerked out of his thoughts when Marcus asked him for his name. Or, at least, that's what he figured. Alex had been zoning out, so he wasn't quite sure, but he introduced himself anyways.

"It's Alex. Nice to meet you. Now, about this email...I got it too. I don't think someone knocked all three of us out and took us here. It'd be a lot of work to drag three unconscious bodies to...wherever we are." Alex glanced at the surrounding forest. I wonder if anyone noticed that I'm gone...

"How many people are here, anyway?" Theo asked. "Hmm..."

Looking around, he counted up ten. And who knew when anyone else might pop in? After all, it's how all of them got there.

"Ten of us. Great. So, like, you guys all got that email too, huh? Wonder why..." he said, thinking. They were right - what was the purpose of this? They definitely needed to find out.

(Me: Theo, Manic Markku: Alex, Creed: James, Legendaryseeker99: Matthew, LiLiJANA: Lili, Big Red Cherry Bomb: Peter, Terezi Pyrope: Ree (Ares), RespecttheBlade: Marcus, Twilight Sparkle: Rikku, Crona: Luca. This is for the reference of all of us.

Kali the Flygon: Craig, Flower Doll: Rachel, and Hoity Toity: Veil haven't gotten into the strange world yet.)

"Well, of course it isn't 'boy with hat', I just didn't know how I should adress you, so it only came to be that." Her tone was hard then turned soft again. She had no reason to snap at him so she just stopped her hard tone. "You caught that I was Rikku, right? Well if you didn't, I'm Rikku, nothing else and nothing more."

The other boy, Alex, seemed to have pinched himself, maybe thinking this was a dream. "Sorry Alex, this isn't a dream." Maybe that was why he looked so said, maybe he was homesick? "I don't think they would have knocked us out, our heads don't hurt and if they did, I bet we would have been restrained at least. Something must have done this, but I doubt kidnappers." She thought as she looked around the forest.

"Maybe we should head to that city over there? Some leads might come up about how we got here, don't you think?" asking the two boys. Maybe she wasn't wearing the most appropriate clothes for forest exploring, but at least she wouldn't have to worry about stepping on anything weird.

After introducing himself and learning that the others also came here by that strange email, Matthew decided to lurk around the outskirts of the group and try not to be noticed by the others. Instead, he chose to play with the Shinx that seemed intent on following him.

"Hm, a city... maybe that would be a good idea. There's probably a bunch of people there..."Marcus trailed off, responding to Rikku

Then, he was hit by a sudden realization

"This... Maybe it's like we were thrown into a game. a Pokemon game. Which means, we're broke, we have no pokemon, and by all intensive purposes we should be getting our pokemon healed at a pokemon center. But we don't have any. Maybe... I dunno, maybe we should look for some pokemon? That Caterpie seems pretty friendly. But we don't have any pokeballs either..."

Marcus looked around, until he spotted something in a bush. It looked like a circular chest, and it had a familiar red and white pattern on it. Running up to it, he opened it, and found it wasn't locked or sealed. Contained inside were five small red and white round objects, no bigger than ping-pong balls. He brought them over to the group that had gathered.

"Maybe these will help," he said to the other three.

"But there are ten of us! Not like we'll be sharing. Well, maybe we will be sharing. Nah, probably not, if the "Pokémon game" idea's right..." Theo said.

They probably wouldn't be able to share five pokéballs, would they? That reminded him - in the games, first they would go to a lab with starters, right?

"Wait, no, let's go to the city first. Usually the players go to the lab, right?" Theo said. "'Cause, like, if we're following a game here..."

((um, Marcus was reffering to the group he was with. Rikku, Alex, and Ree. I don't think they've met up with your group yet.))

((I got the impression that all of the characters were pretty much gathered up together... What exactly are the "groups"?))

(( basically, the four I just listed, me, Rikku, Alex and Ree have not met up with everyone else yet. those would be the two groups. I assume they'll meet up at some point, though.))

((Correct. LiliJana, Peter, myself, and a few others are in my group, but the two haven't met as of yet.))

((Well, let's meet up! Or get to the city! Or something.

Theo, Lili, Peter, James, Luca, and Matthew are in one group; Marcus, Rikku, Alex, and Ree in the other.))

Theo looked around. "It doesn't look like anyone else'll be popping in, but maybe there're people somewhere else. But maybe we should get to the city first?" he suggested. He was starting to get bored and wanted to find out about this strange place!

Just like he had, these other teenagers had clicked on the link of a mysterious email. Why were they here? What would happen to them?

"Well, we're not going to find anything out by standing around! Um, let's go look for other people. We were all a few feet away and kinda just gravitated over, so I'm sure there's another group of other people around here," Theo said.

Matthew decided that he would be the one to search for the other group. After several minutes of scouting in a spiraling circle, going farther and farther away with each loop, he finally heard voices.
Coming to a small clearing, he saw a small group of people about his age, consisting of a girl, a boy with a hat, and two other boys.
On closer inspection, the girl had dirty blonde hair in a ponytail, one of the guys had chin-length blond hair, the guy with the hat has shoulder-length black hair, the the only thing remarkable about the last guy was that he wore no shoes, and the Shinx was practicing its pouncing skills on the girl.

"Hey! Did you guys come from the mysterious email too?"
